TeaCity2 - I just found out today that my BP reading dropped alot since my last visit 3 months ago. I have only lost 5 lbs (according to them), but the exercise and healthier eating seems to be paying off for me.

I agree with the other posters that we will all react differently, so keep doing what you are doing, and stay tuned to your doctor's advice as well. He or she will know which things are likley helping you the most.

Great job! emoticon

Tea..welcome and congratulations on your success! Taking an active role in your health has paid off for you. Your doctor should be able to answer your questions about your blood pressure, but you'll find a lot of support and information here too.

Seems to me you are on the right track for your body. I'd stay there until your results show you it's time for a change. emoticon

Teacity, everyone's body is different and some people can lose the weight and the b/p will stay the same, {that's me} and then in some cases people who eat right and lose a few lbs, never have to use b/p med's again. So keep doing what you are doing, it's working for you. And welcome to the team. Sherry.

Tea, welcome! It's great that you've dropped both weight and your BP. Yes, a healthful diet and good exercise will keep both down. You're off to a wonderful start.

Welcome to the team, Tea, emoticon and congratulations on losing weight and lowering your BP! emoticon

In addition to losing weight, you can control your BP through diet, supplements and exercise. To make sure you maintain your lowered BP, I suggest you try the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet. Here is a link to an article on DASH from SP:

I joined Spark to help lower my BP so I didn't have to go on medication (I see my doctor every 3 months and she said that if it was still up on my next appointment, she was going to start me on meds). So far I have lost 22 pounds and amazingly my BP has dropped 20 points! That is much more and much quicker than I expected. My question is.....is that a normal drop and can I expect it to stay that way or did it just drop as a result of the newness of exercise and will slowly creep back up like before. I plan to continue to exercise and keep my weight down, but high BP runs in my family and I didn't know if exercising was enough.

I was never afraid of failure, for I would sooner fail than not be among the best
