Not everyone has weight loss as part of their goal, but we're ALL here about hypertension. Maybe making sure we take our medication regularly, keep up w/doctor visits, monitor our readings ourselves regularly, read labels, get on that bandwagon to contact manufacturers about their sodium content, and work on achieving better overall health? Oh, and always welcoming and supporting newbies!

I can't make a team goal out of it (because I'm not a leader) But I could start a thread to track it and make it a team challenge.
The others like this that I have done require each person to keep track of his/her own miles and periodically update the "Team Total" in their post to that topic. Like this
My miles: 21 My previous total Miles: 1224 My total miles: 1245 Previous team miles: 12,003 New team total miles: 12,024
You could leave out your personal previous or your Total if you want, but you would have to keep the TEAM previous and total up to date as you post. You must also be careful that someone else doesn't update it while you are also trying to update the total.
When I do this on a different team, I use a spread sheet that I setup just for this purpose. With this tool I can just copy the previous team total from the most current post ans paste it into my spreadsheet then type in my "miles", copy the wholespreadsheet and paste it into a new post.

I like the 10,000 steps idea. I haven't seen it on any of my other teams. I live in a really small condo, park less than 50 feet from my building, and our entire office building is only about 7,000 sq feet. I really have to put in a concerted effort to get 10,000 steps each day and this would help motivate me!
they both sound good can;t walk a lot so i know my numbers will be low on that.but ill try it. something new yeh why not... please check out my blogs trying to do one a day not always get it done but i work on them.

I am already a nut about reading the labels! Just ask my wife. LOL. I wish I could get HER to read the darn things! She brings home some awfull stuff, when she shops alone. She NEVER reads the labels except the front. Those are mostly lies. I don't do well with goals, cause I never seem to reach them. Lazy?
Learn from the mistakes of others. Life is too short to make them all yourself.

Im in-tell me if you think this is silly-we know sodium can make our B/P go up,I don't usually look at cans, packaged foods, how about some goal were we are responsible for checking the sodium in our foods, on the other hand the food tracker does that too it would get us in the habit of checking out the labels at the store alot more carefully, just replacing "bad habits" into good ones!

FinFin2, that a good idea. We could start Jan4 or 5th and each member would be responsible for minimum of 1000 miles. How about it? Would you like to be the organizer? Hey, let's get this ball rolling. Eldora
