Gloria, I think, same as you, that SP is not a good place to talk politics. That is why I spoke of my opinions only in generalities that apply to both parties. Mel

I guess it is ďgood afternoonĒ, Iíve been trying to catch up on things since I got up and am still way behind! I've been Googling ways to train my puppy using pee pads ... isn't that going to be fun? lol

Marsha, itís nice youíll be having Spade for the weekend, heís good company too. So many birthdays in August and mine is too, on the 5th, when Iíll be 81. How the years have flown by, do you find it like that?

And Mel, how nice to have a granddaughter come in to houseclean ... when sheís done yours, send her to mine? Lol I think all elections go the same way, they run down the other parties to build up their own, we have that in Canada too. You just have to listen more carefully to what each has to say and make the wisest choice. But, I still firmly believe that SP is not the place for politics or religion, unless thatís what the team is specifically started for ... there are so many varied opinions. ĎNuff said.

Iíve been up at a good time but canít seem to push myself to get my daily chores done. Well, at least Iíve gotten most but still need to shower! Living alone, that can be at any time but I dislike the feeling that Iím behind in my day! So Iíll say bye for now, will pop in later to read any new posts.

Have a nice Friday everyone!

Marsha, Yes I did sleep better last night, thanks. And I am with you about the nastiness that some of the pols indulge in. There must be a better way.

Happy civic day to you, Gloria and so thrilled you are taking the cruise!

Kayne, glad you feel better!

Granddaughter has arrived to do our house cleaning and it is time for me to get Rokki out for a walk. Sunny day here.

Let's make it a great day! Mel

Mel, sorry you didn't get a good night's rest. That always makes for a hard day. Hope you get more rest tonight. I watched some of the Convention, but just hate hearing ones cut down the other parties. To each his own, and may the best person win. I really don't care for either, and feel like not voting at all. I vote absentee so guess I will.

Patti, you do stay busy, and have a lot of projects to pick from. Hot weather I just can't bear working with yarn. I used to do counted cross stitch, but my fingers are as limber as they used to be. I like circle a word, read my Bible, look at magazines Judy gets at the Library free box that people bring in to share.

It is too hot to do anything out, and with this back I just have to do what I can do, and live with it. I will be pet sitting my Son's doggie Yorkie Poo for the weekend, they will pick him up Monday. My Daughter-in-Laws BD so they will come and pick him up and I can give her my gifts. Her BD is the 1st, mine the 4th, and my Son's the 10th. Late DH was the 31st, all in August.

Hope everyone has a great afternoon, going to change into something more comfortable, and maybe get a little shut eye this afternoon.

Welcome to the newbies, and jump right in on any conversation. We are here to share.

Good morning! emoticon

Patti, Thursday IS your Monday and yes, I can see why. Oh my, you do keep busy with a huge variety of things! I do a wee bit of knitting and I love colouring, reading, but thatís about it. I greatly admire you for all that you do.

Mel, Iíd so love to take those walks with you! I think I do envy you them. I live on the river and there is a trail that goes for miles but Iíve never tried it yet. My children think I shouldnít walk there unless someone is with me. Being itís a big city, I think theyíre right. You sure arenít used to the hot weather we get and lucky for you! I hope to raise my Buddy to be well behaved, itís so hard not to spoil a wee puppy though, lol. Iíve watched the convention all week too, some interesting speakers and I canít help it, I love Bill Clinton, LOL.

I looked at your petís photos on your page Kayne, I hadnít realized you had so many and they are all sweet as can be!

Not much doing with me, just trying to stay as cool as I can. Iím going to walk my hallways again today, that is necessary to get more strength in my legs.

Hope to read more posts later when there are more sharing their days with us.

Good Morning to All,

It's Thursday and feels like a Monday for me in a way. Since Hospice, I'm so busy getting everything done while I have someone here with Ed that Thursday thru Sunday when I stay home (mostly) it feels so promising. We'll see how it goes...I have two pair of my DD's pants to alter so my sewing machine is out on the table. There is fabric closeby in case I get the urge to cut out something for myself. I have a butterfly painting project also on the table, a book to read, a CD Book to finish, about three knitting swatches in mind (one finished, one about half-done, one just thinking about it), a new Cookbook software to install, some online craft courses to watch, and of course two looms standing there beckoning to me. The dishes are done, the exercise finished, and all is quiet. MY KIND OF DAY! And to think I have three more days like this to look forward to. You see why it feels like Monday?

Good morning everyone, I have been awake since three a.m.! I do feel groggy. I took Rokki out for a walk-jog starting at 6:25 this morning. We walked (and some jogging too) for an hour but my pedometer showed it was only 2 miles. I wonder how accurate these pedometers really are. It was foggy and cool and only one other person was out walking besides me. I could only see a little way out over the ocean. The sun will be out later this morning. It actually felt good to walk early in the cool fog. I got less overheated that way although I still perspired.

The trip out of town to dh's doctor appt. was o.k. except for the heat that we are not acclimated to. I was able to take Rokki in to the dr's office and sit with her in the air-conditioned waiting room. They thought she was so well behaved and she was.

Yesterday I don't know how but my day got away from me. All I got done was some marketing for supper things and then got supper made. We ate our suppers on the sofa watching the Democratic convention. DGGD12 was here and stayed the night. We very often have one great grand or another staying the night and I guess that's pretty nice really. We never get a chance to develop "empty nest syndrome." lol

Waving to all, Mel

I have found pictures of all of them. They are posted on my page, if you are interested.

If I can get my old computer up and running, I will post a better picture of me. It was taken in 2007, but except for getting older, and putting on weight, it's still not too bad.

Karen, I've had dogs too and loved them. My last two were Chihuahuas and this one I'm getting is also. I love the breed. Given my age, I had to think about it for weeks, weighed the pros and cons and when my niece told me about these new pups, I saw them and my heart melted. I know that if anything happens to me, either one of my daughters or the pups owner will take him. I had to have all my bases covered and am okay about everything.

I live alone, don't drive, and generally go out Saturday evenings for supper with my sister and her husband. A niece also comes at least twice a month for an entire day, we get all my running around done then. My son is at the lake from May 1st to end of Sept but he comes often on a Sunday morning for coffee and visit when he's home. Daughters seem to come only on special occasions, like my birthday coming up. I realize everyone has their own life to live and I understand.

But I can feel lonely at times, especially during our long winters, and a dog is ideal company, great companions. I don't think I ever want to be without one.

Your dogs sound adorable and I bet they are shown much love every single day.

p.s - everyone ... because there are several new members, please don't be offended if I sometimes call you by the wrong name. I'll get to remember, excuse me.

Finally, got a photo of sorts taken and posted. One of my four-legged babies decided to join me, even though he has his back to the camera! It's darker than I had hoped it would be, but I hope it will work. I'll keep trying.

Since one of the topics of discussion is pets, I will jump in.

I have 2 dogs. Bailey is a maltese mix. She will be 14 soon & is really slowing down. I inherited her from my DGS. Mattie is a terrier/shhz mix. He is 12. My significant other got him as a recovery gift (triple by pas). When SO passed away in 2013, I inherited him. I love my dogs & am especially attached to Mattie since he was so loved by Rolland.

I don't think I will get any more pets when these are no longer with me. I don't travel much any more but when I do their care is a concern. My sister usually helps but when I want to go with her then I have to board them or leave them unattended for a few days. The cost is also a factor...food, vet bills, hair care. I will sure miss them so might change my mind. I love dogs.

It does sound as though it's best to wait Joyce.

I just might get Buddy on my birthday, August 5th, depends on if he's ready to leave his mother! What a BD gift that would be and one I would never forget!!

I think we will wait on the cat. As much as I would love one, waiting is the best way. February in our area could be very, very snowy and my daughter might not be able to get out if the roads are bad. I would worry about the cat the entire time we were away. So waiting is the best solution.
I will enjoy our kids pets in the meantime.

Wow only 14 days until Buddy arrives. You have to be getting very excited.

Hello everyone! Welcome to Wednesday a.l.k 'Humpday' because we're over the hump and entering the last half of the week!

Isn't that sweet how your DGS's loved that card, Joyce! They are really at an active, cute age. My grandsons are all grown but my great-grandson is 6 and I get much joy from him.
You and hubby will have a fabulous time in Florida, great to get away from the cold! A cat isn't a great choice right now unless your daughter would come in daily to tend to him. If she would and you got him, it's a few months till you go to Florida and you'd enjoy him. Just sayin'.

Our scales don't always show our progress Joyce, sometimes as we lose fat and gain muscle, the scales will stay the same or maybe even show a gain! Don't ever get discouraged. My scales aren't being good to me right now so I've put them away for a couple of weeks then will see what they have to show me!

I got up and ready for a 9 o'clock appt with my cleaning lady but she didn't come. I know she's been on holiday the past week in Florida so I sent her an email because it shows on my calendar that she'd be here this morning. Oh my, how embarrassed I was, to learn she had asked to change it to tomorrow and I had agreed!! Forgetfulness on my part!

Might do laundry today but that's all the plans I have. Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning. Had a good time at the birthday party for my DGSS. Their birthdays are just a week apart so my DD and DSIL through a combined party. The boys are now 3 and 4. As much as they liked their gifts, the favourite was a Cookie Monster card that sang Happy Birthday. They walked around for an hour with the cards up to their ear listening to Cookie sing. It was so cute.

Monday, the Gazebo we purchased finally arrived at the store so we were able to put it up yesterday. Rather DH put it up with a very little help from me. It is so nice to be able to sit on the deck out of the sun.

We have booked a trip to visit my DBIL and DSIL in Florida in February. We will spend 5 days with them before they go on a cruise and they very kindly told us to stay and use their condo while they are away. Then we will spend another couple of days with them after their return. So for the cost of the flights and some food we will have 3 weeks in Sunny Florida away from the snow and ice.

I almost got a cat. If it wasn't for the trip I probably would have taken him. He was an 8 year old silver/grey tabby. Beautiful cat but three weeks is too long to leave a pet even if we had been able to get my DD to come in and feed him. We will wait and see if I still want one when we get back.

Even though I kept to my food plan all week, I didn't lose anything this week but I didn't gain any either. I need to walk more this week and see if that helps. It sure is a long process.

My little grandson asked if he could visit me today so I had better go and get dressed. It is 7.30 and I am already behind.LOL. Have a great day every one. Joyce

Good morning.

Iíve been busy cleaning under my bed and itís so warm in my place. When I first moved in my apt we shoved some things under bed so now I had to take them out, sort them and pack what Iím keeping in storage bag/box under bed again. Now when my new pup goes under there, heíll find his way back out, lol. That will be my biggest job today, have to wait till itís a bit cooler to do any deep cleaning.

Kayne, I use Word to do my messages. That way you can go back and forth, read then reply. When finished, you copy and paste it on here. Nice way to say Hi to everyone.

Marsha, I got an email from you this morning asking for my address but didnít answer yet, wanted to check with you first to be sure it is you. Let me know? I hope you got well rested last night.

Mel, no wonder you and Rokki are slim and trim! A 50 minute walk/jog would be enough but then to get on the indoor bike . . . oh my! I need you to live closer so I could go on those walks with you. Hope all goes well for hubby today.

Youíre good with your exercising too Patti!

Iím going to change my clothes, go downstairs to main floor and walk that hallway. I like the main floor because I get to see more people down there!

How on earth do all of you keep track of what the others are doing?????? Takes notes or something? I think I will have to do that until I get used to everyone. Maybe having some knowledge of all of you will help me. So for now note taking is in my daily tasks in the future. Hope I can read my own handwriting!

Patti, sorry I didn't get to answer your post of yesterday, but just too tired last night. Yesterday did a number on me with all the walking and heat. I slept like a log. :)

Have a great day.

Just reading your post this morning. Was too tired last night to read, or answer.

Hope you have a safe trip today. Yes as we age, it seems like more health issues pop up.

Keep us posted on your trip today.

I've read all the posts but it's too late to post much tonight.

And tomorrow I have to drive DH an hour and a half to another town for a medical appt. and back. This is a catheter related appt. as he has been under scrutiny regarding his prostate. At 83 we shouldn't be surprised this is coming up for him, I guess. We may get back home sorta late.

Did a 50 minute walk-jog with Rokki and then 20 mins. on the indoor bike while watching the convention.

Nite all, Mel

Mel, I'm glad you got your pictures transferred. There was only one of the pictures that I "cried" over...the one with me holding my Volunteer of the Quarter certificate. Luckily, the Assistant Manager of the Senior Center took several with her camera. I'll ask her to send me one .

Kayne, Good to see you back on. I was wondering why we didn't see anything from you. Sounds like we are all having techno problems.

Karen, What a good looking crew!

No Personal Training today. My daughter-in-law had an appointment of her own. I did one of Jane Fonda's and one of Coach Nicole's strength training DVDs instead...got in a full hour that way.

Patti

Talk about fixing things...my loom broke and I had to problem solve on that one. Now it's working better than it did before. I wondered why one side looked different than the other.

Oops, I thought I had been in here this morning! We had rain during the night and early morning and the air was so nice and cool. But when it stopped and the sun came out it was back to HOT again.

No Karen, fans just donít seem to do it, certainly not like a/c! Lovely photo of your family, Iím glad you figured out how to download pictures to Spark!

Gorgeous flowers Patti, how sweet of your grandson! But oh how terrible that your daughter accidentally deleted some of your pictures! She must feel so bad about that!

Youíve got crowing rights today Mel, lol. Good for you getting your pictures transferred to your laptop. Thatís how I do things on my computer, by fiddling and struggling!

When my neighbour in next apt learned that Iím getting a puppy she right away offered to be my Ďdog walkerí! Sheís much younger than me and a daily walker so I thought that was nice of her and might take her up on the offer later on as Buddy gets bigger.

No news from here except the usual ďI AM HOT!Ē

I read with interest your playing around with computers & pictures. I am glad I finally learned how to download pictures to Spark. Here is one of my kids. They braved the heat to go to a county music concert. I stayed cool but happy they enjoyed it.

Good morning, Everyone, I still have some computer problems but nothing that really effects my getting on the internet. So, I'm back to visiting the site every day - until the next time. My desktop is at the Dell repair place and I hope to have it back sometime this week. That will make it easier on my back, I tend to hunch over the laptop. On the whole, I feel great today.

Now I will have to concentrate on who is who here, and get to know you all better.

Kayne

Patti, Yikes! I'd want to crawl into a hole if I deleted somebody's pics! Hope they weren't very important ones. The bouquet is very pretty. Nice grandson!

Just popped back by here to crow a little bit because I fiddled and struggled until I finally got my pics transferred to my laptop. Big relief. Got quite discouraged for a while before the breakthrough. Funny how down on myself I can get. It did take me a loooooooonnnng time!

Nite all,
Mel

You gals are all so busy! Today I had a quiet one...no visitors except my oldest daughter and her husband. She had moved my pictures in my camera from the Gallery to the Storage card, so I asked her to do it with the last ones I'd taken. She was so apologetic when she deleted them instead!

However, my son-in-law said, "Patti, did your camera come with a detachable plug with a USB inside?" I looked, and YES, it did. We downloaded all the pictures (except the ones my daughter accidentally deleted, of course), and along with those came a whole bunch of weird images. Had to delete those. So, Mel, maybe that's what you have to do....

My grandson who lives with us brought me the most beautiful bouquet, Funny, since I was blogging about flowers. Anyway, I was delighted and it sparked my day.

I am happy to have my window AC. It is not an expensive one & has been working for about 4 or 5 years. I sleep on the couch when it is really hot & fans are not enough in my bedroom. You know where I have been sleeping for the last few weeks! Last month my utility bill was about 30 or 40 dollars higher so I am happy to pay that to stay cool. I am sure it will be higher this month. Oh well! It is GE & I got it at wal-mart.

Mel, I love the idea of your cranberry juice that you make and next time I'm near a store I'm going to get me some of the concentrate, is it frozen?? I love cranberries and cranberry juice and making it like this sure sounds healthy!
Becky and I both stood outside her car and we're both "talkers", lol, so it was easy to find things to talk about. I think I've made a new friend. I'm relaxing tonight, bought a watermelon while out and have it cooling in the fridge. Looking forward to having a big slice while sitting in my recliner.
Lol, we could be twins, I think I would have passed that movie too!

I downloaded Picassa and put my camera card in my computer and click on the Picassa sight. Then I download it all. Don't know if this is any help to you Mel.

Hi everyone who is reading our posts! I went out for supper with my sister and her husband, then he took us for a nice drive. 3 geese were waddling across the road so we had to wait for them to cross and they'd look at us, stop, move on slowly, lol. Stopped in place where I got my little watermelon, came into my apt building and it was like walking into an oven! I'm going to have to look into a window A/C. Will wait for my son's wife to come home from the lake so she can take me to look at the proper kind.

That's about it for tonight, will flake out in recliner, have some melon later, then sit on balcony if it cools down any outside!

Sleep well everyone.

Good afternoon all. Resting after our doggie walk. We took them both to the cemetery to walk this afternoon and had the 8 year old dgs along also. He chatters a lot about zombies and is a high energy little boy. I'm relaxing now with my quart jar filled with water and "Just Cranberry" a no sugar added concentrate I use a lot. I really appreciate the no sugar part. I just add about a quarter cup to the whole quart of water and chill it in the refrigerator or add ice and stick a sprig of mint in the top.

Marsha, I do hope yr church doesn't get demolished, for your sake. It seems that so many churches all across the U.S. are having trouble staying open for their congregations. Is the nation becoming more secular all the time? That's what I've heard. The times they are a-changing, as Bob Dylan sang.

Gloria, yes we are very fortunate living so close to the ocean and beach here. And no smog where we are. What a wild morning and day you had! No time to hang out with a book in the recliner today! What on earth did you find to talk about so long hanging in Becky's car window anyway? lol She sounds like a nice woman, and what a great birthday present to yourself little Buddy will be!

I wound up passing on the outing to the movie. DH went and I opted to stay home with Rokki. It was a long movie-- two hours or so. I decided not to leave her in the car that long. I really wasn't that into the Star Trek movie anyway. I like being left behind in peace and quiet.

I need to get help with my computer. I've not been able to download the free software that enables me to transfer my pics from camera to computer. I get some kind of drop down message that my browser or my computer is incapable but it is a pretty new MacBookPro and I can't imagine it not being up to date enough. I need to take it to the local computer guy who works with Macs. Everything takes time and patience, not to mention money. But can't show any of my pics of Rokki or anything else til I get this done.

Tra la til next time, Classy 70s pals, ...Mel

Good afternoon everyone!

Patti, I rarely wear my sunglasses and never wear a hat. Have tried them on and look silly, lol.

How was the latest Star Trek movie Mel? Everyone like it? Ohh, when you tell me about having coffee overlooking the surf, I almost see green, lol. Shouldn't feel envy but I think you're living in the ideal place! Water so close, walks by the water, coffee near the water, I love being close by water, it's so peaceful and calming.

Marsha, I know your soup would be a hit at the church today and I hope your church doesn't ever get demolished, you love it so!

I slept in till 10! It's the heat making me so lethargic. Then got a message at 10:30 from the lady I'm buying my puppy from. She was coming over to get the deposit and bring me receipt - - in half an hour! Well, I wasn't showered or dressed, had not had breakfast or even a coffee but I washed and dressed and went down to the front door of my apt building to meet her. She came with her 3 children and I had her park her car in the shade. Children sat in it, with a/c on while her and I stood outside it to talk - - till after 12! Oh my!

Had to hurry back upstairs to my apt (good thing the elevators are fast, lol), just in time to grab a call from my sister! She said her and hubby were picking me up at 3 to go out for early supper! I told her I will forego my shower but have to have a coffee and a bite to eat right then! Oh what an upside down rushed morning!

Coffee tasted extra good, had a toasted mato/mayo sandwich and then a good wash and dressed. Will have a cool shower before bed tonight.

Becky (lady who has the puppies) said I may get mine by my birthday, August 5th! What a fantastic birthday gift he would be!

See you all later? Love sharing our days here.

Thanks Mel and have a great time at the party tonight. So nice when friends and family get together. So much to talk about.

Yes, I love our little church, and just pray that we all can stay together after the sale of the church. I just pray that they don't demolish it. It would break my heart as it has been since since the 70's, and was old when moved to that property.

Have to get off here and finish getting ready.
Judy took the soup for me to church as it is so heavy. I have to go and help set up the tables with the necessary, bowls, napkins, cookies, cakes, etc.

Marsha, I enjoy hearing about the various things you do at your church. Such a nice involvement.

Patti, good that yr dear husband comes and watches t.v. every night, even as sick as he is. You do seem to get quite a lot of company also as well as getting out. So important, as Marsha said.

Gloria, I've never read Mary Higgins Clark, but I know she is very well liked.

DH and I had our coffee-in-the-jeep at MacKerricher Park overlooking the surf this morning with the two 4-leggeds. We are hosting a bunch of family at the latest Star-Trek movie this evening at 6:30. Prolly ten or so of us will show up for that, age 8 to age 83! Got my doggie walk done but not a lot else.

More tomorrow, Mel

Love the poodles, Gloria! With no nurses or bath aides, it's very quiet today Ed is sleeping, and I took a break from the warping. This one seems to be going easier. I say "seems" since I'm not done yet. It's amazing how those strings wrap around each other, and you can't have ANY crossed.

The dogs reminded me....Do you all wear sunglasses and hats when you walk? I don't. I hate the feel of a hat, and only wear one when I go to Red Hat meetings. Even there I often just put a red something in my hair instead of a hat.

The gal I'm walking with on Mondays always gets out her sunglasses and hat when we get ready to walk. I know all the warnings about skin cancer, but it's still hard for me to change.

emoticon Hi ladies! Late getting here today.

Mel, just come in whenever and however you can. I read mostly fiction, mystery books. I like to get out of the real world when I read, LOL. Reading an old one by Mary Higgins Clark called ďWhere Are You Now?Ē Hope you and Rokki are enjoying those lovely walks by the water.

Oh, oh, hope you donít get any storms Marsha, they would be bad ones in the summer! Soup sounds good, maybe Iíll make some yet today!

Patti, your hubby sure does sound like a good one. And itís so nice that you know the volunteer who will be coming to stay with him while you go to Zumba. That makes it so much better for the both of you.
Zooming into the weekend, I like that! Enjoy the friends who come today.

Everyone, STAY COOL!

Good Saturday morning to all. Hope everyone is staying coo. Going to be another hot day here, and probably more storms.

Patty your Zumba sounds great, and I am so glad that you are able to get out, and shake some of the stress out of your body. Good for you for taking the time to do this. It is so impHaortant.

Have to make soup this morning to take for coffee hour after church tomorrow. I will have Judy take over for me as it will be very heavy as it is in a large pan.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday. BBL

Hello, you lovely ladies!

I got to ZUMBA. This is Zumba Gold, which isn't as fast or high impact as the regular. I'm so happy that I'll be going every week from now on. We have a young, vibrant teacher who is trying for a free trip to a Zumba cruise to the Carribean. I hope she makes it and will pass the word for her.

I know this Hospice Volunteer that comes while I go to Zumba. It's been about 10 years since I met her and our paths don't cross. It was great to see her again and visit. I know she is reliable, and I can count on her.

So, Mel your time zone and mine are the same. Don't know about yours, Gloria. Spark said you posted at 6:45 when you said it was 9:45. Does that mean you are on the west coast, too?

Zooming on into the weekend. I've got two friends who have said they will come to visit. That will help break up the craft time. I should still get a good start on the warping of this beautiful turquoise scarf vision I have in mind.

About time for hubby to come in, so I'd better sign off. As sick and tired as he is, he still comes into the bedroom every evening to spend time with me watching TV. He's a good one, and I'm lucky to have him.

Mel, I know the feeling, and I too need to change when I post. The computer time is getting longer and longer and my work is not getting done as I am not as fast as I used to be. :(

Just post when you can, and we all understand.

Patti it is 7:55 A.M. here as I start this post. I live as far west as it is possible to live. On the "Western Edge," just back from the beach and the surf in Cleone, CA, a little area north of Fort Bragg, CA which is on the North Coast in Mendocino County. I can hear the waves rolling in as I go to sleep at night.

Gloria, Thanks for reminding me about yr physiotherapy. I'll be thinking of you cool as a cucumber on yr recliner today. You'll have to tell us what you are reading.

Good ladies of the Classy 70s thread, I must make some effort to change my posting schedule from morning to later in the day. When I get on to SP starting in the morning I tend to get hung up here and my productivity quotient goes kaput! So look for me to slide by here after my day is more or less over. It'll be an experiment.

Waving to all,
Mel

emoticon Good morning!

Kayne, thatís good news about your hips. And after a busy day, a quiet one is needed. How were the steaks, you made my mouth water, lol.

Mel, I have been going to a personal physiotherapist, recommended by back surgeon, and the exercises he has me doing have really helped me. I could hardly use my one leg for the pain Ė for two years Ė so you can imagine the shape that leg muscles were in! Now that leg is getting stronger and Iíve been walking outdoors, going to grocery store using my walker, etc., since Spring! Love being independent! Grocers is actually only about 4 long blocks, total, but when you have difficulties walking or pain, that may as well be 4 miles! And Mel, Iíve no idea how I manage to be first in here in the morning, just luck I guess, LOL.

Hope your back feels some better today Marsha, is it the heat making it feel worse do you suppose? Have a visit with George when he comes to mow today.

Patti, right now it is 9:45 a.m when Iím writing this, so disregard what it says under my profile. How does that figure out with your time? So good that you got out yesterday and yes, stress definitely will hinder your memory at times, usually at the worst of times like at the bank machine! How great that you go for Zumba. A friend of mine teaches that and also fitness, it looks like a lot of fun.

Well, this will be our hottest day of the year, 95 degrees that with humidity will feel like 110 degrees! Now thatís hot! Iíve got daily chores mostly finished so after I tend to my two canaries, I plan to sit in my recliner for the day, reading & watching TV, with a fan blowing over my chair.

Keep cool!

I wonder if I'm the furthest west. We're 3 hours earlier than the East coast. On election day, they announce the winner before our polls close.

Today was a slooooooooooooooooow day. Maybe all that excitement yesterday and getting the certificate set me up for a downer. My daughter came to watch a movie with Ed, so I was able to go grocery shopping. We needed milk and bread. I went to the bank first to get some cash for me and some for my daughter (so she has gas come to see us next week). Well, I got to the ATM and for the life of me, I couldn't remember my pin. I went in the bank and got the cash from the teller, told him my dilemma, and he was able to help me change the pin to something I will remember. Guess the stress is there in the background.

Then I went on to the store. The first one had a good price for milk, but everything else I looked at seemed high. So, I decided to go to another store. Put the milk back in the cooler. Got the bread at the $$ store, but of course they didn't have milk.

Went on to the next store and found good prices. I was so proud of myself.

You guessed it, no milk! I guess I'll run by the store after Zumba tomorrow.

Your supper sounds delicious, I was raised on succatash, haven't made it in a long time. When I cooked Thanksgiving I always had it, then my Granddaughter took over and she makes the best Green Beans, so succatash went by the road. :) I will have to make some. I used the large lima beans.

Back been bothering me today, so haven't done much. I took a little nap, and kinda babying the back.

Geo. Jr will be here tomorrow to mow and edge and cut a hedge back in front of the house. He will come early before it gets so hot.

Hope everyone has a good evening. Not sure what I am having for supper. Might be a salad and frozen entree.

Gloria, how do you manage to always be the first to post? What in the world is your time diff. from mine i wonder? Glad you beat the heat on your walk. How far a walk is it to the market? So nice that you are able to walk more now, but I have forgotten what you mentioned helped your legs so much.
Hunker down in front of those fans today!

Kayle, Great about the hip replacement perfect report! You deserved a pizza celebration! And your supper was more than reasonable to make up for it. Have a good time at your dsils tonight.

Marsha, Yes, moderation in all things is a good a wise philosophy. I hope for your sake no storms coming. The heat is hard enough.

Sunny here. Great grand will finish her mother's laundry today and I'll take her with all the clean clothes back home. She stayed the night again so I baked chicken and made succotash and kale and yams for supper and got her some Pistachio ice cream. Had a quarter cup of that myself and then backed off, thank goodness.

Cross training on indoor bike today, but still must walk with Rokki or she will go nuts. No jogging today for me though. And must do a few chores and supper.

Patti, congratulations on being selected for Volunteer of the quarter. I am sure that you well deserve it. A little something to show how much people appreciate what you do.

I would have done the same thing with those little candy bars. I love them, but never buy them because I would not stay out of the candy dish. :)

Have a good day, and maybe that is why I am so sleepy because I had a muffin for breakfast. Can't hardly keep my eyes open.

Kayne, sounds like you are on the right track. I don't believe denying us anything, just everything in moderation. I am trying to eat half the portions that I normally eat.

It is really hot here and suppose to get hotter. Probably have more rain this afternoon, just praying no storms. Have a great day.

Had a really busy day yesterday, but it was wonderful. Received a perfect report on both hip replacements (last year), went to Wal-Mart for a lot of shopping, and to the grocery store, some but not as much as W. Had a wonderful lunch, but even though I am so early in my weight loss plan, I only get to Pizza Hut only about 1x per year, I didn't even try to hold back. I had a good dinner at home though. Just one cheese breadstick from Pizza, and grapes and cherries. No snacking last night at all, and oddly no craving for a cigarette. I had no weight gain from yesterday this morning, so maybe it will be alright. Quiet day today, although I do have to plant three new Hostas I got yesterday, and tonight steaks on the grill at my sister-in-law's place. But she is very health conscious, so I know I will be able to keep it in check.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning everyone! Nothing much going on here except to say it is a HOT day again and going to have this heat wave for a few days.

My adventure today? I needed a few groceries and I walk to my store. Didn't know when they open but wanted to beat the heat so I left here just after 9 (found out they open at 8), did my shopping, came out and oh was it hot already! You can imagine my speed because I was back home before 10, lol.

Lots of salad fixings and dairy products + bread. I'm all set for a while again. I am a very independent person but sometimes have to rely on others. For instance, I don't drive - and those of you who do, you know how important that is. I am pretty well housebound but go out every Saturday with my sister and her husband, sometimes to browse a store or two but always out for supper! I look forward to that.

I also have a lovely niece who lives out of town, in the country and she comes about twice a month for us to spend an entire day together! Boy do we hit the stores that day, LOL. I really stock up on what I need and we have lunch out too. I love those days with her!

Nothing doing today but try to keep cool. Fans are all on high, just going to make a nice big salad for my lunch and water!

Come on in and share your day with us!

Really busy, exhausting day today. First waiting around to get Food Bank goodies for my daughter who uses a wheelchair. I did get a good walk in then, though, so the exercise bit was taken care of. Then waiting for lunch so I could be honored as "Volunteer of the Quarter." Official photos and all. So many nice things said about me.

I have to admit there was a candy bowl on my table and I did have several pieces of mini-bars. Then I moved the bowl to another table.

When I got home, I felt all that sugar. Had to lay down I was SO bummed. Then the company started. Friends from out of town, even the Mormon elders who heard my husband was in hospice from the neighbors.

Such a good day....such a tiring day. Goodnight.

Mel, just had to reply to you. My Buddy will maybe have long legs too but small body, like your Rokki. Yes, my son and his wife are not really 'pet' people and told me not to get another dog. "Told me!" Hrrumph! I seldom go out, with the exception of going out for supper on Saturdays. The dog can't come, of course. The only other place I go is running around doing my shopping for groceries, coffee store, bank, etc., and lunch. He won't go then either it's way too hot here for him to be left in a car! But visit people in their homes?? Never happens! So where the devil do I go that he will tie me down, eh? I know they'll worry that he might outlive me and he probably will, but I've got that covered too. I wouldn't just take him and not have a plan for that. I've covered all the bases. Long one, sorry. Yes, I really want this pup, I've always had a dog and small ones. Great companions and funny, as you mentioned. Mine would get me laughing so hard!

Okay, I'd beat again tonight. Got my hair cut short again this afternoon. I like it this short style in the summer heat. Going to turn up the heat tomorrow to in the 90's and for days like that! Who regulates the earth's temperature, anyway? Too hot, too hot.

Goodnight everyone, I wish each of you sweet dreams. I'll be back in the morning.

Yes, Gloria, Rokki loves to walk and run and can run fast. She's ten pounds but with long legs.
The running is the Terrier in her I guess. She is hilarious and we laugh a lot because of her.

I wondered how long you would take to get a doggie. I recall one of your daughters asking you to not get another dog because it would tie you down too much. But I take the Rokk just about everywhere. She has learned she must wait in the car for me at markets, stores, librairies and such. I'm so in favor of your having a little buddy!

Marsha, that made me a little sad about you not doing anything out side anymore where you and DH used to practically live. I dread the very real possibility that my dh might "beat me back to the barn" as they say. Have lost a grandchild and a son already and losing my lifetime mate is too much to add to it. We handle things as they come though. I know that.

Night everyone, and sweet dreams,

Mel

Mel, that is why I keep the sliding door shut, no use letting the AC go out there, since DH passed away I don't set out there anymore. We used to live out there.

Put on a big pot of fresh veggies, and cut up half of a watermelon the a friend of Judy's gave her. I called my neighbor to see if she and her daughter could use the other half. I left a message on her voice mail.

Marsha, sorry Sparks is giving you problems again this morning! Hurry back to us!

Mel, the trembling or shivering is definitely a Chihuahua trait. Mine did that when excited or upset or chilly. They are a bit delicate like that. I'll go to your page and have another look at your Rokki, I remember she is a small dog. It's great that she likes to walk so much with you Mel, mine would walk just so far and demand to be picked up, lol. Good thing mine were small cause I'd end up carrying them through 3/4's of our walks!

Patti, Thanks for posting the photo of your project. Looks like you're going to town now. Or is this a different project?

Joyce, I know that feeling of being on a deadline with a handmade gift. Hope you can get it finished on time and would love to see a picture.

Marsha, Oh, it does sound hot in that sunroom of yours. I'm drowsy too. Woke at 4:23 this morning and never fell back to sleep. Boo

Gloria, I was reading about Chihuahuas once on line as I think my Rokki may have Fox Terrier and Chihuahua. Or people say she looks like that. She does this trembling thing when excited which seems to be a Chi trait. I guess you would know about that. She's definitely a Terrier mix of some kind.

Waving to Karen.

A great grand spent the night and is to do her mum's laundry at our house today, then I'll drive it and her home. It's good that she doesn't seem to mind. She can putter around doing her nails and various things while the loads are going.

It is gray again today but I must get out there and do my walk-jog for at least 30 minutes. Then a shower and shampoo and figure out supper and a few chores.

Onward,

Mel

Oh my, such lovely posts to read!

Iíve got most of my daily chores finished, so Iíve some time on my hands just now. I used to knit and do cross stitch pieces but I donít have the same strength in my hands anymore so itís reading, TV and now .... my little pup. Yes, his name will be ďBuddyĒ, I love that heíll be My Best Bud!

Mel, my little Chihuahua Snooks that I left with my husband was only 3 Ĺ lbs and she was 8 years old! Long body and legs but tiny body. There are different types of Chihuahuas, did you know that?

GrandmaHP, I love crochet things, they look so delicate! How lovely that you make them for family, Iíd sure like to see photos too.

Patti, I admire the fact that you can do such beautiful work too. When I say Iím not Ďcraftyí I mean I just cannot catch onto things so I donít tackle them. But I do love to hear about what you and others do and like to see photos also. Keep on keeping on!

Did you get to the dollar store yesterday Marsha? What did you buy? We both have birthdays coming up in August .... mine is on the 5th, what is your date?

Well, back to the old grind, lol. Iíve got just a bit more to do then my hairdresser is coming at 3 to wash and cut my hair. And it will be SHORT! I donít like hair around my neck and short is easier to take care of also.

Enjoy your Wednesday ladies, keep it happy and healthy!
