The doctor put me on Vitamin D 8 weeks ago 1 pill of 50,000 IUC once a week and I was nervous about that but on lastnight in church we watched a health video and the speaker was saying too much of any of the supplements are dangerous he gave the correct dose of each and I didn't hear 50,000 of Vitamin D once a week no where in his lechure so, I have 2 more pills left and I was nervous about taking them so I will continue to pray and ask God to let the sun shine on us so we can get the Vitamin D naturally alone with the proper foods to eat that contain all of the nutrients our body need, and I bind up the enemy that trys to come and discourage Gods people from eating properly God gave us everything we need here on earth we just have to utilize it in order for them to work God Bless you all and HAPPY HEALTHY EATING!!!!! emoticon

Don't take Vitamin D until you see your physician and he does a blood level to see if a supplement is necessary.

The first step in getting somewhere is by deciding not to stay where you're at.

D3 Is supposed to be safer. D is not recommended. There is still a danger.

It was from a doctor that she saw about a year ago when we thought she was having nerve problems. the article said that a doctor might put you on a high dose for a short time. They were not helping anyway. her blood pressure runs VERY low. She has several of the side effects from D toxicity and is dying of cancer. I think I'll take her off for a while.

FinFin - can you and your wife call her current doctor and discuss your concerns?

My BP was up. My blood test showed very low levels of vitamin D. My doctor put me on a high dose once a week for 8 weeks. He wants me to continue after that with a multi vitamin and have my levels checked again at my next 6 month BP check. My BP is back down so I think I'm actually getting some benefit from this - but it's all being supervised by my doctor!

It was given to her by a doctors order. I don't remember which doctor.

FinFin2: If this is not her doctors orders she should not be taking it. High doses of any vitamin should only be taken under a doctors supervision.

I am thinking about taking my wife off of vitamin D for a while. She is taking 5000IU / day since early this year. I just read about D toxicity Here:

Good Happens, that is a question for your doctor. If you are not low you should not take a supplement.

My D has been low for a while. I was taking 1000/day but lately they have doubled that. I can't say if there has been any BP dif because my reading vary so widely.

My doctor did a Vit D level and I was a little low. He recommended a daily vitamin. Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption of calcium. Calcium is important in preventing, or reducing, osteoporosis. I am sure it is heart-healthy, also. Of course, BP is heart related.

The first step in getting somewhere is by deciding not to stay where you're at.

Very interesting. I was a little low, doctor put me on 2000 IU which brought my levels up. My BP did drop a little, might be due to losing twenty pounds. Stuck now, haven't lost anything since.

I went in for my 6 month BP check and my B/P was a little elevated. My Doctor checked my vitamin D levels and they were very low. He has put me on 50,000 IU once a week in addition to my normal multi vitamin. No change to my meds.

I've been on it five weeks now - my blood pressure is staying around 110/70, I have a little more energy & I feel a little less foggy. It might be reducing the ridges on my thumb nails - well my left one at least.

Has anyone heard of using vitamin D to help control BP? I would not recommend taking mass doses without your doctor but I'm curious to know if anyone else has been put on Vitamin D.
