Glad your sister and brother will be able to spend Thanksgiving with your mom. That will certainly brighten her spirits.

My parents are almost here tonight from MD. They will be here until Tuesday morning and then they will go to my brother's in GA. The hubby and I will celebrate Thanksgiving today, and that is good for me!

That's awesome. I still don't know what Jason and I are doing for the holidays. It usually depends on what his parents are doing since my mom doesn't like celebrating on Thanksgiving day, and my dad works. All I know for sure is I'm going to be stuffed like a turkey. Lol.

A rainy day on the comp with a cat sounds amazing. I'll have to settle for cold and cloudy, but I have two beagle mixes to make up for the difference in temperature. emoticon

My sister is officially on the road from OK to AZ to spend the week with out mom for Thanksgiving. So she will be there with her for chemo on Wednesday and I think that will really bring her spirits up. It looks like my younger brother (my sisters twin) is going to make it up the day of Thanksgiving as well so that is awesome. Usually he has to work holidays since he is in the hotel management business.

Right now I am plopped on the couch with my laptop and my cat, listening to the rain outside while everyone else in the house is still asleep.

I will definitely pray for your aunt.
Today my mom has chemo again, after this one just 4 more weeks to go. She is starting to get worn down, we are trying not to let her amazing strength falter. She has lost all her eyebrows and eye lashes and she feels embarrassed to leave the house. I told her if anyone says anything your tell them, I'm kicking cancer's butt and that is all that matters, i am beautiful for that alone!
Her mastectomy will be late December or early January, we don't have an exact date yet. So my prayers are definitely with your aunt and everyone fighting this terrible disease.

Yeah all of us in those central states are having some strange weather right now. It was in the 20s the night before last and then got up to 50 again finally during the day. It's supposed to hit 60 today here in Dallas...wish the weather would make up it's mind. My sinuses hate this!

I try to stay as positive as I can, when I let myself get down, I get out of routine and it doesn't do anything for me health wise or contact wise. PCOS sucks...it sucks bad, trying for a baby for about 5 years now...and nothing, but I refuse to give up. I just hope every pound that takes a lot of work to get off is going towards that goal!

It's ok to vent, people can be stupid and sometimes you need to let that out. Lol. Seriously though, people carry weight differently, it's never appropriate to just assume something about another person's body like that.

You should be proud, you're working on it. A lot of people get discouraged when they realize they have a struggle like PCOS to deal with, but you're not letting that stop you.

I hope guys know I'm not trying to be negative in any way, I feel safe with you hear so I vent about it and that is all. If I come off as complaining, just want to say sorry in advance, but I feel this team and my spark family understands more than anyone.

This unusual cold weather for TX this time of year is not so awesome though. I feel like I should be living in the north with how cold it is. 26 right now in Dallas this morning. I don't own any dress slacks (strange shape, never find any that fit right) and so it's tights with dresses/skirts for work...and brrrrrrr lol

Oh I don't think you guys see me that way, I'm just venting. I've made my weight a joke kind of, I humor myself about it because if I don't I get depressed. People can be cruel and mean and so I have learned to love myself no matter what size I am. I make jokes about yeah well I keep my hubby warm when it's cold, or man do I cuddle better than any skinny girl. It just lightens the mood. My husband is 6' 2 and only 195 pounds. He is tall and thin with muscles. I'm only 5'9 and 234 pounds so sometimes we get odd looks when walking through mall. I tell him, they are just jealous that I've got a hot man and they don't hahahaha. It's about what is inside not always what is on the outside.

I did meal prep last night. The first time ever. I have all my lunches in tupperware for the week and they are healthy and measured. I have written down everything I will make for dinner this week, made sure I had all the things I need to make them. I am back to drinking my shakeology for breakfast...so here is to trying harder this week for a pound drop! woohoo!

Well I don't want to think of it that way, but we all have our issues, problems, and things we struggle with. I think it's great you are keeping up with your healthy goals. I hate how rude people can be. I get rude remarks, believe it or not, because I'm actually eating healthy. It's so frustrating.

Looks like I'm definitely the chub of the group, but I'm working on it...baby steps right?

I'd love to be around 19-20% body fat, that is my goal. I want to be toned and not have this big PCOS belly that people mistake and ask me if I'm pregnant all the time, it's terrible and a real mood downer. I'm to the point I tell people nope I cannot have kids, just fat and thanks for reminding me. I know that's mean, but just because a person appears thinner except for in the middle, doesn't not assume it is because they are carrying a child...

Anyways on a less negative note, it's the weekend!! And for the first time in a long time, I slept past 7am! haha. I have a goal of 10k steps on my fitbit today. I also want to do a workout of my turbo fire if my back is nice to me today.

Happy Super cold Friday! It was 26 when I left for work around 7:30 and only getting to 37 today. Wooo. I honestly don't mind the cold but my hands take a beating. They are already getting chapped, so I've been putting on lotion every time I wash my hands.

I'm so far away from your body fat goal! Last time my scale told me I was at 28.1. I think the lowest I got to this year was 26.2. I want to get much lower for sure!

Yeah, I'm hoping to get to 15% body fat. From the body fat percentage image charts I've seen, 15% is about the right amount of definition for me. I know everyone has their preference, but for me my preference is to see a good amount of muscle without being super ripped.
I don't want to look like a full on fitness model, but something like Jillian Micheal's physique would be awesome. I need new dumbbells (my 5lb ones haven't been cutting it for a few years now, lol and curls with a kettlebell isn't wise), and a better resistance band, but for now I'm doing what I can with what I have to just build strength before seriously sculpting.

Maybe if I get the equipment it'll be the motivation I need to really stick with a better diet, and get my butt in gear.

Yes it is a very brisk 29 degrees in Dallas this morning...not what we are used to at all. I heard all the cold is down the middle of the US and the east and west coasts are relatively warm right now. It's some arctic wind chill that has come to torture us not used to the cold.
Don't get me wrong it's a nice change, I get to wear coats I hardly ever wear and I'm using my fire place which rarely gets used, so that's cool :)

When you say 15% you are talking body fat? Wow girl I totally want to be that, I am still struggling getting to my first goal, but the doctor read my current body fat at 32% at the doctor a couple weeks ago :( I wish it wasn't so hard for my body because of my hormone issues. I just take it one day at a time though. I am learning to be more comfortable in my skin no matter what my size.

It's kind of weird hearing people from the south having worse weather than up in upstate NY, lol. Usually we're getting more snow, and cold by now so we've been fortunate. Double fortunate for me because it's super hard to get started on a workout when it's cold. I know I'll get warmer once I start, it's just the starting that's difficult.

The body fat caliper I ordered showed up in the mail! I tried to get an estimate of my body fat percentage from measurements, and an online calculator, but it said 17% and I knew that was wrong. Calipers read me at 22% which is much more accurate. I'm ditching having a goal number on the scale in favor of toning up, and just being more fit. My ultimate goal is 15% (depending on how things look when I start getting close to it), but my shorter term goal is 20%.

It's going to be hard though. It's the holiday season, and it's fall-winter so I tend to eat more, and get lazy. Lol.

Oh, and I quit drinking carbonated beverages. They make you bloat a lot, and I'm sensitive to kidney issues as it is. Plus I drink diet, and aspartame really is crap, so maybe my appetite will be easier to work with without it.

that is warmer than Dallas right now for sure. Today I think the high will only be 35, which of course we are not used, not this early in the season. So everyone is breaking out their hidden winter woolies, and watch next week it will go back up to the 70s lol

Yup the cold found Texas, it doesn't happen too often, but it found us early this year. It's only 34 outside while I type this. I get to break out my cute sweaters and coats that never get worn lol

I plan to pick up some fire logs on my way home tonight, I love getting to use the fireplace when we get some cold weather, I don't know what it is, but a fire in the evenings is so relaxing :)

She has 6 more sessions. Her last chemo is on December 18, then she will have a pet scan. After that she gets 4-6 weeks off before surgery so her body can heal. She is hoping to be able to travel and see me during Christmas. My sister is going there for Thanksgiving.

How's your mom doing? How much longer on chemo does she have? My aunt is having her double mastectomy on Nov 19. When they did her ultrasound last week they did not see her tumor anymore, but I think she just doesn't want to think about this coming back, so she is having the surgery anyway.

I have read books on it, and I use the free site mint.com. It helps some so I can at least see when I am overspending, and it sends me emails and such. But I find it's not keeping me from doing it anyway lol

Do what I can while I can. I've been living with this bad disk since 2006, so what is another few months. I need to pay off the hubby's spine surgery first before I rack up more hospital bills with my own.

I have a huge goal to get back on track with everything Nov 1, so just a couple days of taking it easy and see how the medicine is opening up. I do have a goal to hit my 10k steps on my fitbit today...see how my back takes the walking :)

So sorry you have to deal with so much back pain. Your back is definitely a body area to protect. Of course our whole body is too! But when you are in back pain, it affects so much of your life. I have seen it with some other friends as well. I hope you are able to continue with your work out plan, and will be more pain free until you have surgery at some point.

Yeah I need to keep up with my yoga, and strengthening my back and core because my posture is pretty bad. Not as back as it was when I was at my higher weight, but not good at all.

Congrats on the program so far. Glad you haven't been sore too much. I kind of like a little soreness, but that's me, lol. Working out is the only way I manage to drink more water when the weather gets cold.

oooh, I totally want the 21-day fix, but my hubby is like you need to do your other workouts more consistently before you buy another one. I guess I see his point, but I need help with the eating part for sure.
I did see the doctor yesterday, she gave me a cortisone shot of my back and some muscle relaxers, so far this morning I am feeling better just after taking on muscle relaxer last night. The shot probably helped a lot, getting the inflammation down. Let me tell you ladies, always take care of your back and spine, lift properly and keep your core strong, you do not want to live with this type of pain at all, it can be completely crippling of you day. I am trying to avoid surgery as long as possible, but my guess it will probably happen at the beginning of the year, after we finish paying off my husband's surgery bills.
For those that aren't aware, I have a 11mm disk herniation at my s1 (tail bone area). It happened because of a fall when I used to do taekwondo. The disk sticks straight out into my spinal canal, rubbing on the sciatic nerves that send pain through your butt cheeks, hips and all the way down the left leg. Not fun at all. I try not to take pain meds, they are addictive and give me tummy issues.
I need to get this weight off and my core strong, it will help a lot, but I have to have the pain under control to do that much movement. So I stress to those who still have a good back, keep your back as healthy as you can :)

Hello new members!
And great job on the fitness buddy!

I'm on week 2 of 21-Day Fix and I like it. I am sure I will need to repeat it, but this is getting me on the correct eating path, so it's good. The workouts are challenging, but other than the first day and maybe a day here and there, I haven't been sore. Drinking water has been helping with that I think.

Sorry for the absence, but I'm back! Nice to see we have new members, hello Who, and Sam!

Getting really back into strength training, and starting to take care of my carb intake. I made a friend during the trip who's really into fitness and kicked my butt when I thought arm wrestling would be fun. lol. She's my motivation/fitness/nutrition buddy now, or at least the closest I've had to one.

Hope your back has stopped hurting. Still struggling with my eating, but I have been working out more. I'm actually going to finish up thru Sunday with Turbo Fire and then take a break and do a 30 day challenge with the 21 Day Fix. I'm waiting on it to arrive, which should be today. I've heard alot of people like the workouts and the little plastic containers that help with your portions. We shall see!

Despite the feelings of laziness I'm getting exercise in here and there. Haven't been tracking, but I think tracking for so long has made me more aware of calories and portions because I lost a few pounds anyway.
I don't like when it's chilly, it's harder to get started on working out. Once I get moving, I'm good, but it takes some major determination to get off my bum in the first place. Lol. Holding in there so far.

Well I'm done with Week 1 of TF and on to Week 2 tonight. Hubby and I have been trying to eat more clean and I tried a few recipes from my Clean Cooking cookbook over the weekend. Lost 2.5 pounds. Hoping I can continue to lose some weight this week.

Sorry, been back in TX a little over a week and been swamped. Trying to keep my mom positive from far away during the rest of her chemo, then my husband had spine surgery Thursday and I'm just mentally and physically exhausted from working tons of hours and taking care of everyone. Ahh, I'm back! I'm sorry for being away so long, but I got lazy. I maintained my weight, and all, I just didn't really feel like logging on. We're definitely going to the wedding next month so I need to go shopping because apparently it's like black tie formal. No doubt between flying for the first time, and that, it'll be a terrifying three days. I'm so scared of heights I can barely limb a few steps on a ladder, and my social anxiety sums up everything nerve racking about the event itself. I guess that's what my meds are for, lol.

It's a lot of pressure though. These are my boyfriend's best friends. He grew up with them. They've done a lot for him, and his family. They're also very extroverted. Jay and I have been together for what will be six years in Dec, and I don't want to fudge up the first impression, which won't be hard since I'm really shy and awkward. I'm hoping to trim a few pounds so I can feel a little more confident, and comfortable in hopes that'll help. Plus keep on with strength to tone up a wee bit. Wish me luck, and sorry if I have more periods of not being around. It's a seasonal thing.

Does the hospital she goes to have medical transportation? Most don't but it''s worth finding out.

Tea sounds great, I always mean to pick some up, but tend to forget. I should pick up diet hot cocoa come to think of it, 35 calories per packet, and not overly sweet like regular cocoa.

I guess I don't have that issue, I live in the south where it is usually always warm and sunny. the days do get a little shorter, but the average fall temperature is 70 and sunny.

I worry about finding someone to get my mom to her next 12 chemo treatments, she cannot drive her self there, they give her medications that make her sleepy.

Well my head hasn't started killing me yet, so that's good. What isn't good is the lack of food in this house (my dad's), and there's nothing I can do about it. As much as I love Honey Nut Cheerios, they aren't much of a filling breakfast, but I was saving the last two eggs for lunch. I crack them open, and go to pull out some bread for an egg sandwich, and it's all moldy. So I ended up eating a medium egg, with an added white for lunch.
Still starving, and there's nothing I can do about it. I could eat more cereal, but I'm already trying not to binge (more pms issues lol), so I know if I ate something like that, I'd eat a ton of it. On top of that, I have a workout to drag myself through. Guess it's a third cup of coffee kind of day.

At least my head's not hurting yet though, I can manage dealing with the rest. Lol.
I hope your allergies are better today. At least with fall coming so fast, it'll give the allergies a rest for awhile. Assuming you don't live somewhere with year round plant life. I try to work out earlier than I expect my migraines to kick in, but sometimes they surprise me early. I always do kettlebell training in the morning, so even if I can't get in my afternoon workout, at least I feel better knowing I did something for at least 10min.

Chrimson hasn't been on in awhile. I hope all is well with her, and her mom.

Happy belated birthday!

And I am sorry you were feeling so ill yesterday. Hate those hormone migraines! I have had a frustrating headache the past two days, but it was my allergies. Ragweed has been horrendous. Thankfully we are getting rain today so I feel better. I should have been working out most of this week, but when I feel like that, with headaches, I don't bother. Usually it makes them worse for me. Sometimes your body just needs to recover.

Ugh, it's that time of the month, or in my case every three months, which means I get to enjoy a week of migraines! Joy! Usually they start in the late afternoon to evening time, but today it wanted to surprise me by showing up before 1.
On top of that I forgot to put more of the medication I have for it that has any chance of putting a dent in it at my boyfriend's house. I have Excedrin, and while it's great for headaches, it's no match for my migraines.
On top of ALL that, I still have a thirty minute strength workout I absolutely have to do. I need to stick with this new routine of 30min three days a week with recovery days in between. Since weekends are more difficult, that means Mon, Wed, and Fri are those three days. Hopefully since I follow that up with yoga, that'll help.

All I want to do, is make my room as dark as possible, curl up on my bed, and lie there. I guess I can be more disciplined than I realize sometimes though.

Yeah, I inspect all around the toilet when I go in there now. Lol.

Drank, and ate like crap this past weekend, lol. Birthday celebrating tends to go that way. Today is my actual birthday, and I'm spending it getting back on track. Big strength workout this afternoon, and I'm looking forward to it. :D

I think I burned all the calories I need for this week. Might be tmi, but you never move as fast as you do when you're leaping off the toilet because you realized there was a huge flipping spider right above the TP. Max heart rate achieved, lol.
That aside it's been an ok morning. Kettlebell training done, yummy breakfast, and facebook bingo to kill some time.

Everything with his cleaning went well and no teeth pulled, so that's good. I can pick him up later this afternoon. They told me like three times I didn't need to bring anything for him because he probably wouldn't be eating. I took his food, glucose tester and insulin. Guess what? They needed it. I did find some treats that are supposed to clean teeth, but who knows if they really work.

Sounds fun. When Discovery Fit & Health was FitTV I loved the cardio kickboxing episode of All Star Workouts. :)

I can never finish programs either, even ones I design. I find I do my best when I just decide what I need for the day (strength, cardio, yoga or whatever combination of them) and go for it. I do use my kettlebell everyday though for at least five minutes. It's a great well rounded workout, but it burns calories so fast I had to cut back on it, lol.

Thanks, my mouth has been so much better since having them out. I used to have pain in the whole row of teeth because of the bigger one coming in. Though it's weird having an empty little pocket there now, lol.

Sorry to hear about your cat's health struggles. Hopefully the cleaning goes well, and helps a lot. I know they have dental chews for dogs, is there something like that for cats? Just to kill bacteria, and prevent tartar build up?

How's Turbo Fire going? When it first came out I was doing the program but I never finished it. I can't seem to finish these programs- they take so long! RIght now I'm doing a combo of Turbo Jam and Chalean Extreme. I like it ok I guess. I also couldn't get all the way through Chalean Extreme without getting bored. I guess I like variety! I'd like to get back into Turbo Fire though. I love her energy!

Glad the wisdom teeth are out! Hope you are feeling better!

I took tomorrow off, so I have a four day weekend. Nothing planned, but I'm ok with that. Tomorrow my cat goes in for a teeth cleaning, which I've never had done before. I normally wouldn't, but he has been getting alot of sores on his mouth, which become worse because he has diabetes. So I'm hoping for the best with that!
