Thanks guys! This thread had been very helpful to me.

Yesterday, my cardiologist said I needed to get another BP machine, and I did not know where to start. I use a CVS wrist model. My readings are in the 200's all the time but at the doctor's office, my readings were close to normal.

This will help me know where to spend my limited funds emoticon and get a better reading emoticon

I have the Omron BP760 for one year now and it seems pretty accurate. I only get an error if I don't place the cuff centered high enough on my arm.

Thanks! I thought about that, but since it was purchased in January I didn't know if the store would do that. Guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

when I returned the blood pressure machines that did not work, the pharmacies gave me a credit for the purchase to use in the store. you might get the place to replace the machine for you, especially since it has not been a year or if you purchased with a credit card.....good luck!

I loved my Omron when I first bought it January 2013. It's the 10 series Model BP785. Paid nearly $100 for it using my health savings card because my doctor recommended the brand. A couple of months ago I started getting an E1 error, which means air plug is disconnected or leaking. Very frustrating. If I hold the plug in just so, it will work - sometimes. I e-mailed Omron and then called them. I wasn't very satisfied with the suggested resolution. Think I'll try again, though. Hate to throw away that $100. My doctor wants me to chart regularly and send my readings to her. Hard to do right now.

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone else have this model?

I've been using an Omron arm cuff monitor for a number of years and have been very happy with it.

Thanks everyone! and thanks Sandy for looking for the article. I'm taking this one back tomorrow. I had an Omron years ago when my husband was alive but it finally gave up the ghost.

I got a CVS KD-556. My first trip was to the dr.s office to check it out. It was accurate and I have had no trouble with it.

I have one of the Omron models, which I found at Wal-Mart -- I purchased the one I did because of an article in Consumer Reports which gave it a good rating. I'll look for the article and see if I can give you a breakdown of the ratings for different models here.

I have a ReliOn model that I bought a couple of years ago at Wal-Mart. It seems pretty accurate. It is the arm cuff style, since I had read that the wrist monitors weren't as accurate. I like it because you can keep many, many readings in the memory and can check back to see how you are doing. I go back and jot down my readings when I'm getting ready to go to the doctor's office so I can show him my average readings over a while. It even has an A and B memory so two people can use the monitor and keep their readings separate (you just have to remember who is A and who is B!) It also shows you your pulse.

I have an Omron arm cuff monitor that I need to use more often (read: start using again!). The arm cuff monitors tend to take more accurate readings than the wrist cuff monitors.

I find arm blood pressure monitors to be painful. Not sure why, they just are. Potentially the pain could make the reading high.

I got a Panasonic wrist blood pressure monitor. Like it much better.

Omron Automatic blood pressure I believe I got it at Walgreense
model number HEM12C
This is a arm model but after my first heart attack and having to take a beta blocker this is a the one my heart doctor recommended this also give you the blood pressure but a=just as important your pulse. has a memory also and keeps recent & past readings.
I can tell you by being with spark people and eating and tracking my food and exercise and staying motivated with people and the articles by Spark people losing the weight my heart is so much stronger and better , in fact the beta blocker has been cut in 1/2 which may eventually I may be off it all together. It has been 13 years since I have had the heart attack at age 50yrs, and today I am so much more healthier.

I bought a Walgreens brand and it showed my blood pressure WAY too high. At the doctor they measured 130/80, the machine was showing 187/100! scared the living daylights out of me! Has anyone found a good home automatic BP machine? emoticon Happy St Patty's Day!
