I had a laugh about that. I have a favorite red top that will probably stay with me for sometime. I still wear it even though it is loose, but I always feel good when I wear it.

Yep, it felt pretty good! Have to admit to taking a top that has gotten pretty big off the hanger and then putting it back because I really like it, though. Shame on me! emoticon

Hey Lynn! I got rid of a big bag of clothes today to the Kidney Foundation (they pick up!) and a small bag with a few like new items to a friend I've made at the Y. Still have a lot to go, but it's a start!

Vicky, that is so good. After that first bag goes it gets easier, and I think it gives you more determination to keep going. I tried on more clothes today and I bagged up a few more things. My closet it a lot bigger than I thought. We can do it!

I've really just started going through things and starting to whittle away some of the things that are getting too big. I'm really a pack-rat and it is hard! I really need to do it though, but I don't want any excuses to start putting the weight back on instead of going the other direction. I have one bag ready for pick-up. Kidney Foundation is coming on Tuesday so I hope I have another bag ready by then. emoticon

I am continuing to whittle away at my clothes. It is easier to do laundry as I have fewer clothes and I am doing laundry more often. I like to think whoever is getting the clothes from the thrift store is thrilled to get the clothes. Most of the items I donated were bought in the last year and only wore a few times.

I am not being a cheapskate, but I am not buying much for replacement clothes. I started working at the post office (for exercise) and our uniforms are supplied. I have 2 pairs of jeans, yoga pants, 2 pairs of capris, and a few tops to wear evenings and weekends. If I have to dress up I have a problem, however I can make the yoga pants into a dressy enough outfit.

I am going on vacation for 2 weeks, so for sure I have to do laundry while I am away. I am planning on buying a few things in August and I want to lose 10 pounds by then.

Maybe we should talk about how tall we are...I'm 5' 1/2"...so I know that problem too. I like to go to the Goodwill Store that puts thing in bins and you get them by the pound...it's nice to find something I don't have to pay a fortune for and find that it doesn't fit right and if I have to alter or shorten it...I don't worry about ruining it.

Debra - I feel your pain! I am 5' 1" and I always have to cut about a mile off everything I buy. A lot of times the petites don't even work for me because they are shorter in the crotch and my stomach is so large I need that extra room there too. One of my things I can't wait to do - Shop for clothes in a regular store and be able to try things on rather than playing russian roulette and order everthing on-line! emoticon

I dread clothes shopping. It's hard enough being over weight. But I'm 4'11" and that adds to the stress. When the tag says SHORT or PETITE it refers to women about 5'3".
Someday I will be able to take it off the rack again...in the pre-teen department. LOL

I am glad I made the decision to get rid of clothes as they become too big. Not having to think about it feels good. Today I got rid of a couple more things. I will have to go shopping soon or move to a nudist colony ha, ha.

Your right. I think I will go and take a look. We have a nice little shop here in town. All the proceeds go to our local safe house for domestic violence. My friend, Sharon, runs it and she keeps it very neat and clean.
I'm loosing weight slowly but it's steady. So, I don't want to spend alot of money on clothes.
All I need right now is a couple of pairs of jeans, shorts and some tops to hold me over.

Out of frustration and depression I went through all my clothes this past winter and threw out anything that didn't fit. I was so despondent that I threw out ( donated ) everything that was too small thinking that I would never get back into them again.
emoticon
Then I discovered SP at my first Communtiy Weight-Loss meeting.
emoticon
Now that I have lost 22lbs. I sure could use those clothes.

Moon, I started to getting rid of my size 24 pants and my 3 x tops also. I remember Dr. Phil had a show a couple years back and said people should always get rid of the things that don't fit them while losing weight. I am glad to be able to pass things on to someone who can use them. I don't want to go back up ever. Anna

I am going to get rid of my too big clothes by giving them to the Food Line here in town. I just don't want to be tempted this time to give up knowing I have the larger clothes around. Of course I did the same thing 2 years ago and had to go out and buy new clothes. But that was through "dieting" and when I stopped I gained it all back plus 10 pounds. I have come to realize that I will always have to keep track of my food intake for this to stick. No more guessing at what I take in. I am determined that this time it's not coming back.

Okay, I did decide to keep one pair of pants, but as other things get too big, they goes. However, I really don't think I want one of the photo ops.

HA! I don't think my style has changed much in the last 10 or 20 years anyhow! People already probably thing I look like a time warp or a reject from a bag of hand-me-downs! I think when most of them fit, I'll wear them. At least until I get to where I can treat myself to a new wardrobe!

I had every size possible and then I started purging them because when they do fit, I would look like a time warp from the '80's ha,ha. I have few clothes that are in my current size.

Hadn't really thought about it because so far I haven't totally shrunk out of anything, things just aren't feeling so snug anymore. I do think I'm going to have to save a pair of my favorite pants to try that though! It would be great to remind myself where I came from to motivate me to never go back there! Only one pair though. I wouldn't want to have them around to grow back into. I've made that mistake before.

Another related question...does anyone besides me have a whole closetful of clothes in assorted smaller sizes because of yo-yo dieting? I'm trying to shrink out of my biggest sizes now, and will be able to lose quite a bit without having to do much, if any, shopping. emoticon

We've all seen the pictures of people who have lost weight, and they are holding up a pair of their old pants. As you lose weight are you keeping a pair of old pants so you can take a picture like that sometime?
