Good luck with the land you want to buy. I really want to buy a home, but we just signed another 2 year least on the house we rent. With the surgeries and owing the IRS a ton of money this year, there is no money to put down on a house. So we are going to try and pay stuff off and pack that savings back up again.
Mom is staying strong and positive. Today is another chemo day. She has one new small tumor trying to grow in her stomach now. I hate that a new one keeps popping up, this crap is trying to take over her body and it makes me so sad.

Yeah, gifting yourself counts as a little pampering. If it's something you do for yourself that makes you happy, it counts. :D

Health has to come first, so it's good that you're making sure to get your PT done when you have to. Plus balance is generally a good thing, lol. At least you have some eye candy too.

That's pretty cool, good luck to him. :)

If Jay's not working this weekend we'll probably be spending most of the time trying to to find this darn property we want to look at, and calling realtors, and town officials because apparently buying property is complicated. lol. One we liked is pending sale now, and that was after we found out it wasn't zoned for residential use anyway.

The one we can't physically find looks really promising (there's another on the same road that's not as great as far as privacy, and landscape). It says on the century 21 site that it's zoned for agriculture, but in the description say you can build a home on it, and on realtor.com the same listing is said to be zoned for residential. Fingers crossed that is it so we don't have to go through that mess, and that we can find it in person to look at soon.

No pampering yet, unless you count my pretty new Jamberry wraps I put on over the weekend. I'm wearing some cute Hawaiian flowers right now :)

I have physical therapy for my inner ear and eye/brain coordination 3 days a week right now, so another reason If ind myself not getting to the gym. They are helping me get my balance back though, so that is pretty cool. It helps that the doctor is easy on the eyes as well hahaha.

Yay for Wednesday, the half way point of the week is here. The hubby is taking his motorcycle training course this weekend. It should be fun for him.

Yeah I have a bad habit of not drinking water/enough water when I'm working out sometimes. Like if I don't feel too hot I'll just keep going without thinking about water. I do the same mowing the lawn,I can be sweating like nuts, and only grab a drink halfway through. Usually because I want to push through and get it over with, lol. My kidney issues did clear up on their own though, Jay picked up cranberry juice and I drank a lot. It's the light kind so it's more watered down, I can't take full flavor cranberry juice. Worked though.

I hope you enjoyed your day off! It sucks that you still have not fun stuff to do, but at least you get some time to get that stuff taken care of. Did you get the chance to pamper yourself? I hope so, you really deserve it. :)

I am sorry to hear about your kidney issues. I've heard once you've had one kidney infection they become common. I'm not sure I've ever had one, but I think I did once because the symptoms you describe I recall having. I definitely still need to work on my water intake. It's better than it was for awhile, but I'm still not drinking enough water. I did yard work last night and only drank one cup of water, I know that can't be right with how much I was sweating.

I am off tomorrow finally...I got a day to relax/play. I am going through PT for BPPV and some occular issue because of it, so I have that tomorrow afternoon. I may or may not have some phone interviews tomorrow as well, but other than that, my goal is to get in a good workout in the morning and then pamper myself a little bit, maybe get a pedicure or something.

Glad you slept well, and are feeling good. I tend to not pay attention to what I eat in social situations either, which doesn't happen often for me anyway, lol. What's hard for me is easy snack type foods, like I can eat a half bag of chips if I'm just chatting the whole time.

Been having kidney issues, I'm prone enough to them to know when I'm dealing with them. Soreness in that area, urge to pee more, in worse cases flu-like symptoms. Its one of the crappier ones this time, so I may have to get on antibiotics if I can't just fix the problem by flushing out my system with water. Most times that works, so fingers crossed.

Good luck getting to the gym, even after the first time it can be difficult, but once it's a habit it's easier. :)

Glad you had a great time at the beach! I would love to be laying on the beach right now!

I slept well again last night, so I'm in a good mood so far this morning. I overate last night and I'm feeling it tomorrow, but I'm ready to be on track again today. I grilled steaks and made baked potatoes and such last night, and I ate more than my serving size. That happens when I'm social while cooking, we had a couple friends over for dinner, and I tend to eat while talking and not pay attention to what I am eating.

I still haven't started my weight training program. Getting into the gym that first time seems to be more difficult than I was hoping it would be.

Hello ladies, I'm back!
Spent the week in VA beach, had fun, ate and drank like it was my job. Lol. Took a week off from lifting to give my muscles some extended recovery time. Kicked butt on today's workout, focused on compound lifts to get myself started. Next time I'll add back curls, Tate presses,a and calf raises. Gonna be sore tomorrow. Back on eating a surplus to gain muscle for the rest of the year, despite the desire to eat a dozen bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches, I gotta get on track with keeping my gains moderate.

Congrats on the loss Chrimson! Glad you got some much needed rest, and are feeling better. Well, at least you were at the time of your last post, but I hope it's still going. :D

Heck yes. Man it's Wednesday thought and I'm so very tired. I really need a day off work to just catch up on sleep. Work is kicking our butts.

How is everyone else doing this week? I'm working on my water today, and I really need to get to the store, we are out of healthy stuff in the house again.

I honestly don't remember the last time I took a bubble bath. Usually I'm in and out of the shower in 15 minutes or less.

Good news I weighed this morning and I'm down 2 pounds, so that is good. I'm still working on my water intake though and need to get more exercise.

Any fun plans for the weekend?

Geez, you need a real break. Even when you're not working your butt off at work, you're working it off at home. Try to get in a nice bubble bath or something, you deserve to relax for a bit!

Yesterday was my first day off in 13 days of 12 hour days. I'm exhausted, but at least I got one day without work contacting me to do something. I was able to get laundry done and do some grocery shopping.

I fear this week is going to be hell also though, too much to do, not enough time!

Thanks, I seem to be ok in the mornings, but by the end of the day man my mid to upper back really starts to hurt. I'm wondering if it is stress from work. I've worked 7 days in a row so far and I'm so mentally and physically tired, and the week starts again already with no days off.

Wishing you the best of luck in getting pregnant. I'm sorry it's so expensive, and such an emotional process, but hopefully it comes out with a happy ending. :)

I used to get pain in between my shoulders like that when I'd help move hay bales around. Hopefully it's just some wear on the muscles that gets better soon.

To claim medical bills on your insurance and get anything out of it, for us it said it had to be at least 10% of your income was used for medical purposes. We didn't quite reach that, even with the 6k we have spent this year for spine surgeries, I don't know that we will reach that.

Either way I wish you luck with everything. I hope you get your baby.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Yeah, my fertility stuff, even the bloodwork, is not covered, so this is all out of pocket. I have read that you can claim it on your taxes, but you would have to spend more than $5000 or something like that. We may get there! We are even considering moving to a store that mandates insurance cover fertility as we were looking to move to another state anyway. Kinda crazy sounding I know. Thank you so much!

Congrats on trying to get pregnant. It's definitely an emotional roller coaster, especially with health issues. All I can say is PCOS sucks, but on top of that we found out the hubby has hormone issues which is causing infertility as well. So between the two of us, our chances of conceiving are 8%. We might just have to bite a bullet and see a fertility doctor (non covered by insurance) and see what they can do for us. Otherwise looks like I won't get this opportunity. I wish you tons of luck and hope you figure out the health issues. Sorry to hear your job didn't work out, but great job on maintaining. I'm good at maintaining, but I still need to lose a lot!

Hey ladies, hope you are doing well. Sorry I haven't been truly around. I check in, but haven't really been part of the group. Just going through alot emotionally. We have been dealing with some health stuff- basically trying to get pregnant. Had all the testing and now we are going to do an IUI this month. Really crossing my fingers this works this month. I've been maintaining my loss, which is good. Would love to lose more but just going to see how this month plays out. I had started a PT job back in May. I ended up quitting last week and it's probably better because it is way too physical.

I am just riding it out right now. So far it is getting better and not worse, I don't want to get on antibiotics if I do not have to. I've had some upper mid back pain the last couple days, I'm wondering if it is from helping work on a house for Habitat for Humanity Saturday. Between my shoulder blades is very angry with me right now. It's not like pain I used to have in low back, it's like a constant tight, achy feeling.

How is your week going so far? Man yesterday was crazy busy for me.

Ah, ok. I was just asking since sometimes people get so caught up in the "bad food" "good food" stuff, lol. I don't have much knowledge about PCOS, but I get that it requires dietary changes to be as healthy as possible dealing with it. :)

I cut out white bread too whenever I can, at first it was just because whole grain breads are ore filling, and nutrient dense, but after using it for awhile I just found white bread too boring.

I hope your sinuses clear up soon. I was talking to a friend that was trying to get back on her workout routine after vacation, but has been having a lot of trouble with sinus problems, and it sounds really awful. Is there anything that can be done about it, or do you just have to ride it out?

I cut the refined sugars/carbs for calories, but also medical. Since I am PCOS, my body doesn't metabolize processed things like a normal person. My middle weight will come off slowly no matter what, but it's more likely to happen if I cut out the bad carbs/sugars. I won't cut out natural sugars like fruit or anything, just processed "white" breads/sugars. Everything I've read on the condition and all the doctors I've talked to recommend this.

I feel like crap, head hurts all the time, sinus issues, etc. I just want to feel better already. All I found out with my appointments this week, my blood work looks great, I have no cavities, I have a sinus infection, and they think the vertigo is because of an inner ear issue with crystals.

Half a pound is half a pound, sometimes we expect more, and get hard on ourselves, but a loss is a loss. As long as you keep trying, you'll get there. :)
I hope your appointment goes well. Do you restrict sugar for a medical reason? Because if it's weight loss related, you don't really need to. It's the amount of calories that causes losses, and gains, not the type of calories. Well, unless it helps stick to your calorie budget better, then that works too. Lol. I get that sugar can be a binge trigger for some people.

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement. You're such a doll.

I'm just taking it one day at a time, it's all I can do. I weighed in at 233.3 this morning, so I'm down half a pound from last Monday, but still not where I wanted to be this morning :( Today other than my wake up cup of coffee, I'm taking all my meals with me to work for the day and I'm going to stay on my calorie budget and restrict my sugar for the day. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning to get my routine blood work and check all my hormones, thyroid and everything, I'm also going to let her know that the vertigo still isn't going away and we need to find out why, if something is wrong. I have to fast tonight and in the morning for the blood work, so we will see what that says about me.

I'm so sorry about your mom, and I hope her health starts to improve soon. I don't think I could handle that type of situation half as well as you have been. It's good that, despite how you're feeling, you're still able to be strong for her. She knows you want nothing more than to be there, and she knows you're with her no matter where you are.

We're going to Va Beach next month. We've been discussing it for a few days, but the hotel is booked so it's pretty much definite. I say pretty much because I don't like getting my hopes up, it scares the crap out of me. I hope it all works out as planned though, usually I get hypomanic (like usual mania for bipolar people, but not as extreme since I'm type two) when I go on trips like these so it may be just what I need to get my head together.

You'll come out of yours too, it just takes times. In the meantime the most you can do is try to fight the urges to get off track, be as healthy as you can, and if you do slip, don't let it get you down more. I know you can do this.

It happens, we all have those cycles. I've kind of been in one myself, and that might be why getting back on track is being so difficult. With everything with my mum, and her now stage 4, I've been stressing myself out. Being 1200 miles away while she is doing chemo again makes me a big anxious. She shouldn't have to do this alone, but when I need my job to survive, I don't really have the choice to leave.

I'm working on the eating, slowly but surely and gradually increasing my activity. But I still have moments where I'm a sugar freak and want to plop on the couch and be a lazy butt.

Walmart sells some for under $20, including Gold's Gym brand, and they usually have pretty good stuff. :)

I want a new swimsuit so bad. I had one I really loved, with little shell, and rhinestone accents, but it ended up in the washing machine and didn't make it out alive. When I went to find a new one I was having trouble finding a good set. Nice top, no matching bottom, or right size on one part, but not the other. I ended finding a top I liked, but had to settle on a white bottom, and I don't like white swimwear. I'm a female so there's already that paranoia, but I'm also on a birth control cycle that makes my time of the months every three months, so there's a higher chance of surprises. O_O

Speaking of eating habits, I have a bit of a confession to make. I'm not doing so well with that area right now. I've been in a depressed cycle for a few weeks, and my appetite is either really high or nonexistent. I got a little fed up with tracking, which would be find if my mindset was fine because I know well enough what I can eat for loss, or maintenance, while keeping my protein where it should be. I'm doing my best to ride it out without it cutting too much into all the hard work I've been trying to do. I try to make sure what I do eat is still higher in protein, and that I eat enough to not kill my muscles too much. Plus I need to have the energy to workout, which I'm still consistent on.
Not depressed about anything in particular, just one of those cycles that comes and goes. I'm not miserable all the time, just sad, angry, anxious or some mix of them more often than usual. It'll pass. We might be going to VA beach again this summer, so maybe that'll help kick me out of the funk I'm in. Traveling/vacation type stuff tends to make me manic, which is far more fun. lol.

Sorry, long post is long.

Never thought of a weight lifting belt, but it's definitely and idea I will keep in mind. I've started new eating habits this week and I've been working on my 10k steps every day. Still haven't jumped in the pool. Tried on a swimsuit and it felt too small. Need a new one.

You could try using a weight lifting belt. It gives your core something to brace against which helps support the back. Not that I'm recommending going all out, I'd ask a doctor about what's safe, but it could make it so you can at least add a little weight to squats without stressing your back. Not that it's a concern right now, just throwing that bit of advice out there. Recovering thoroughly is the most important thing.

I want to swim so bad, but we don't have time to go to the YMCA with Jay working so much, and with the weather lately, swimming outdoors isn't happening. It's flippin July and we've been getting rain and temps under 60. T_T

81 pounds is fantastic! You go girl! I've never done any weight lifting like that before. Probably won't be able to with the back, but I'm eager to get back into the gym and do some weights to build some muscle again. I also need to get my butt back in the pool and get my cardio going again. My 4 mile walk last night on hills was rough.

Wishing you luck! :) It's hard, but you can do it. Never let a slip up get you down either. It takes time to rewire your brain like that, and there's slips along the way, but getting down makes it even harder. I can't tell you how many times I went from going a little over to a lot over because I told myself "well I already screwed up, may as well blow today entirely." I like the quote "don't slash all your tires because you got one flat." Lol.
emoticon

On another note, I had a nice lady on bodybuilding.com check my squat form, and aside from looking down I was nailing it. I didn't want to try to see how high I could go until I knew I had the form down, for safety and all. Knowing I do have it down though, I was able to try to see what my personal best is. Squatted 81lbs! It's not a whole lot yet, but it feels pretty good. My legs could have handled more, another 10lbs at least, but my traps/neck area was not up for it, lol.

Still want to find my best for bench press, and deadlift, but I don't have access to a bench, or a straight bar. If I can get to the Y at some point this summer I will. :D

I definitely need to train myself to think of something other than food. Lately I feel like it's an obsession. I'm always like hey what are we doing for dinner, I'm hungry can I get breakfast, etc. I need to stop obsessing over food. I guess it's a stress trigger with everything going on right now.
Thanks for the tips, I will try them for sure! I have a goal today to stick to what I bing with me and no buying anything extra!

It's probably mostly bloating from the extra food, and probably some water retention. Takes more than two pounds to make a significant change in pant needs.
A method you can try is to put it off for 10 minutes. Just tell yourself you can wait at least ten minutes. Once the first ten is over, tell yourself, well if I made ten, I can do ten more. So one and so forth.
Or do something else you enjoy If it's a response to emotion, try doing something else to ease the emotions you're feeling, or distract yourself. Listen to music that puts you in a good mood.
Write somewhere, get a diary, or just some scrap paper, and write out everything. The best part about using spare paper is you can burn it afterwards and imagine burning away your stress.
Go for a short walk, outside is best, get some fresh air, and get the blood pumping. Any amount of exercise releases endorphin that make you feel better.
Also, brush your teeth. When I was having problems with binging, this was one of the most helpful tips for me. I didn't want to bother eating if it was going to taste that awful.

I hope some of these are helpful. I know emotional eating is hard to conquer, right now your brain immediately thinks of food when stress kicks up. You need to train it to think of something else first when emotions start getting to be too much. :)

my company does not offer short term disability, and I've tried finding an independent plan on my own with no such luck. There is FMLA, but that is for non-paid medical leave, which I cannot afford either. I have a job interview for a new job on Friday. Also if that goes well, I won't be able to take time off right away and keep that job.

I just need to really figure out how to get her here.

I'm really sorry for your news. I wish I could do or say something to help you feel better. I know you have had to take a lot of time off with your surgery and to be with your mom. Do you think you will have any soon so you can visit her again? What if you considered short term disability? Or some kind of leave?

Thursday we got not good news on my mum. Her cancer has spread. She is now stage 4, with new tumors in her armpit lymph nodes and a new tumor showing her left lung. Because the cancer is now in an organ, it automatically makes her stage 4 instead of the 3B she was. I've been crying a lot and my eyes are all funky and goopy now between allergies and the crying.

I guess I don't know what to do or say. I'm depressed. I miss my mum and I wish I was there to be with her. I hate living so far away.

Technically you don't even need to workout to lose weight. As long as you're taking in less than you burn, you body will break down body tissue (fat) for energy. Exercise is just healthy for you, and can help the process along. I'm just going it to gain muscle personally. Congrats on the loss so far, it doesn't have to be fast as long as it's part of a healthy lifestyle you can sustain. :D

I was thinking of getting a posture correcting brace on amazon, they're like funky bras, lol. I really need to address the problem, as not only is it not the best look, it's not good for you either. I hope all goes well for your mom, and I'm glad she's got support through it. Have fun with your walking, it's always good to eat before any amount of cardio. Gotta fuel up. :)

He just did too much too fast. He was not slouching, he did wear his back brace while at work and that forces your posture. I think he just might take a little longer to heal, also men have a lower tolerance to pain than women, so that could be part of it as well.

My sister is in Arizona with my mum for a couple weeks. She few in early yesterday morning. My mom had a new pet scan yesterday, and my sister will be with her Thursday for the results. We are praying for good results. She has been through so much already. Including all the fractures in her spine which my sister says has made her have a hunch back :(

I'm on my 2nd week of a 24-week training schedule for my breast cancer 3 day walk. I need to walk 3 miles tonight, 3 Thursday, 4 Saturday and 3 Sunday this week. So I will be out around the neighborhood shortly. I ate a little first and I'm letting it settle before I get on foot.

I sure hope your husband's back is ok. Maybe he is just taking a little longer to heal than you did. Hopefully that's all it is.

Great job with your working out Almisse. I tried working out the first part of last week, to see how I could do this while doing this job. I got through 2 days. Turns out I'm losing weight anyway, at a slow pace, but at least I'm not gaining. I was eating kinda junky last month because it was my birthday and everyone wants to take you out to eat, so to lose something and maintain and not work out, is pretty awesome. I am going to try my experiment again, but it may end up more weight stuff and body exercises instead of cardio.

How's his posture? It could be something simple like not keeping his spine in alignment when he's sitting or so long. I have poor posture myself, and went I'm sitting at the computer too long it starts to aggravated my back, and I don't even have an existing issue, well, there's the pinched nerve but this has bothered me before that. Hopefully it's nothing serious, and fingers crossed that you don't get anymore rain I have a friend in Dallas, and while her home is ok, the hospital she works at got some flooding.

I took last week as a deload week, I was starting to lose motivation, and wasn't having as much energy. Deloading is basically taking a "week off" from weight lifting/intense exercise. For people who don't want to do absolutely nothing for the week you can do lighter weights, or body weight exercise so that's what I did. Practiced my squat form, did a little more yoga, stuff like that.

The week before that I started doing split routines (went from a full body routine 3x a week to two days upper, and two days lower/abs). Got right back on it yesterday, and I'm feeling great. Even before I got back to working out, I was already looking forward to it more than I was before my "break." I was pretty worried at first since most of the time I stop something I don't start again. Ended up being just what I needed.

Also got a new pre-workout supplement. I like nitric oxide because it increases the blood flow to your muscles, giving you more energy, and stamina. What I'm taking now has that, and some caffeine, so has a little more kick in the energy department. So far so good. Today is leg day so we'll see if it's really up to the challenge. lol.

Sorry for the long post, lol. I should post updates more often so I don't blurt everything out at once.

Hubby tried to go back to work yesterday, now he is moaning and grumpy that he is in a lot of pain. I guess I need to call the doctor to find out why he is hurting so much. I did not have that much pain and I went back to work in the same amount of time. All he does is sit at a desk all day, so I fear something is wrong.

I'm glad you guys are safe from the flooding! It reminds me when Nashville was flooded about 5 years ago. Scary stuff.

I haven't really been working out as much as I could be. I've been doing a PT job and it's really physical, so by the time I get home, I am just exhausted. I guess it's better than doing nothing and just sitting all day.

Prayers that everything is ok with your mom's pet scan!

Yes there is a lot of flooding in my area. The main freeways near our home are shut down for the next week because of flooding from the almost 5" we got Thursday night. My house and neighborhood is ok, we are slightly elevated. I do live near the Trinity river though, so hopefully no rain this week (so far none forecasted), because I have never seen the trinity so full and almost up to the roads near my neighborhood...kind of scary.

Hope you ladies are rocking it. I haven't been cleared for my beach body workouts yet or the gym, but my gym membership is finally re-activated. My goal for the week is 50k steps with my fitbit, need to get that walking in. I'm starting to train for my 60 mile walk in November. I'm going to work on portion control this week too, bad weekend, too much food, emotional eating. Mom has a new pet scan today, we find out Thursday if the cancer is growing and spreading or not. I'm a wreck.

Glad the surgery went well, and that he's able to be home now. :) At least he has someone who knows how he's feeling, and is there to help him out

Good luck with the training, and the rain. Are you getting flooding in your area?

I actually have 3 female cats...all of them are fixed. So no annoying in heat moments :)

Sorry been MIA, hubby had spine surgery a week ago today. I brought him home from the hospital Saturday afternoon. Now he just has to fight through the discomfort and heal!

I've started training for the 3-day walk. The 24-week training period starts this week. I need to get in 3 miles every other day of walking this week. Now if this dang rain would hold off, I swear you think I live in Washington state, not TX.

Guess not, lol.

That's great that your husband will be getting it done too, I mean, surgery sucks, but it beats herniating your disks repeatedly. At least he'll have a wonderful, attentive caregiver. You're always doing all you can to help others, and that's really amazing.

I take it you have a female cat? My dad made me get rid of my cat when I was younger, he didn't realize how female cats act in heat, and we didn't have the money to get her fixed.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, and I'm sorry you weren't able to attend the funeral. Sending positive vibes, and well wishes during this grieving process. It's never easy losing someone you're close to.

hahaha, that's funny, I guess she didn't think you would want a weight that big?

I'm so tired this morning, my cat woke me up howling really loud again, but her vet appointment isn't till next week...argh. Also the hubby goes in to have the same 360 lumbar fusion on the 20th. He re-herniated his disk and instead of just shaving it off again, they are going to go ahead and just open it all up and put in the titanium like the did me, so he doesn't ever have to worry about a herniating it again. So even though I'm not fully healed, I'll be taking care of him now lol.

A good friend of mine died Friday night, he was killed on his motorcycle on the freeway. It's really sad, I can't imagine not ever hearing from him again, I've known him since 2005, we were in the same car club in Houston. So weird. His funeral is tomorrow but I cannot go, I do not have any time off work, and it's a 5 hour drive. We only get funeral leave for immediate family.

Congrats on getting the go ahead on working out.

Lady, is there any way you can break up a workout throughout the day? Like 3x a day, for ten minutes at a time? Small workouts added up can work just as well as a long one.

I'm just bulking still, going to continue until after June 6th since that's Jay's birthday, and I'm sure it'll be a high calorie day even for a bulk, lol. Then I'm going to cut down until my birthday in Sept. This way not only can I slim down during swimsuit season, but when I start a good, lengthy, winter bulk again I'll already be starting at a lower body fat point than I was when I started this time around.

I'm doing heavier lifts, bought a 20lb dumbbell about a week ago, and wanted a second, but it was the last one in stock. With a second I can double my lunge weight, increase my hip bridge, and shoulder shrug weight, and keep better form on shoulder presses (no matter how hard I try not to, I always lean to the side with one).

Funny story though, I bought my second one the other day, and all I had in line was that, and a Monster drink (it was a long day, lol). The guy behind me in line didn't use a divider, but his stuff was at least a foot away from mine. The cashier rang up the energy drink, put her hand on the dumbbell, and asked "this isn't yours, right?"

She actually figured it made more sense for the guy behind me to put one item up with mine, with the rest of his things way back than for me to be buying a 20lb dumbbell.

Great news on being able to do light workouts again! I'm having a hard time figuring out a workout schedule for myself because I started a new job last week. I pretty much walk several miles a day and pick up boxes and I'm very active at work. So I guess it's better than sitting at a desk and not doing any workouts.

Good morning ladies.
I got the clear to start doing some walking and mild exercise like my wii fit. So I'm going to jump on that today.
My starting weight is 230.4 pounds...I've actually lost weight since surgery because I find myself eating less...about 5 pounds lost. My monthly goal is 10 pounds total gone, starting today, so until June 12.

What has everyone been up to? I'm going to be around more, I need the motivation again to get my strength and stamina back.

Yeah, having stuff like that around is a pain. Do you think bringing some fruit or something else to snack on would help? They have these cocoa covered almonds that come in 100cal packs, and they are amazing. Great way to curb a sweet tooth.

I hope to be off BP meds soon as well, although I don't know, it runs in my family. My sister is thin and fit and healthy but has to take them, our mom and dad both have/had high blood pressure, which sucks, so we will see.

I ate too much yesterday, too many treats laying around the office and no will power, so I need to focus on better choices today and more water as usual. Happy Hump Day!

I agree, but then they just charge you off to collection and all kinds of BS. I need to call physical therapy today, since they never called and set it up with me last week. I really need to get in and get strong, I feel so weak still.

I did get to 10k steps for the first time in a long time yesterday, so woohoo to that! I'm working on my water intake and meal planning this week as well as trying to hit 10k at least twice more this week.

If it's on offset they should be able to sort it all out, insurance companies are such a pain. Hopefully they figure it out soon though. It's not your fault they can't manage a simple payment redirect.

Yes they did a pre-authorization for my surgery. The problem is they probably billed it wrong. My insurance says it's United Health care, but it's actually an offset of it, and they have to bill the information on the back to a company called All-savers, not united healthcare. It's a big mess and I'm so tired of it.

Glad it wasn't shingles and hope you are feeling better! And I despise insurance, especially when you know it wasn't just brought up to them that you need surgery. I hope it all gets straightened out soon!

Doesn't insurance have to approve it before it's even done? I hate dealing with insurance crap. I have to get an MRI done (routine test for someone with chronic migraines), and apparently my doctor had a heck of a time trying to get it approved. That was just an MRI, I can't imagine bigger procedure like surgery. Hopefully they stop being stupid, and approve it.

Not shingles...thank goodness, was just a rash from the hospital. It has cleared up with the antibiotics they put me on for the sinus infection and bronchitis I do have though. They said it's normal to have a low immune system out of the hospital because they were pumping me full of steroids and antibiotics while in there....oh well. I'm starting to feel better.

I did get the staples and stitches removed yesterday. Next up is physical therapy. I need to go 2-3 days a week for at least a month. I also need to remember to call the hospital back today, they are trying to tell me my insurance denied my surgery...always something.

Hope you guys are well. My weekend was uneventful except for getting a bit more walking in. Just taking it a day at a time.

Hope you don't have shingles!

I am hanging in there. I was hired for a PT job today and I'm excited because I can continue to do my volunteering and anything else I need/want to do. Nothing planned for this weekend but my husband is doing a few things for me. I may head to the library and do a little shopping.

I hope the appt goes well, and I really hope you don't have shingles. My brother had them when he was younger, and they didn't seem like a fun experience. :( Great job on the steps!

Good morning ladies...and happy Friday. Yes Monday was my 35th birthday...I'm getting old! lol

The staples and stitches come out Monday, I can't wait! I have an appointment with my normal doctor this morning though, I fear I've come down with a sinus infection and I want her to check a rash that has formed on my rib cage since the hospital, make sure it's just from rubbing and not shingles or something. My sister has had shingles and it did attack the nerve right under and around her breast and rib cage. I know my immune system is probably slightly down because of all the antibiotics they pumped me with in the hospital (fear of staph infection). But I am up to about 4500 steps a day so far, that's great considering I still have all the stitches and staples in me.

How are you ladies doing? Anything fun planned for the weekend?

I've only had small amounts of stitches at any point in time, and even those were annoying. I can't imagine how itchy yours must be. At least it's getting better though. Hopefully you can get out, and about a little bit soon. Don't push too hard though, you still have a lot of healing. :)

I truly have amazing friends that helped me get the kid to and from school, etc. I am not allowed to drive.
My stitches in my stomach are starting to itch so bad. I want to scratch, but I am scared to tear anything. It is kind of frustrating! All that matters is each day gets a little better! I'm eager to get out of the house though. Between 5 days in the hospital and not allowed to leave the house either...I'm kind of stir crazy. I need the hubby to charge my fitbit so I can put it back on and start tracking steps and working my way back up!

You're not a burden, you'd help any of those helping you if the situation was reversed, and knowing you you'd never see it as a burden. :) Just keep taking care of yourself, all anyone wants is to see you at full health. I'm sorry to hear about your husband's grandmother.

Thanks ladies, just happy to be home. The pain comes and goes. I try not to take too many pain meds. I will start trying to do some work from home on Thursday and work my way back up. I will have friends take care of me next couple days, come check on me. My hubby's grandmother died the night I got home and he needs to go out of town for the funeral. I feel kind of a burden on people right now :(

So glad you are home! I'm sorry you spent some extra time in the ICU, but it sounds like you are on your way to mending! Definitely take it easy and one day at a time!

Glad everything turned out ok! Aside from the complications, of course. :( The end result is that you're home, and healing, and that's what's important. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

That's a lot of staples, and I can't imagine the pain. At least the surgery is over, and before you know it, this will be behind you too.

Sounds like you ladies are doing fantastic! So proud of both of you. Keep up your routines and you will get where you want to be.
I am finally home from the hospital. I came home around lunch time yesterday, surgery was really early Wednesday morning. Had some small complications after surgery that kept me in the ICU for 4 days. Not how I had hoped things to turn out, but all that matters is I am home now and on the mend. I have 24 staples in my lower spine, and however many stitches in my abdomen from my belly button down about 3 inches. I have to get up and walk as much as I can, so I have my old lady walker. I won't lie, my body hurts, but it's a take it one day at a time now...and hope for the best in the end.

While down, I'm working on getting my steps up a few each day, making sure I stay hydrated and don't do things I am not supposed to mess up my surgery.

The staples come out on the 27th. From there I start PT and will hopefully be back on my way to be a walking training leader for my 3-day team and our 60 mile walk for breast cancer in November :)

I hope you're doing ok Chrimson, even if you can't see this post yet, I'm thinking of you. :)

Good luck on your goal Lady, you can do it!

I'm at 134 down from 141 from my last bulk phase. I want to go on another bulk phase when I get to 130-132 again as I still have a long way to go when it comes to forming a good muscle base.
This time I want to do it the right way though. There's "dirty bulking" that I did over winter where you just eat a surplus of calories of whatever. Then there's "clean/controlled bulking" which is much better for summer. Since women can't gain a lot of muscle really fast, having too high of a surplus adds more fat.
Eating 10%-20% of my daily energy expenditure, sticking to (a least mostly) clean foods, with sufficient protein will allow me to build a little muscle over the next few months without gaining a lot of fat with it, which would really kill my motivation, and probably take a toll on my self esteem. Over winter I gained about fifteen pounds in a few months, with a max of about four pounds of that being muscle. So yeah, it was noticeable, and despite being happy to be working on toning up, it was still a bit hard to deal with.
I just got an awesome shaker bottle, and got a $60 container of zero carb protein powder or half price so I'm so ready to get started lol. At this rate it'll be a week or two depending on if I wait until the 130lb or 132lb mark. :D The reason I chose zero carb protein powder isn't because I'm trying to go really low carb or anything, I just get enough carbs easily enough from my diet as is, lol.

Wow, that was a lot, but I felt some of what I'm working on might need to be expanded on, haha. I guess I also get really excited, and tend not to have many people to talk about it with.

Hanging in there. Can never get the water intake down. I actually met my first weight goal last week, so I was happy. Not sure how much I could have gained over the Easter holiday. I have a mini weight goal set for Memorial Day, so I am hoping to hit that as well.

We'll be thinking of you!

thank you ladies!
I check into the hospital tomorrow morning at 5:30 AM, so less than 24 hours from now (CST time). I have a lot to do today, including picking my husband up from the airport at 10:00 PM tonight. I will also be assisting in our monthly and quarterly data push to our live website at work. So I will probably not sleep at all tonight, but I guess it doesn't matter since they will be putting me to sleep at the hospital anyway.

How is everyone doing with their spring goals? My goal is to get through this and PT and be able to start long distance walking again to start!

Yup, you have to love the amount of taxes the middle class has taken out of our paychecks. I was joking with my hubby last week, I told him, you know if I quit my job, I could get this surgery for free! He told me yeah, this is true, but would like be getting the best doctors and hospital if you were having it done free. He makes a valid point.

I might not be on spark for a few days since I am not exactly sure how long my hospital stay is and how long I will be dopey on pills. But I will keep everyone updated. I did post a blog with updates on my mom and the cancer over the weekend if any of you are interested.

Taxes...one of the two things we can't avoid. Aren't those of us who are able to work and pay taxes blessed? Our kids grow up before we realize it, enjoy every minute! Good luck with the surgery!

My daughter is starting to show a lot of interested in fashion and design. She asks if she can flip through my in-style magazines and last night I introduced her to mod-cloth a vintage style clothing store online. It's cute to see her interested in dresses and such since she's always been about her tshirts and jeans. She's growing up too fast, can't believe she will be 15 in just a couple months.

My surgery is this coming Wednesday. I got all my pre-op work done yesterday. I also paid all the dang taxes I owed yesterday. Between the down payment on surgery and the 3900 I coughed up to uncle Same yesterday. I'm broke :(
