Charlene - Congrats for having the sense to take a machine back rather than sitting around like my treadmill does. As long as you continue to get exercise, it doesn't really matter what type. Just continue to challenge yourself with whatever type of exercise you are doing.

I know we've talkied about this before, but I'll reply anyhow. I love/hate the elliptical trainer. It will, as someone else said, kick your tail. It works muscles that you didn't even know you had, even if you have been walking. But the benefits of that is that you really start seeing results. I haven't been using it long or regularly enough this time to see the same results yet, but a few years ago when I really used one regularly for 20 - 30 minutes 4 or 5 days a week, I was seeing amazing results through my abdomen, waist, hips, thighs...it works everything. Right now I can push myself to 17 minutes, but at a slow steady speed. I am doing 1 mile on it in 17 minutes. I've been doing it on and off since the second or third week of April. I do think I was able to build back up on it a little faster this time than the first time I did it. I guess after I finally got those muscles moving again, they remembered what to do. I want to get up to 20 minutes and then start playing with the speed and incline a little bit. Definitely don't try to do more than a couple minutes a day to start building up and don't worry about the speed. Take it slow and easy until you get used to the way it moves. Good luck!
I have used it on occasion at the YWCA - is going to take me some time to work up to any length of time on it . I can now do 2 minutes no problem with the breathing part but my legs are like jello by then. So am slowly working on increasing it - going to take some time though

I am buying an eliptical on Monday and I was wondering if there is anyone on here that uses the machine? And if so what benefits do you see? And how long have you been using it? I have been using the Walk the pounds away DVD and walking, but thought I would add something different. Besides, part of my daughters said they would like to use one too.
