No Betty, I don't take that much at all. I take 1000 in the morning and 1000 at night. What I seen the difference in feeling better and not feeling as tired as I always use to be was the taking of Vit. B12. Anna

Anna, do you take the 50000 a day? Does it make you feel better?

Thank you all for your help. Kathy, I read the article and it makes sense. When I went to the Dr in July she confirmed the fibromyalgia. I am so tired all the time and have no energy whatsoever. My legs hurt, my hips hurt and sometimes it hurts me to lay on the bed. I got the vitamin D today and took the first one. I am to take 2 a week for 3 months. I hope it helps, I am thinking positive. But, I am not considering gastric bypass surgery. I am going to try to loose the weight by not over eating. Again, thank you all. Betty

Here's the link to that article from Carol.

Pam, why do they say you need to take it? I do know that some of my meds say to stay out of the sun...but there doesn't seem to be any effort to replace the Vitamin d.

I have had to take Vitamin D also. I took 50,000 units once per week for 8 weeks. Then I had to do it again for 8 weeks. And then I had to do it again for 12 weeks. I need to have my Vitamin D level rechecked to see if it is back down again yet.

Betty, I looked up the Vit. D dose they say you should be taking. Are U having weight loss surgery? I found this.

Is vitamin D 50,000 IU daily too much?
I am getting ready to have the gastric sleeve weightloss surgery done. I am severely low on Vitamin D. My regular doctor put me on vitamin D 50,000 IU once per week but the bariatric surgeon wants me to start taking it daily for months. I told my regular doctor and he said NO WAY! Now I have the battle of the doctors. I checked with my all time favorite pharmacist and he agreed with my regular doctor.

I went to my favorite search engine (www.metacrawler.com), and found a pretty good--and short-- article on Vit. D deficiency. Here's the link:

http://www.fightingfatigue.org/?p=1220

You will probably need to copy and paste that url to get to that page.

I must say, I never realized that lack of Vit. D could be that serious! It can be the source....or at least contribute to..a number of serious health issues. (Hey, go read all about it!)

Sorry that's a new one for me. Before you fill the perscription talk to your pharmacist. Ask if it is available over the counter and which would be cheaper. I buy my iron pills over the counter and they are cheaper than if I used a perscription. Good luck. Marcie

Anybody ever have there doctor put them on vitamin D 50000 for a while because of deficiency? I went to the Doctor July 17 and got a letter today with a prescription for vitamin D in it and a note to take 2 per week for 3 months and follow up with more blood work. I guess I will go get it filled tomorrow. Hope it does not make me get hungry. Betty
