I use my freezers (yes plural), for stocking up in the summer. I freeze veggies from my garden and fruits that I buy from farmers market/classified ads and small stores that sell local ingredients. Also for cooking ahead, so I have many meals ready for the oven when I am not willing to cook. And I have a stash of homemade bread. I have a section of one freezer dedicated to just corn on the cob.

I use plastic containers for my bulk fruit and veggie storage, and 5x9 inch foil pans for meals.

Hoping you'll forgive me but this team member needs your help.

I was just nominated as one of 5 people/ organizations for the Harlequin More Than Words award for my work with Home Front Hearts. We are the only military-affiliated nominee and the top 3 people/ organizations will receive $15,000 in support for their organization. Home Front Hearts would love to receive this award and funding because it will allow us to serve more military families.

Is there anyway you might help us spread the word about this award? There is a 30 day voting period - people can vote once a day (per IP address) now through November 11th.

This is the link:

Your help will mean direct support for the military families Home Front Hearts serves. Please vote daily, FB, Tweet, and in all manner possible spread the word!

So very grateful,
Randi

We freeze a lot of fruit. We buy or pick quantities of blueberries, cherries, peaches, cranberries and strawberries and freeze them. We either eat them as is, in yogurt, in smoothies, or, if I didn't make enough jam out of fresh fruit, I can use the frozen to make jam in the dead of winter. I also make and freeze cranberry juice. We buy and freeze apple cider, tomatoes and tomato sauce, lots of soups, the veggies that we may not get around to eating in season, and some meats.

I am curious to how all my other Freezer Fan's use their freezer? Do you use it just to stock up on freezer foods that are on sale? Do you use it to preserve veggies/fruits from your garden? Do you cook for an entire day and eat for the month?

I love using my freezer and I am I always looking for new ways to use it!

I use mine to stock up on really great deals, this is my first year I froze a lot of veggies from my garden and I don't cook so I can eat for a month but I always have several meal's frozen for when I don't have the time to actually cook dinner. I also freeze alot of soups/stews/sauces. Oh and I can't forget the mountain of Girl Scout cookies that I can help buying.

What about you?

Rebecca
