New-Dargonfly don't feel bad. I'm 26 and my doctor (your looking at the girl who hasnt been to a doctor in 10 years) seems to think that I have HBP and need to be on a pill for it, RIGHT NOW. I think she's nuts, and my friend and my mother in law(both nurses) seem to think lifestyle change is better to try first. So here I am, trying to stay motivated to work out (my 5am-1pm work schedule and three weeks behind in school work isnt helping for making time) and eat healthy. I have purchased books on the DASH diet to keep me in line and making sure I'm not eating too much sodium. I wish us all luck in our endeavours.

You're right, it does add up, when you're not tracking, and it can really sabotage what you're trying to improve on!!! Please try getting into the habit of tracking every day, for your own accountability. This really will help you, believe me, I know!

You're reminding me of me, when I first started tracking! When I tracked the first time, I was stuffing 4,000 calories down my throat! It shocked me to the core and I knew I had to do something NOW! It took a bit to get there, but by His Grace, I did, and we're on track! Stay the course, and you'll be amazed of the change in you!

Tracking food, even when it's not good, or sometimes really really bad (speaking for myself here LOL) helps us see what we really ate, not what we think. It's easy for me to pretend I blew it but not as bad as I actually did. So I track whether good or bad, whether right on, under, or way over. It keeps me accountable. We all mess up sometimes. I messed up a lot more when first trying again. I did well, then had a stroke 5 months ago, and gained some weight. A few weeks ago I got down to business for a month or two before that I kept telling myself I was going to do better but I didn't and really turned to food. I didn't track then what I really ate. When I settled down a couple of weeks ago I decided that even if I ate high calorie food I was going to put down everything.
You can do it!!

WOW, thank you all for the support....
so I tracked HONESTLY what I consumed today....holy heavy calories...(double of my daily totals), starting at 10am without a food plan or health food in the house didn't help...LOL
but I am vowing to be honest and I will. I know that once I get to the store in the a.m. and get better choices in the house, that my numbers will improve. I am also aware of having to be mindful and strong in my commitment to myself !

It's not about being the best,
It's about being better than I was yesterday ! !

Good Morning All;
I am 56 yr old woman. I have abused my body for most of my life. The blood pressure is going up, the cholesterol is going up too. Heart disease, blood sugar and thyroid trouble runs in the family. So I am playing with fire every day that I don't eat well or exercise. My brain knows this, but still I don't seem to care enough about ME to do something.
I read somewhere that new habits can be created by doing the action for 30 days in a row.....with that, I am going to be here EVERYDAY for the next 30 days and see what happens.

I have to believe in me and TRY...no DO IT, everyday ! ! !
