I was lucky enough to get a Sparkmail from one of Debbie's friends she is doing well and she will keep me posted hopefully she will be home from hospital soon. Keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer for her.

Well another blizzard like storm hitting the area today - 6-10 inches and 50 mph wind gusts. The sheriff's dept just issued a Level 3 Emergency, which means stay off the road or risk getting a ticket. Work put a message out that they are delaying opening 2 hrs...why, it is only suppose to get worse? The message may change. I called in and left a message that I wasn't coming in. We will be paid for the day if they stay closed otherwise will probably have to use personal time. They are cleaning the roads, but it hasn't helped. There has been plenty of accidents already. Guess I can clean my house today, which needs it and maybe make some soup.

Last night Jack Jack had a close encounter with my clippers, so his coat is now nice and short. As a reward I took him and Farley on a short walk to the convenience store so I could pick up some milk. He was a very happy camper, and Farley was quite happy to get out too. He still walks with pep in his step. I'm so blessed that he's still with me and still spry.

I hate the thought of muddy dogs. I know my yard will be a mess once the snow melts. I slipped on some ice last night and hurt my good hip. Only hurt for the day. Making stuffed green peppers for dinner and left overs. I had 4 peppers to use up. Murphy was going nuts, he loves them. I figure I need to start eating better and saving money, so that means fixing meals at home!!

It's finally NICE outside!!!!!!!!! In fact, it's gorgeous. I took Jack Jack for a 5km walk today. He was no longer buff, more like a brown, but we both enjoyed it. I came home and bathed him, and will probably shave his coat off when he's dry. I love how nice he looks with hair, but he loves his walks and I don't have time to bath him every time we walk. So the hair will come off to make life easier for both of us.

Good boy, Kermit! I got off work a little early today to enjoy the sunshine and warmer (40f) this afternoon. I took the dogs for a short walk to the end of the street and we went down to the water or ice at this time of year walk a little ways out...not too far, I wouldn't trust the ice now. The snow was rather deep, so the dogs really had to work at walking through it. They were tired when we got home and also soaked. The ice boats were out yesterday, but not today. Yesterday was probably their last time for the season. This year has been something as Lake Erie was like 98% covered in ice. Watched vidoes from locals that took their snowmobiles out to the lighthouse, which is about 8 or so miles, it was something to see. Only get to do that in a boat!!

She most definitely thinks she is!
Last night was obedience with Kermit . . . he was awesome! He has a lot of trouble with loose leash walking, because he's always scavenging the floor for crumbs. Last night he paid attention to me and did some really nice work. Then we did stays and he tried so hard . . . but the dog next to him kept getting up, and when she ran over to me he broke his stay and came to me. But man, he really worked through some tough distractions. I was super proud of him.

Last night Gracie and I had a therapy visit at one of the big hospitals here in Calgary. I really wasn't feeling much like going out, as it's cold and I'm still a bit short on energy, but as always, I'm glad we went. Almost every person we visited thanked us for coming, and Gracie was a hit. She LOVES the therapy visits and she charms everybody. I'm so glad we can do this. Tonight we do kids reading to her at the library.

Cheri, I hope you're staying in and staying warm. I can't believe that we're in the middle of YET another deep freeze. I have to say that, for the most part, Calgary's winter hasn't been too terrible. But these plunges in temperature are brutal. Right now it's -40 (C or F) with the wind chill, and it's coooooooold.
Does anyone watch the show "Too Cute"? It's on Animal Planet, on the weekends. I love it! They have puppies, kittens and other baby animals. It just soothes me and gives me a reason to smile. I recommend it if you want some fun stuff with dogs in it. :)

I've got a wicked virus . . . I've been off work since Monday and I dragged myself to the doctor today. She confirmed that it's a virus, so no antibiotics needed. She gave me a puffer to help me breathe and told me to stay home from work the rest of this week. If I get short of breath she said to come back in, but that my lungs sound good right now. Ugh. Fortunately the dogs are behaving REALLY well and keeping me company on the couch.
Just dropping into say hi and give you an update. I just got through putting my kids out in the backyard for a while to run off some steam. It is too cold for a walk right now whind chill is 5 degrees.
I went to the dermatologist yesterday morning. He removed 3 moles from my back to test. I should get the results Monday. I need to have an MRI between now and next Wednesday. Then next Wednesday I have an appointment with a surgeon to see if surgery is a possibility to remove the tumor.
I am getting better at the waiting game.
Leslie and I went to our favorite sushi place for my birthday last evening. Our friend Kathy and her husband joined us. Though I shouldn't have had any. They brought my favorite cake out Red Velvet. We shared it with restaurant staff. So I didn't bring any home with us. My niece and her husband want to take us out to dinner tonight. So I don't have to cook tonight.
Cheri, stay off your feet. Al will get over playing the housekeeper eventually. Look at it this way he learn appreciate you more.

Went to bed early last night. I was feeling so exhausted all day. I hope it is better today. I hate being at work and feeling that way. It just makes the day drag. I plan on workingout tonight after a meeting at the Y. I want to be awake! Can't wait for the snow to melt so I can take the furkids out for a walk. More snow this coming weekend. We broke the snow record yesterday from 1977-78 winter of over 73 inches. I think they said another 5 inches on the way. Are you kidding me!!

Cheri, you'd better stick with non-weight-bearing unless you DO want surgery. If the bones don't heal properly you'll be in for a rough ride. If Al isn't cleaning sufficiently, then tell him he has to find somebody else to help out. You need to sit and STAY!!!!

I have another week of non weight bearing but I talked my way out of an operation .I will be a good girl she said "The correct response is I will stay off it one more week if I don't want an operation ," so I hung my head and stopped wagging my tail and said (sulkily ) I will stay off it one more week. Then she had mercy and gave me an air cast as long as I kept off it for another week.I think I have been hanging out with Lacey just long enough she told me I had puppy dog eyes !!!!!!

Hope you don't have to have surgery and you get the walking cast.
We had thunderstorms yesterday and last night. It melted some of the snow and I had a huge puddle in front of my steps going out to the yard. Sophie did not want to get her feet wet, so she made a huge jump, but yet she walks in the snow and still has wet feet. Murphy walked right through it. I had to scoop some of the water away because it was getting icy and it was about 2-3 inches deep and I didn't want to get my feet wet either. Doesn't last long since the snow is still melting, but we are supposed to get cold temps again and it will again be an ice rink.

Oh Cheri, being stuck at home is NO fun. You can only read, surf the net and watch TV for so long before it's ALL boring. I know when I get sick I sleep for the first day and then very quickly get tired of all of those activities.
Debbie, March 11th seems like so long from now . . . but if the doctor says that everything looks good, that's reassuring!
I am checking in. I am sorry I haven't been around lately. I have been working on getting myself back on track. Katie and I have walked 5 days this past 7 days. We are up to 1/2 a mile a walk at this time. I sure miss my longer walks with her.
I will get the test results from the biopsy on March 11th. The doctor who did biopsy says it looks good.

Kelly, I saw your picture of Kermit on FB yesterday.
I enjoyed the movie, Monuments Men, yesterday afternoon. It had its funny parts, with Bill Murray and John Goodman, which was needed considering it was a about Hitler and steeling works of art. Unbelievable the amount of art and gold he had hidden away that was found and destroyed, which was a shame. The man was sick!

I spent the whole day at a scent hurdle trial - our group of people has four teams that run, so my job was to coordinate everybody and make sure they were on deck when it was their turn to race. It was a fun day, and Kermit got to come along to get used to the trial setting. I'm hoping he'll be ready to run in May or June. Then I ran errands and came home. I'm pretty tired, but not as tired as Kermit is!
What is scent hurdle?
Two teams, consisting of four dogs each, run against each other in a relay. The dogs need to go over four jumps (hurdles) to reach a box at the end that contains four dumbells, one of which has their owner’s scent on it. They need to correctly identify their dumbell, pick it up and bring it back over the four jumps and cross the start line. Only then can the next dog go. The dogs can carry the dumbell any which way they like, as long as they don’t drop it until they are over the line. There is one team member at the box whose responsibility it is to keep it fully loaded with dumbbells. Once a dog picks up their dumbbell it is replaced with a “dummy” (marked with an X) so that each dog needs to find their dumbbell out of four options. The team that successfully gets all four dogs and their dumbbells over the finish line first wins. The team with the most wins at the end of the night gets the distinction of being 1st. This sport can be played by big and small dogs, however they do need to be registered with the CKC to compete. The height of the jumps is based on the height of the smallest dog on the team.

I have been watching the Olympics on CBC only because we don't get NBC on our cable system....something to do with contracts with the tv station...I don't know...anyway, only thing that I don't like about it is they don't talk much about the Americans of course. But I do root for Canadians too!

Cheri, if you go to the CBC website you can watch a ton of live streaming and recordings from the Olympics. I've even watched portions of some of the events on my phone, here at work. Not a ton, but the stuff I love.

So is everybody watching the Olympics? So far there have been some pretty awesome stories! My favourite sport of curling is in the early stages, but both the men and women are holding their own. My other favourite sport is figure skating, which is going about as expected right now. What sports do you guys like watching?
