Lady, the others are right, kill her with kindness. My dad always says with people like that you should smile sweetly and agree with them, it totally wrong foots them and they don't know how to react!!
I am 55 and we went abroad to Italy for the first time last year and had a great time. Live your life how you want to and if others don't like it...tough..

know what you mean about the voices though, my hubby now is the most wonderful man who is always telling me how great I am and beautiful( and I pay the optician a lot of money for his rose coloured glasses lol), but when I am down it is always my ex hubbys voice I hear in my head telling me I am fat and ugly. we just have to tell ourselves every day that we are great, and we are

ps...enjoy Ireland, I am just over the water in the UK emoticon

Lady Irish...turn the tables on her and "kill" her with kindness. I did that on one of the jobs I was doing and wrote an apology for doing something that made her upset with me...I had done nothing...but she accepted that apology and later admitted that I was right and had more experience than she.

55 is not too old to make travel plans for something you've always wanted to do...if I had the opportunity to travel to Ireland for 2 weeks...I'd jump at it and I'm 67+. emoticon emoticon

I am so sorry that your deskmate was able to make you feel so bad. I'm always amazed how some people have to bash others. It makes you wonder what is in their life that makes them act this way!!
Don't show weakness, kill them with kindness and always C.Y.B. keep good notes and don't let yourself get rattled!!!
Enjoy planning that trip!!!

Watching salt intake also trying not to buy foods that have high fructose corn syrup, sugar, rice syrup, corn syrup, fructose, sucrose etc. in the first three ingredients.

No foods that have more than 3 ingredients that I can not pronounce.

If an item has more than 10 ingredients I put it on the Do Not Buy List as it is too processed.

You are never too old to make changes. My mom is 74 and even after having a stroke she has lost almost 60 pounds. Because of it she doesn't have to take her injectable insulin very much, if at all, anymore. She is my inspiration to keep me going when I feel like giving up. And I think I have inspired her to want to be able to walk longer distances even if it is with her walker for balance.

emoticon hang in there Lady! We all have really bad days at work. Everyone needs a goal, a wish or a hope. Plan that trip, 55 is not ot old to have dreams. Without hope what is the point? Oh and kill that deskmate with kindness, she won't know what hit her!I'm having a bad month at work but I am hanging in there so you do the same. We are all here for you to vent to. Love ya Marcie

Lady Irish I have worked in situations like that too, so I understand how it can make you feel. May I suggest, that the next time that your deskmate does something especially nice for you, get her a card of thanks. I did that with someone and they changed from night to day. It was amazing. Then I could do no wrong in her eyes. I wish you the best!

Cheer up Lady! I think you're fabulous and you SHOULD be planning your trip to Ireland. You couldn't possibly have such a lovely page and have come this far if you were stupid. It sounds to me that the deskmate needs help. Remember, God loves you and one of these days your deskmate will reap what she/he sows. In the meantime, just do your job and document everything you do and everything deskmate does/says. Keep coming back, Lady!

I'm in a very low place today. I've got a deskmate who constantly loudly points out my every error (or what she imagines to be my errors -- most of the time she's wrong). Friday I knocked myself out helping her with a major workload and she "thanks" me by telling me I'm not putting enough claims in each envelope!

There are days (like today) when I wonder if everyone who told me I'm stupid and useless isn't right. There's a voice that keeps telling me that there's no use to trying to lose so much weight at this "advanced" age (I'm 55), and that I'm really over the edge to plan a two-week trip to Ireland next year (never mind that I want to go so badly that they'll probably have to throw me out when the two weeks are up). If I was at home instead of work, I'd probably lay down and cry right now.
