Good evening Ladies. I awoke this morning with a sore back so I held off on doing PT today. I did go to the shooting range this morning and met 3 new people. Two were women, both younger than me, and much better shots. I've been in this club for a year and everyone I have met is really nice. I go on Wednesdays to shoot alongside a fellow who was widowed a couple of years ago. Harry always seems happy to see me and I enjoy his company. The rest of the day I spent resting or icing my back. It's feeling better tonight.

Mani, I flew in the Bermuda Triangle a lot. In 1967, as we were returning from a mission over the ocean, we encountered my one and only UFO. We had 12 crewmembers on board and we all saw the same thing and experienced the same interference with our electronics. It really spooked us all. I hope you got some sleep.

Sunshine, I was deployed to Bermuda during winter in the late 70s. The Island got hit by a storm and the wind was so bad the airport was closed. We had to divert to Virginia Beach Virginia that night. I remember it well because Virginia Beach was having a record breaking cold snap and my crew was dressed for Bermuda. Brrrrrrr.

Jen, reading your list of places was cool. I'll be interesting to hear your memories of Iceland. I spent most of my time there on the air station so I would like to hear about what I missed.

Have a great day everyone.

I have travelled and found some exciting places overseas, but some of my favourite sacred places are just in the everyday places.
I love my messy studio where i can make a mess and close the door on it all. I love the cafe up the road that lights a fire in winter, these days I really miss having a fire. When i was little and went to my grandparents; house, pop would light the fire and I could see wondrous worlds in the flames.
Mani, we do not need to travel. Look into the clouds and see the worlds unfold, watch the waves and be mesmerised by the depths of the sea.
watch the children and remember those fun times, look at the birds and even the tiny insects around us. Wonder is everywhere.

I just had to come over here and see where y'all have visited in your lifetimes---not as many posts as I was hoping to see. I will be back when I have more time to write, but for starters I'll just say I've been to some very interesting places like Iceland, Barcelona, Israel, Great Smokey Mtns--equal in interest to foreign places, Florida's Everglades, Niagara Falls--a Great Wonder of the World--at least to me, I marvel at many places God created in this beautiful earth that we take for granted.

Then there are places I HAVE NEVER SEEN and would just love to see--the Western USA--and its vast mountain ranges and deserts, Alaska's baren icelands, South Sea Islands mountainous terrain, ---Oh so many beautiful spots, not enough time to see them all--or $.

So, I'll be content to see them on TV via Nat Geo channel--

But, I'll be back to talk about the Cistine Chapel, Israel's wonderful landscapes, Icelands gorgeous cragey gorges.....

Sunshine scary hearing about the narrow escape you had.....
Hmmm talking about Bermuda & Lew you being in the Navy have you had any experience with the Bermuda triangle....read so much about the mysterious place....also one of my favourite mystery writers Agatha Christie had a novel based on it 'The Bermuda Triangle'
Talking about hurricanes I have a great-niece who lives in the Carribeans, in an island called St. Marteen and she has incredible hurricane stories to tell us.... About sleeping hiding under 3 mattresses in the basement of their home for almost 30 hours and all such harrowing stories...

Well I love the hustle bustle of the city life and believe I aged more in the last 5 years ever since I cut down on my travel than I actually aged in the last 50 years.... but guess we all need to slow down with time and accept the law of nature.

DH has had a couple of bad nights because of his cough and I had been up with him...& then caught up on my sleep during the day and now it is almost 10:30 and I can't fall asleep....but DH is fast asleep and snoring away.

Well let me go try catching up with him in dreamland....

Hugs & Prayers to all

We went through 2 major hurricanes while on Bermuda. We lived in an upstairs apartment and fortunately our downstairs neighbors asked us to spend the night with them (daddy was on a flight). That night the plaster 5 inches thick fell in the middle of my bed. I would have been killed! The houses back then were plaster ceiled and roofed. We watched the palm trees bend over and touch the ground as well.

Good evening Ladies. I started the morning by taking my pickup to Pep Boys to get an oil change and my tires rotated. It took longer than I expected because the lug nuts are starting to corrode. Andy told me to pick up some at an auto parts store and they would put them on the next time I'm in. He said if he orders them the price is way too much. Service like that is why I keep going back. I've been doing my physical therapy exercises on and off all day. I did some while I was waiting for my truck. I have discovered how out of shape my legs are and I'm working them every day. I think I've reached to point where I can push a little harder and see if it helps. I'm enjoying the different perspectives people have of places.

Sunshine, When I was flying out of Brunswick Maine we deployed to Bermuda for 3 months and flew out of there. Bermuda is cool but Island living is definitely different. I took home a small bottle of the pink sand to show Sara and the kids.

Jo, I have good and bad memories of trips to New York City. It's just too busy and too crowded for this "dumb ole country boy". I found the same thing in Seoul, Korea and London. That said, I'm glad I got the opportunity to visit all of them. Now, on the insurance thing. My insurance company lets us get the estimate from a reputable repair shop and they pay the shop directly. I suspect that with State Farm the estimate they gave you on repairs is what they will pay. If it's not enough then I suspect that the only way you can change that is with a lawyer. I'm not an insurance expert but that's how I understand it. I'll see if I can send you some of our weather but don't count on it. emoticon

Marsha, I'm not surprised that your car was totaled. Bodywork is very expensive and a big tree does a ton of damage. The places you like can be in the U.S. so don't worry about not having been overseas. Enjoy your Grandson's wedding. We enjoyed Zach's but it was certainly tiring.

Mani, I have never been to India. The closest was Thailand and that was during the Vietnam War. One thing I always paid attention to was the foods in different countries. I always ate the food and usually liked what I ate. Our kids were raised eating foods from many different countries. I got my taste for Indian food in London. I thought Mexican food was hot until I had some authentic Indian Curry. WOW!!! I really like Curry dishes.

Have a great day everyone.

back again -

Mani - my DH travelled many areas of the US. however never much above Rte 66 - never cared for the northern part of US - too c0ld for me,

we did get detoured in AZ - a mtn town lost the copper fields and the town people who decided to stay their and make a tourist area of the city. interesting as all the houses were off the mtn and poles holding them up - you had to cross over to each house via a little bridge effect (to each house) this bridge was over nothing but space. needless to say I did not visit any of these homes open to tourist. stayed on the road and checked out the stores. coming back - remember we were coming around a mtn. - very dangerous driving. fortunately my DH knew how to drive them as he had driven in San Francisco so we made it down OK. he was congratualated by the owner of a garage as he indicated a wall that all drivers smashed into.

never interested in visiting England. after all the stories from our Vets there and people I knew who visited there - the dampness was too much - my DB in the air force there was always asking for cans of soup. he even ended up in the hospital there for pneumi heard that when he returned.

almost forgot - FINALLY heard from the insurance co. the guy who hit me. had trouble reaching her by phone so finally called again and gave her info - she should call soon.

Lew - since I had collision insurance on my car and State Farm determined cost of repairs -

DOES THIS AFFect what they are liable for?

watched the EMMY awards last nite. very disappointing - had more advertising and only about 8 of the EMMY awards. channel 6 has terrible coverage-

getting late - almost time for dinner. - don't know what to have anyway - had hoped Sept. would bring better weather but doesn't sound like it. guess I better comple my yearly medical tests. need to get blood work done - will make an apptmt for early nxt week - usually go about 9 AM however even that early temp close to 90.

happy to read that Irene seems to be doing well - hope she will be home soon.

keep well everyone - keep cool. our snowbirds in NY don't seem to be getting any better weather than us. their temps very close to ours.

best to all - keep well and cool.

JO

read all the posts and while I agree with many of the areas mentioned, also visited many of them, I still think NYC - is the best. you can experience just about everything in other parts of the country. guess it is due to many people from all over living there. you can go just anywhere and experience life in other counties. guess everyone brought much from their countries.

I lived in many small towns but felt too confined - always had to travel to othr towns for many items. even here in FL I still have to go to other towns for many items - in NYC everything was available. remember when I lived in NJ - had to visit my GF in Brooklyn to buy certain nities.

Sharon - I loved San Antonio also - had made plans to move there but it wasn't to be - end with an op here.

Lew - wish you could sen us some of your weather - no one ventures outside at any time. even the stores empty. have to go to Target tomorrow - wait until almost 1PM and stretch shopping and stop for coffee and then leave around 4PM. car reaches over 105 -

Marsha - surprised you had a Tornado - we don't get any here - at least with hurricanes we get warning so can prepare - I usually move my car to another areain our parking section. since snowbirds are gone we can move to a safer spot. keep away from the trees . but happy you were fine.

Lew and Sara - Congrats - don't think I ever knew anyone with great grands.

better start a new post.

When I was very young my dad was in the Air Force and we were stationed in Bermuda. I have fond memories of Bermuda and hope one day to go back and see how it is now. I also love Mobile, AL where I spent most of my childhood.

Thanks to those who have shared your favorite places. Sharon, Sara and I drove from Albuquerque to San Antonio to spend our 30th anniversary there. It's a great town. I've never been to your favorite small towns but have been near them on our travels. Mostly travel related to moves. Sara and I have moved 21 times since we were married. The Navy moved us a lot in our 25 year career. Mani, I've been to London 3 or 4 times and found it very interesting but it just felt too crowded for me to want to live there.

I've been thinking about this and on this post I'll start with the place that brings the most nostalgia with it - Dixon, Missouri - population 600. I was born there and my Grandfather had a farm several miles outside of town. Growing up I would spend a week on the farm and then spend a week on his brother's farm about 30 miles away. I loved the hills, the woods where I hunted, the barn, and Grandpa's fields of corn. At Uncle Nig's farm the fishing was great and the hills even steeper than at Grandpas. I got to spend time with my great grandfather. Grandpa Boney loved to fish but was too frail to climb the hills so we stuck with fishing the creek and the slough near the creek. Listening to his tales of Jesse James and the post Civil War era was spellbinding. I loved climbing the hills and exploring every inch of the farms. I went back to Dixon several years ago and it had changed some but still looked familiar. Grandpa is long gone and his farm is very decayed.

My travels have been confined to the United States. Most of you will agree that it is the best nation in the world. Favorite large cities are San Antonio, Texas and Honolulu, Hawaii but I really prefer small towns. The small town I was born in is Davis, Oklahoma and when I went back a few years ago I thought it would be a great place to live. Other small towns I have thought I would like to live in are Kilmichael, Mississippi and White Springs, Florida. Are any of you familiar with my favorite small towns?

Well Lew taking you up on your topic of the best place I have visited, well to tell you frankly I am a city bred gal...can't imagine a farm life / country life.

The best place I have ever visited well has to be London, it was the first city I ever travelled to. I was. The first time I left my home town of Ernakulam was as a 16 year old when I visited Chennai to shop for my wedding in 1944. Then 4 years later was when I travelled to London, we had to travel throughout Bombay as that was the only port that had passenger ships leaving for London. So Bombay was the second city. then it was Aden which was the port of call when we were travelling but with 2 cranky kids and a sea-sick DMIL and being jittery about life in London....I didn't get to see too much. So London it is and will be as the best place I have visited in the world. Just love the hustle and bustle of the city....the old world and new world mix. I love walking by the Thames, love the shopping on Bond Street, love little India in South Hall and of course Wimbledon. Love the weather...oh the typical English weather, the sun playing hide and seek....love the stiff greeting without a smile by the butler when you walk into those restaurants. Well have been visiting London at least once every 2 years since we returned in 1956, but haven't gone back since 2011...as our health doesn't permit us such a long travel anymore. A close second would be Delhi and 3rd would be Dubai for me. Well I now doubt that I will ever be able to travel to any of these cities again in my lifetime as I don't thing I can handle a 3 hour long flight anymore.

Looking forward to reading about other stories.

Mani, good mornng to you, even though it is bedtime for me. You led a busy life. So great that family is close knit.

Lew, I forgot to congratulate you and Sara on being a Great Grandchild. My oldest (21) amd his finane' came to visit me yesterday afternoon. He is such a great young man, and they are getting married Nov. 1st in an outside Garden. I know it will be beautiful, and should be a little cooler than now. Today was really hot out, I couldn't stay out too long at a time.

Going to hit the sack. We never traveled outside of the United States.

Sweet dreams to all.

Good morning everyone.....

Lew congrats to you and Sara on adding another 'G' and this time "Great' to your title. Now here's another incentive to get the back fitter soon so that you can have your great grand child piggy back on great-grandpa Lew's back...God Bless your family.

Marsh your day sounded busy and prayers coming your way that you can have it all sorted out and done with.

Nemesas, the family history project sounds great.... my Daughter and my great-nephew have just finished writing a book with pictures more of a coffee tablet about my side of the family. On November 14th this year will be my eldest brothers 100th birth anniversary, so his grand son and my daughter worked on this project for almost 2 years and will be releasing this on the 14th of November. My Great Nephew has travelled extensively to meet the extended family and has interviewed cousins & aunts & uncles across and compiled the whole thing together. Also another discovery that we made in the process...a family stream we had lost touch with as they had moved away to Chennai, that was my Great Grand father's youngest brother....well he has a surviving Grand Son & Grand Daughter in law, well that makes it that I have an Uncle and Aunt...I understand that he is 97 and his wife is 95 effectively making them the oldest family members, but well we haven't been in touch with the family for a long time as my Grand dad had had a fall out with the Uncle in question.

Gloria, Jen, Nancy....hope all of you are doing well....

Lew have read your mail and will do another post on my favourite city in the world.

Hugs, Prayers & Blessings

Good evening to all. This has been one busy day. First the tree trimmers came this morning and got the big oak cut down. What a job? The the appraiser came to see the damages, and he totaled my car. I am just sick, like he said it is such a clean car for a 2006, no dents or marks except what the tree limbs did. Said no spots on the upholstering, tires good, but the car parts that they would have to order to repair it they don't have them but one. It is a Chev. Malibu Maxx LT. I love that car, only has 31,043 miles on it. I hate to think about looking for a used car as I won''t go in debt. I don't want all the bells and whisles, all I want is wheels. :)

So today has not been a good one. I have to get everything out of it before they come to tow it off. I got the Title laying on the table. The adjuster is supposed to call me tomorrow on the amount they will give me, so Geo. said to ask her if she can do a conference call. He knows more what they are worth. He checked with a very good friend that has a Dealership, and he told George that one that is in good condition, good tires, clean and low milage would go for around 8000. I doubt they will give me that.

So tomorrow will be another busy day. My nerves were shot today.

I think it is wonderful to be able to geneology. I have some papers that one of my relatives did on my side of the family, and we bought a book on the Bashline family that I gave to Geo. Jr.

Hope everyone has a good night's rest.

Mel, sounds like you are getting used to the therapy, and coming right along. Keep up the good work.

Good evening Ladies. I'll start with the big family news first. Sara and I will be Great Grandparents in about 7 months. My only married grand child, Zack, just called with the news. He told me they were calling his grandparents first and then everyone else. Sara and I are delighted. Now the mundane. I got in some yard work this morning and I had physical therapy this afternoon. The therapist worked me really hard. My legs are very tired from the workout but I know I'll be ready to work out again tomorrow. I have to take my pickup in for an oil change in the morning and then I'll try to get more done in the yard. The heat eased off today and the wind picked up so it was decent outside.

Nemesias, I find it interesting that you're writing your family history. Sara just started doing the same for our family. With all of the ancestry research she's done she has a lot of info. I still think her focus will be on the members of the family she knows or knew before they passed away. She said that she's writing it for the kids and grandkids.

Mani, your day yesterday sounds interesting but taxing. A good nap cures most ills. emoticon

Marsha, on the ch. 13 weather this morning they noted that the average high temperature has dropped one degree. It is now 91. I also noticed that the sunrise time is 25 minutes later than a month ago. Fall is coming but I don't think anytime soon. emoticon I hope everything is going well with your insurance claim.

Have a great day everyone.

Monday was our writer' group day and the we all went out for lunch to celebrate a birthday.
I have a problem in writing my family history. My Grandfather fought in the Boer War in South Africa. The facts are far and few between so i will have to use another author's work on the war. I will acknowledge his work in the key but I hate war.
I never watch war movies on TV , I skip all the war descriptions in stories so when it comes to writing about war, someone elses' words will have to do. The group decided that as long as I make a note of the author it should be OK.
It is pouring today. I just got my walk finished in time before down it came.
This will be my first day home all week and as it is a very wet one I am looking forward to taking it easy.

Mani, I would say you had a very busy day, but enjoyable. I went to church, the Geo. Jr. and Karen wanted to take me out to eat. I think I wrote this before.

Thanks for letting us know about Irene, I will go and read. That is one determined lady, her Faith has got her this far.

I am off to bed. Have a good day over there. :) Hugs and prayers.

Well yesterday was a busy day for mo & didn't get to post.

Went to church for an early service and we had a Brunch invite at my DD Sara's place. It was an advance celebration of our DSIL's 75th Birthday as they will not be here on the actual day, 5th September. Where does time fly, can't imagine our Son-in-law is 75...he & Sara have been married 52 years....God are we old or what.

DH & I got back home by 1:30, broke away early as the long morning was beginning to show on him and he needed his rest. Back at home both of us had a long afternoon nap and as the weather stayed good got a walk in the park and then my DGDIL Natasha drove me to visit with Mary. Happy to see she is doing much better, far more alert, but her DD tells me that she is still too weak to get out of bed so is still on a catheter.....

Lew good to know that your PT is doing fine. I know the heat can really zapp the energy out of us.

Marsha have a relaxed Sunday.

There is good news on Irene's front her friend Marcy has just posted to let us know that Irene is in great spirits, walking with the help of a walker and will be posting on Spark soon. She had forgotten her password...LoL...

Have a great week....

Hugs, Prayers & Blessings

Good evening Ladies. We've had a quiet day. I did my PT and some time on the treadmill. This afternoon we made a run to Bed Bath & Beyond but it was too hot to do anything outside so we stayed indoors. Tomorrow we are supposed to get a small drop in temperature but that will help some.

Have a great day everyone.

Mel, yes the BUCS won. \o/ We are on our way

Yes. I am like you, I would rather experience a Hurricane where we get days notice to prepare, but with tornadoes there is no warning. They said 65 miles an hour winds came through here.
My Granddaughter took me this morning to pick up a rental car. I will go to church in the morning and give thanks for sparing Ginger and me. I will have a praise report for sure.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend so far. I am tired tonight and going to go in and watch some TV in bed. Hugs and prayers to all.

Good afternoon Ladies. We just had a small thunderstorm pass through and it dropped the temperature by about ten degrees. This is how our summer weather pattern is supposed to work. I did a couple of things in the yard this morning and then got out of the heat. Heather dropped off Ethan and their dog Charlie and went to an appointment at the hairdresser. Ethan really likes coming out here because we spoil him. emoticon

Mani, you sure had a busy day. You're right about the sore muscles. I don't stop. I just switch to exercises that work the muscles more gently. Walking helps the muscle.

Marsha, I'm watching the Bucs and Bills as I type. The Bucs just scored the first touchdown of the game. The offense looked bad to start the game but got better. I do not like Tornados. I grew up in the Midwest and it seemed like every couple of years we would have one get too close for comfort. Since Sara and I got married we live mostly near the coastline and we've been through 6 Hurricanes. I'll take Hurricanes. With them you get some warning. Sorry to hear about your car but glad you and Ginger are OK.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Afternoon on a sunny & cloudy Saturday....

Well the sun seems to be playing hide and seek with us today. I have had an early day as I was in for my Chiropractic session at the hospital by 7:30 & back by 9:00. Then did my half hour of physio and break fast and then my hot oil massage and it is just past noon and am basking in the sun so that the skin absorbs the oil...& I get my vitamin D fix as well.

Well DD Sara visited Mary yesterday as I had my Bible Study class and reports that Mary was much more cheerful...and thank you for all the wonderful thoughts & prayers.

Jo you don't have to apologise for venting guess we are all at some point dealing with our frustrations and that's what friends are for.... emoticon emoticon emoticon

Haven't seen Gloria on the chat though she has been posting elsewhere regularly so I ono she is well...
Haven't any news for Irene neither on Marcy's page.

Mel, thank you once again my dear for all the concern.

Lew... you don't need me telling you this...but keep working those sore muscles don't stop because they are sore, slow down if you must but don't stop....and for sure you will be as good as new soon, young man.

Nemesias that art show sounds interesting and is surely keeping you busy and you said it...'a hung man is an angry man' your snack fix would have done them wonders. You really are taking good care of your pet....

Marsha so sorry to read about the havoc the storm has left behind. Praise the Lord that you & Ginger are safe and sound. Glad your GD will be there to drive you to the car rental place and your Sherriff has been of help. Stay safe and hope the damaged car gets re-imbused by insurance soon.

Have a lovely Saturday.... my nurse is here waiting to take me in for a shower, then lunch and a long afternoon siesta...as I am tired today so that I am fresh and ready for all my great-great-grands...

Hugs, Prayers & Blessings to all
Mani

Lew, no I don't think he does pressure washing. He does everything else for me that my Son can't do.
I am tired, had a tornado go through. Broke a large limb into the street, and 2 on top of my car. Shattered the back window and the frame. Geo. and Karen just left. I will post some pictures later. Thank goodness it didn't hit the house. Ginger and I wasn't hurt. I never saw rain and wind as bad as it was, and the siren sound, just like a freight train. All around us got it. Trees down everywhere. The county came out and cut the limbs that were in the street. Geo. Jr. called the Auto Insurance company and arranged for me to get a rental in the morning. My Granddaughter is coming to take me. The adjuster won't be here until Tues. Want to leave the 2 large branches on top of the car until they come. I called my HO's company and filled a claim, but I don't think it will cover anything as no damage to the house. They both were really helpful, and the county sheriff came and sat out front until the county got here to cut the limbs in the street. Very nice. I am blessed and God was watching out for Ginger and I.

I have a friend that 2 sons have a tree business and he gave me an estimate of $2000. to cut the tree down. It has some rotten wood in it. I want it down. I have another one in the back yard that is huge also. DH planted in 1960.

So I have had a busy day, and think I will sleep tonight.

Hugs and prayers to all.

Good evening Ladies. I have had a busy day. This morning I worked on our lawn sprinkler system. The problem proved to be more extensive than I originally thought but it's now working right. Heather was on a business trip to Boulder Colorado planning to arrive in Orlando at about 5 PM. She called at 11 to say her flight was delayed and she might ask us to meet Ethan when he got home from school. The flight ended up 2 hours late. I left my physical therapy session early and we headed for her house. We got there just in time so then I went to the boarding kennel to get Charlie, her dog. We took Ethan out for dinner and Heather showed up at 7 PM. We visited for awhile and came home. I'm just relaxing in the living room watching a football game.

Nemesias, setting up for the arts and craft show sounds a little trying. It always helps to have a lot of Indians and only a couple of Chiefs. Those dog biscuits sound great. You're not spoiling him are you? hehehe I'm like you, I prefer winter to summer.

Marsha, does the handyman do pressure washing? If you're sleeping good does that mean you're getting better.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning to all, today is a new day, and let's make the most of it.

I am not sure what first name you go by Nemesias76. Sounds like you were one busy lady. Our Ladies group if going to have a craft sale in Oct. I believe it is.

Hope everyone has a great day. I had a good night's sleep, and have the handyman coming this afternoon.

Our art and craft group are having a display and sale all this weekend and I have been down at the hal helping out. It is a revelation on people's characters when there are too many chiefs and not enough indians when it comes to helping out. I helped a lady move a table from one side of the hall and then we moved it back again.
I'm afraid I got the giggles with those losing it and those who spit their dummies so I left, went home for a while and came back with hot chips for the workers. people always get snarley when they are hungry or need a cuppa. The show opens tomorrow. There is some lovely craft work on exhibit. It will be a good time to buy some Christmas gifts.
There you are boiling hot and getting storms and down in Australia it is chilly and very dry. I prefer the winter to that summer heat. Take care those of you with summer chills.
I am baking biscuits for the old dog, he is eleven and has liver problems. The last lot of biscuits were a bit too heavy on the molasses but this lot have fresh herbs, grated carrot and celery, molasses garlic, a dash of apple cider vinegar, walnuts, coconut and sesame seeds and wheat germ and oat bran, egg and a handful of mince. they should be good for him, He would only eat the last batch if another dog looked interested in them. But the less he eats the better he will be for he needs to lose weight too, but how can i resist those puppy dog eyes,

Just stopping in to say good night. Going to miss my bed partner tonight (Spade). Geo. Jr. came and picked him up, and he was glad to see Daddy. :)

Hope everyone has a good night's rest. Supposed to be hot tomorrow, no rain today. It was hot out and saying tomorrow is going to be the same. I am ready for Spring. Doesn't seem that long that I was saying "I am ready for fall".

Good evening Ladies. We finally got a break in the heat. It's 8 PM and we're getting our first thunderstorm in a week. It's raining cats and dogs with constant thunder and lightning. I'm hoping this signals a change back to our summer weather pattern. I hope we get rain earlier tomorrow. We just stayed indoors this afternoon and didn't have to deal with the heat. My physical therapy is strengthening my core but yesterdays session worked my legs so much that my right leg was really sore today. I put a heating pad on it and that helped a lot. My thumb is healing great and never a hint of an infection.

I'm back. We had a power outage during the storm.

Mani, good to hear from you. Thanks for you quick response and you know we care about you. It's great top hear that Mary was doing better on your latest visit.

Marsha, you have the right idea about pressure washing the second floor. I don't know how the pros do it but using a pressure washer on a ladder is not recommended for exactly the reason you stated. The pressure can knock a person off balance when on a ladder. I hope you find someone.

Jo, it's a good thing that you car is drivable. Dealing with the aftermath of an accident is always a pain in the neck. I hope it gets worked out. We do keep Aloe in the medicine cabinet and it works fine on sunburn and other minor burns. Because the skin was burned off my thumb before I could get it under running water, 20 seconds, I figured I had better get the medical professionals to guide me. After they cleaned off the burned skin they applied Silvadene cream and bandaged the thumb.. They said it was the best thing for 2nd degree burns and it has worked wonders. I put it on twice a day. On your other point I did put a plate under the dish the second time I did mashed potatoes in the microwave and it worked great.

Have a good evening everyone.

Excuse my error, folks. I didn't intend to be an alarmist for no good reason. I read the status in a hurry and that's never a good idea.

Mani, I did enjoy your family photos. How wonderful to have that support system in your life. And I always enjoy it when I happen to wander through this forum and read your posts. Hope you keep it up.

Hi to everyone else as well. Blessed Be, Mel

Lew - wanted to make a few comments to your posts.

was hasurprised to hear about your burns. In case you are not familiar with ALOE VERA 100% gel - can be purchased anywhere - I bought my last tube at Target - it in the section with various skin creams. it is a moisturing therapy - I use it for anything and for example if I accidently touch a hot item on burner etc. I immediately put it on. it will prevent blistering etc. great for sunburn -dry-irritated skin. just about anything. it is not expensive under $5.

I advise this for everyone. I would not do w/o I.

also unless it is a dinner plate I always put the dish on another plate - learned that the hard way.
I want to go to Barnes & Noble - seems like that is the only place I can get a E-Reader that is not a Kindle. don't understand why Staples, Best Buy will only carry Kindles. have too much trouble with the one I purchased first. of course though the so called Easy Techs did not seem to know what to do. also, if you just ask a question they want to charge $30.

Staples use to be crowded with customers before but now with this change over, no one is buying anything in the line of electronics.

do you think I will ever clear up this accident problem? very discouraging - don't think I will even get cAR REPAIRED. IT RUNS WELL AND THE DAMAGE IS NOT VERY NOTICABLE. BESIDES GETTING OLDER- GUESS Irene AND I ARE THE OLDEST. sometimes I think I will be dead before this all clears up. very difficult being alone - strNGE I ALWAYS SAID 'I TOOK CARE OF EVERYONE BUT WONDER WHO WILL TAKE CARE OF ME' - I did so much for my so called niece thinking she would take care of me when needed but found out when the chips are down every disappears. think I made a big mistake moving to FL. - would not have this problem. the cold would have killed me.

sorry to be venting on you all. but with all I have been going thru sometimes it all gets to me.

better close - looks like I will have to charge PC. will definitely have to use PC more. when I don't for more than 3/4 days have to waste too much time signing.

hopeall are doing well weather wise. looks like many of us here as well as all over the country suffering with the weather. at least so far anyway we haven't had any floods. but understand we might have some hurricanes to contend to.

keep well everyone and cool if possible.

hope Irene is better. is she at home?

Gloria - hope all is well with you. I have been wondering about our Canadians - if they are having the sme weather problems as we have here as they are all in the Montreal area.

will definitely will check in more often. too much time wasted signing I if I don't.

keep well all

JO

Jo, good to hear from you, and yes it has been hot this year, maybe because I am getting older I notice it more. Sorry about the accident, and praying that you feel better soon. It is hard to get good help now-a-days. I have been wanting someone to pressure wash my second story, and no one wants to do it. My Son takes care of the bottom part, but I don't want him climbing on a ladder with that pressure of the water. He isn't getting any younger either, just turned 63.

I am looking forward to cooler weather. I love fall, and the colors, and I miss the changing of the leaves.

Have a great evening, and have a cup of tea for me. :)

well I read all and see most of us are suffering from this weather.

I am still feeling the affects of that car accident. only go out when I need something from the store. of course this heat is not helping. just going from apt. to car you need a shower.

my insurance took care of my accident immediately but today afer a month I received a letter from his ins. co. it is with Infinitry Indemnity, the co. with that female acting up in their TV advertising, I think the latest she is in a boat. I could have been dead by this time. of course though I think it is the ins. co. of the owner of the car. will cll tomorrow but if all the stupid errors in the letter they sent me is any indication I don't expect any results .

see that just about all are feeling this weather. doesn't look like we will get any changes soon. even the stores are empty as no one is going out.

since I am not feeling up to par glAD TO STAY HOME if I can only get someone to help. can't even get anyone to clean my aPT. BUT I DO WHAT I CAN.

WILL START ANOTHER to make sure SP doesn't disconnect me.

Hello everyone....

So sorry that I have not been posting here for a couple of days as I was a bit pre-occupied.

And I am touched by all the concern and good wishes you'll have shown for me and my cousin Mary. Guess there was a bit of a confusion which I replied to Mel & Lew. It is my cousin Mary who is unwell and down with severe UTI...she was in a bad shape yesterday, went to see her again today and she is much better. She even sat up in bed for half an hour while I was there...just that she is pretty weak and looks tired... but guess at 90 a bout of UTI with her temperature is bound to set you back. Nevertheless my dear cousin seems to be on the road to recovery.

So very thoughtful and sweet of you friends..... well it's almost 10 and way past my bedtime...
Have a lovely Thursday

Hugs, Prayers & Blessings to all

Hi Ladies. I read Mani's status post a little different than Mel did. Here's her status post - "GRANJERRY1 is feeling low after visiting my cousin Mary...she is just not looking good...prayers requested

I read that as Mani's cousin is not looking good. I'll check with Mani and let you know what I find out.

Have a good one.

Mel, thanks for letting us know about our Mani. I went to her page and read it. I will keep this sweet lady covered in prayers. Hope she gets to feeling better soon.

I wish that more people would post on this team. We have quite a few, but just don't get much conversations going.

Come on out there, we are enterested in all. Hope everyone has a great day.

Hello dear 70s folk, I hope you won't mind if I jump in here tonight at after eleven p.m. I mainly wanted to say that I saw on Mani's status page that she is ill and not looking good and I believe it is her family asking for prayers for her.

I did not see it mentioned here and thought you would want to know.

Take care, Mel

Lew, yes it was HOT here also today, didn't go out too much, just with the dogs. Sorry Sara fell, and glad that she didn't break anything. Also, that you don't have to go back to the doctor unless you have problems.

I am turning in shortly, Geo. Jr. will be here tomorrow to pick up Spade. Going to miss him. He don't leave me out of his sight. :)

Hope everyone has a great night's rest. Today I have felt better than I have in a couple weeks. Still tired, but I think that is the toll it takes on your system.

Hugs and prayers to all.

Good evening Ladies. Our heat index went over 100 again today. I had to go out in it this morning to fix our sprinkler system. I found three problems and fixed two. I'll do the third in the morning before it gets too hot. That one will require digging and then repairing a broken pipe which is why I'll do it when it's cooler. I had physical therapy this afternoon and this therapist really worked my legs hard. I was rubber legged when I left the place. Then, an hour later, I went to my doctor so he could check my thumb. The three blisters on the first joint never leaked and turned into scabs. He and the nurse had never seen that but he said it was looking great. He asked how painful it was and I tapped my thumb on the table to show him there is no pain. I have full feeling but no pain. He said he only needs to see me if something starts acting up. Good news. Sara took a fall last night but she's doing good today. She has a couple of bruises on her knees but no serious damage. Thank God.

Nancy, I was a General Motors guy until 1975 when Sara's station wagon gave us tons of problems. That was when they turned out too many lemons and we switched to Fords, and then Dodge, and now Sara has a Toyota. I drive a midsize Dodge pickup. I think GM has raised their quality level a lot in since 1990. You, Sara, and I are the same age and I'm sure I'm the only one that still likes to drive fast. emoticon If the Sonic gives you the mileage they advertise I think you'll be delighted. What color did you pick?

Marsha, Bronchitis really wears a person down. Taking it easy is the smart thing to do. With this heat we're having it's best to just stay in and take it easy.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning to all, sun is out and supposed to be a really hot day today. I am ready for fall.

Nancy, good luck on your new car, and I (or we) have had Chevrolets all of our life). dear late husband was a Chevy man, and also my Dad. We have always gotten good service from them. I have a 2006 (brought new), and only has 30,000 miles on it as the last years of DH's life we didn't travel much, and I sure don't. To church and store and back. :) I guess that is why people like to get an old person's car (low mileage).

Hope everyone has a great day. I am feeling better, just have to take it easy as don't have much pep yet. I appreciate all the wonderful Spark goodies and messages. They mean a lot.

Will be back later, have to get going, and have some breakfast.

Good morning, Spark Friends emoticon
Lew, I hope Sara is feeling better. It's strange but I can deal with -20 degrees Celsius much better than the extreme heat. I'm happy to hear your thumb is improving as well as your back.
Also Lew thank you for your thumbs up about the car. Most people say to me a Chevy "What". At 72 years I don't think I'll be breaking any speed limits any morel

Marsha I'm sorry you are still a little under the weather. I hope you are able to rest.

I pick up the car tomorrow. This dealership does the registration of the car as well as the license plates. I means I won't have to drive all around the city running to government offices.
My insurance has been paid and all I have to do is pick up the car tomorrow morning.

Have a happy day and Florida-ites keep cool.

Thanks Mani, I am feeling better, but just so tired. Don't feel like doing much. Have a good day and love and hugs heading your way.

Lew, glad you got to feeling better, and sorry Sara didn't feel too swift with the heat. I know the feeling, and really can't take it either. It was hot here today, and tomorrow is suppose to be 95. I am ready for Fall. :)

Hope everyone has a great night's rest. Still recuperating with the bronchitis, and just not up to par. I will be back on more later when I feel like sitting at the computer.

Hugs and prayers to all.

Good evening Ladies. This has been a day of rest. I awoke tired and not feeling good. After Sara got up I laid down for an hour and then we headed off to Daytona Beach just to break up our routine. We noticed a store near where we had lunch and Sara wanted to check it out. She found a couple of blouses and a handheld mirror that she needed. Then we strolled through a nearby Mall. Just walking into the mall through the 98 heat got to Sara and we had to stop several times so she could recover some. After we left we headed home and into the air conditioning. My thumb is looking good. Well, at least 2/3 of it is looking good. The blisters from the thumbnail to the first joint are now reddish brown scabs but there is no pain - just itching. I'm healing really well.

Nancy, Car and Driver magazine gave the Chevy Sonic a decent review and it looks like it has excellent gas mileage. Car and Driver gives better rating to cars that are zippy so others will probably rank it higher than they did. Good luck with your search.

Marsha, this is looking like a good week to stay indoors.

Have a great day everyone.

Good evening.
So happy to hear all of you are on the mend. Here we're dealing with "weather" too. Rainy and cool like autumn soon to come..
Well, I have lasted a month without a car, but tomorrow I am going to inquire about a Chevrolet Sonic. I like the GM dealership in Sherbrooke and I probably won't shop around too much. The GM dealership is offering quite a few specials on the 2014 cars.

Saturday I'm travelling to Montreal. My nephew-in-law is celebrating his fiftieth. It will be a Barbecue with friends and family. I will stay overnight at niece's home with her birthday husband. They have three children ages 18-23. I will be so much fun catching up. I think my nephew and his wife are coming with my great niece, Maggie who is just turning one.
It will be lots of fun. Oreo will enjoy his fiends at The Pet Connection while I'm away.
Sleep tight everyone.

Good afternoon Ladies. This morning I did all of my PT exercises at home and now I'm home after my PT session. I did a lot of PT work today and I feel OK. My legs are a little tired but my back feels fine. My therapist today was a young woman and she worked me hard but didn't push me if something was hurting. She did a great job. Today is a scorcher but I managed to get in my yard work this morning before it became unbearable. My thumb is really starting to heal nicely and the two big blisters have almost all of the fluid in them reabsorbed into my body. Neither blister ever broke. That's a good thing.

Marsha, I don't know why and I'm going out on a limb here but I have a feeling that the Bucs are going to have a good season. I sure hope they gel and prove me right.

Nemesias, sometimes we want company and then when we get a chance to just do what we want to do we have a ball. Enjoy your time alone.

Mani, it's good to hear that your hubby is doing well. I hope he can keep that up for a long time.

Have a great day everyone.

Didn't do much today...gradually getting back to my normal PT sessions, but just that I need to have the lumbar belt on, it is a bit uncomfortable, but will get used to it. Then 2 hours of traction, then did about 8 rows of crochet on my DGGD's stole. Then a long siesta in the afternoon and then a good one hour stroll in the park with DH.... PTL hope everyday is like today. DH is also perfectly fine very peaceful and settled and his usual self.

Nancy I can understand what it is to losing your independence....the wheels did mark your sense of independence and when age and arthritis have deprived me of my independence I know just how it feels. emoticon

Lew good news that the burn is healing... and if your back is sore after the PT also means the PT is working the soreness in the muscles only proves the musles are responding to the PT. Well that's what my Physio tells me.

Marsha good to hear that you are feeling better.... but please do take care of that cough.

Nemesias good to see you post after a gap....Spending an entire day all by yourself and doing just what you want to do...is absolute bliss...God Bless You hope you have an enjoyable day.

Have a blessed new week

Hugs, Prayers & Blessings

Good to hear everyone seems to be recovering, Didmis and Lew and the one with bronchitis. There are so many with nasty coughs and colds around. Touch wood, I've been lucky so far.
Mani , Thanks for sending the rain, we had a lovely storm on Saturday and overnight and torrents of rain on Sunday morning but by 10.00 am it had cleared away and the sun was out. I took my dog for a walk on the breakwall with heaps of other folk enjoying the sunshine. Both my daughters are away this weekend but I intend to paint none stop. I won't clean the house I'll just play and paint because I won't have any visitors, but some lovely uninterupted time alone. Great fun.

Lew, the weather here, no rain today so far. They had a good night for the football game. No will never give up on home team game, or the Rays.

Glad that the therapy is helping you, and it does make you tired.

I am better, slow but sure. Going to call the doctor's office in the morning, and see what she says.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend so far. I am pet sitting Spade. They have a house guest (her Granddaughter 3) LOL and too much commution with Spade there.

Not much on TV tonight, will check the History channel, or Hallmark. They have good movies on there.

Good afternoon Ladies. Doing my physical therapy exercises every day is keeping me tired but I think it's helping my core. Only time will tell but I know I can't stop exercising. My burned thumb is starting to show some signs of initial healing and I'm being very careful to avoid infection. Our afternoon thunderstorms have been missing for the last couple of days and our chances of a shower will be lower for the next few days. That means the temperatures will hit 95 or higher. SIGH!

Mani, glad to hear that life is returning to near normal. Special occasions can be fun but they can also be tiring. I hope your Chiropractor helps you.

Nancy, I understand the dilemma you're having with the transportation question. We get so accustomed to the freedom that driving gives us that not having it is a shock. I hope I don't have to deal with that for a long time. Good luck figuring it out.

Marsha, don't give up on the Bucs. It's only pre-season. I hope you get rid of that cough soon.

Have a great day everyone.

Mani, good to read your posting, and glad you are having a lure in company for awhile. Geo. Jr. mowed and edged, and went and got me groceries this morning. He and his Son are at the Buccaneer football game this evening. I will watch in the comfort of my living room. Those days are gone. :)

Have a good evening (morning to you).

Nancy, good to see you posting. My Son was here this morning, and he mowed and edged the yard. Went and got a bunch of groceries for me since I am still under the weather. This is beginning to get on my nerves. I am going to call the doctor Monday if no better. Have one more dose of medicine tomorrow.

I will be watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers playing Miami tonight. Geo. Jr. and Grandson will be there as he took over my late DH's and my season tickets since 1975. Hope they do better this season.

Hope everyone has a great evening. I am not planning on going to church in the morning as still coughing and don't want to start in chcurch. I am pet sitting my Son's Yorkie Poo. He entertains Ginger and me. :) Geo. Jr. and his wife are keeping her Granddaughter 3 years old for her Daughter and Husband go on a cruise. Spade would drive them crazy with Gracie running around.Geo said it was either Spade coming here for a few days, or him. LOL

Good evening everyone.
Happy Independence Day, Mani and family. It sounds like you had a lovely celebration. I hope your husband feels better soon, Mani.

It was great news about Irene. She sounds anxious to get on with her life.

Gloria our weather her is cool as well. No rain today, but it felt like an autumn day.

Lew I hope your thumb heals soon. I understand about exercising. Sometimes it just becomes monotonous and boring. It's a good thing I have Oreo because I have to walk .As my older brother used to say "Just do it." (This was before Nike.

It's a big adjustment to be without a car. For fifty years I drove. I find the first need is to be very organized. I have to go into the town to run errands and buy my groceries by shanks pony. .I won't bore you with all the details, but I am walking.
My goal now is to research leases, used cars etc. but I won't make any decisions for two or three months. I do feel a loss of freedom and independence. I don't want to rely on anyone.

Take care everyone especially those of you who have coughs and health problems.

Things seem to be settling down to a little more normalcy..... well again before the madness begins and then there will be quiet, God willing till November when our next Great-great-grand-child is due, 1st week of November. Well had all my grands, great-grands & great-great-grands in full attendance today evening and as usual we Zara, Cyrus & I with help from Peter did a JigSaw Puzzle, and DH enjoyed a couple of games of chess with our nephew-in-law Josh. All in all an enjoyable evening. DH still has been coughing and is on a course of antibiotics.which makes him extra drowsy. He was in bed as soon as dinner was done and had to be woken up again for his meds.

Marsha a very sensible thing about not venturing out in the rain if you have bronchitis.

Lew, Glory, Nancy, Jen....hope all of you are doing well. Any news on Irene?

Hugs & Prayers

Good Afternoon from Sunny and humid India....

Today is our 68th Independence Day. It was 0n 15th of August 1947 that India became a free country. Have just got back from Church, where we had a special worship followed by flag hoisting and then there would also be a community lunch, but I got back after the hoisting of the flag as DH is still a bit under the weather. DH & I were given the honour of unfurling the flag as the senior most couple of the church.

Well we had a lovely birthday dinner on Tuesday for DH's 93rd Birtday, one set of our house guests left on Wednesday, my niece & her family leave next Thursday After the strain of the party both DH & I were down and needed a couple of days to recover. My Chiro visits continue.

Lew, hope the antibiotics are helping your burn heal....& keep those muscles worked my boy, lest they become like mine....I did lead a very sedentary life when I was in my 70's & regret that today.

Marsh glad your cough is better, DH too seems to have a bad cough and even with my bad ears can hear him wheeze.... he is on antibiotics as well as diuretics to get the phlegm out.

Have a great weekend

Good evening Ladies. I didn't get a lot done today but it was still a good day. I had my second Physical Therapy session and that went well. I hoped going into this that it would help my motivation to work out on a regular basis. It seems to be working. I'm doing my required PT exercises daily and I'm adding to that to get more of a workout. My core muscles have really softened up since I fell so it's going to take steady work to build them back up. Tonight I did microwave mashed potatoes again but this time I put the plastic tub on a plate and that made it much easier to handle. No mishaps today. emoticon

Marsha, I don't watch "So You Think You Can Dance" but I do watch "American Pickers" on occasion. I find that one interesting.

Lew, so glad that it wasn't anything serious, but could have very well been. Glad the doctor put you on antibolitics for your thumb, sure don't need any infection in it.

I am watching So You Think You Can Dance, don't ordinarily watch it, but a lady I used to work with years ago, her Grandson is in the finals, and I change back and forth to the American Picker. ;) I saw him dance, and now at the end they will say if he stays or goes. His name is Zack.

Have a good evening.

Good evening Ladies. I managed to get in my PT exercises early and that turned out to be a wise move. Late in the morning our oldest daughter called to say that she was taking our youngest daughter, Heather, to the emergency room but couldn't stay long. We jumped in the car and were there in 20 minutes and I didn't speed - much. Heather had a reaction to a new medicine her doctor put her on and was having cardio symptoms. It turned out to me nothing dangerous and she was out of the emergency room by 1:30 PM. We drove her home and I made my afternoon appointment to get my thumb checked. My doctor put me on a course of antibiotics. We then ran a couple of errands and just got home.

Marsha, I'm glad to hear that the cough is getting better. I sure hope you're tight about lower temps in Sept. because these dog days are slowing me down.

Take care everyone.

Good evening to all. glad that you are getting physical therapy Lew, and hope that it helps your back. My chiropractor showed me a couple that I am to do before I get out of bed in the morning. Some days I have to admit that I do forget, but do them on the couch during the day if I am laying down. Usually 3:00 is my nap time for about an hour.

Cough is improving so I guess the meds are helping.

Hope everyone has a great evening.

Good afternoon Ladies. I just got home from Physical Therapy and I'm tired. Most of what he had me do was Isometrics for the stomach and back and those muscles are weak. This is exactly what I need. Overnight our wifi router died. Sara and I went shopping and she wanted one that was good for streaming HD video. emoticon I had no idea she was streaming HD video - and I don't think she is. However, when Mama's happy everybody is happy. I'm happy. I'm thinking this thumb is going to take weeks to heal instead of days and that doesn't make anybody happy.

Jo, good to see you back but I understand why you were gone. I hate to hear that you had a car accident. At least the guy that hit you accepted blame for what he did. Unfortunately there's still a lot of hassle to take care of insurance and get your car fixed.

Nemesias, I was as surprised that I got burned by mashed potatoes. Sara said that with all of the BBQ that I cook and never get burned it is ironic that I get burned by potatoes. Glad to hear that you're still enjoying your walks.

Marsha, I didn't know about the blackout until you told me. That's great news. Enjoy Saturday night.

Have a great day everyone.

after checking all the posts was unhappy to read about Irene and others.

guess considering what I have been thru for the last 3 weeks and continuing happy I cn manage but have no choice.

could not get anyone to help - most here doing fairly well but hve family to help.

I have learned to always have something o hand and of course now with hurricane season, had a little more than usual. canned items which I am not fond of I ALWAYS KEEP ON HAND.

the gal I hit in front of me -the car hit me with such force did I hit her - she called me but unfortunately she was leaving on vacation the next day -

summer is a bad time here as most everyone goes north - and we had such a large turnover of new owners - most Canadians - and those who are here need help also.

just doing the best I can and at least my chest is now feeling a little better

my chest received the full impact but I know God was watching and helped me to manage.

still trying to find someone to help me but happy I have walkers in the apt, so was able to move around a little and happy that I have a galley type kitchen so stood in one spot between fridge and microwave as I always cook a full frozen pkge and freeze single servings.

hopefully will be ble to replenish supplies soon.

give my best to Irene - prayers with her and all of you.

Lew - happy you are doing well with all your tests, I had many of them too. this weather is not helping. suffering all ailments I came down here to avoid but weather is just like NY/NJ - could have stayed there and would have had help.

I think age is creeping up on me and will celebrate a birthday in 2 weeks. I am older than Irene so considering am doing well.

well - take care everyone - doesn't look like our weather will be changing soon. we like you Lew have temps close to 100.

midnight still around 90. Thank God for A/C - I had it up north also - started when my Hubby was confined to bed in 1964 for 2 years. had it ever since.

keep well everyone -

time for a cup of tea - that always helps me.

Hi - finally feel well enough to post.

I was involved in a car accident 3 weeks ago . we were creeping along on Lynons Road and I had a good half a car distance between me and cars in front and back.

well suddenly I was rammed from the back. the young man immediately got out of his car and said ' it was my fault - my foot was stuck on the gas and I could not remove it.'

well, I was thee only one with car damage and hurt. fortunately my seat belt held but my head went forward into the steering wheel. again fortunate that wheel was se where most of my head went into the open space. called police and I felt well enough and did not need to go to hospital. managed best I could at home - fortunately had enough food in fridge so I managed to eat a little. did not feel well to eat but managed a little.

was involved with my insurance co. etc. it was difficult for me as I had no one to help me but I managed.

will try to review what I missed but wanted to say why I wasn't posting.

hope everyone is OK spite of this terrible weather all over.

will try to check [posts - still have lots to finish with car. fortunately damage wasn't too bad and I can drive. was able to do a little shopping yesterday as I was getting low. and I had a full freezer.

bad time for this as I was in the middle of yearly tests. since I am now on Medicare did not have to complete them within a time period so I can schedule them at any time.

new I was smart to go back on Medicare - now I can schedule all tests at my convenience.

hope to check in again - just wanted you all to know I was thinking of you.

JO

I saw Lew had a burnt thumb and i thought "hot glue pot or probably welding but I read through the posts and found it was 'hot potato' There is a kids' chant about "hot potato' or maybe it is a dance.
Happy birthday to Mani's DH it is my GGGS 's birthday today too. I went down to see him and found he loves books and music. (I hope I got all those initials right) He was one year old and Mani's DH is 93 just a slight difference.
Good to see a post from Didmis and to know that she is bouncing back.
I am still walking the dog early in the mornings and watching the fishermen catch black fish on green weed in the river. The colder the weather the better the fish bite. Please send us some of your rain Mani we are on water restrictions already and it isn't even summer.

Lew, hope the thumb heals fast, sounds so painful.

I guess you heard the good news today that no black outs this year on the BUCS. First preseason game here Sat. night.

I am so sore from coughing, I think the medicine is breaking it up. Sure hope so.

Hope everyone has a good night's rest.

Good evening Ladies. Today was another day just like yesterday. I made an appointment with my doctor to get my burned thumb checked. Saturday and Sunday the parts of the thumb that seemed OK developed blisters so that the entire top of the thumb is one long wound. I can use it, the pain is slight, and it doesn't affect my sleep. No problem. emoticon This too shall pass. Tomorrow afternoon I start Physical Therapy for my back and that should last 6 weeks.

Mani, I like Raksha Bandhan. It sounds like my relationship with my sister.

Marsha, Bronchitis is no fun. I hope the get better soon.

Have a great day everyone.

Mani, thanks. I am blessed with Geo. Jr. and Judy. They both have called this morning cheking up on me, and even the Doctor's office called to see how I was feeling.

Have a blessed day.

Making this short and sweet. Woke up this morning at 4:00 with a bad cough. Called the doctors office and he said it sounded like bronchotis, phoned in 2 prescriptions, and Judy picked them up for me. Got i the first dose. I didn't go to church this morning, just didn't feel up to it.

Today was Geo. Jr.'s BD (63) Ouchie. What does time go? He and the kids all went to Busch Gardens, and glad I hadn't planned to go.

Hope everyone has a good night's rest. Will be back tomorrow.

Well the topic was also the right one as in India the Hindus celebrated a festival call "Raksha Bandhan" ..... It is all about the bond between a brother & sister, where the sister ties a thread around the brothers wrist & prays for his long life & the brother vows to protect his sister from all problems she might face in life. They also exchange gifts.

Good Sunday afternoon Ladies. This afternoon we had our first good rain in a week. The temperature was 94 when the rain started and dropped it down into the mid 70s. Sweet. We went out for a fast food lunch but otherwise just staying in watching the final day of the PGA Golf Championship.

Mani, your weather sounds like what I would like to see for a couple of weeks around here. Your Pastor picked a very good subject for his sermon. Take good care of yourself.

Marsha, I don't know what the story is with game blackouts. Like you, I won't go through the hassle of going to a game. I just walk from the refrigerator to my recliner to catch a game. I like that.

Have a great day everyone.

Hello from India,

The incessant rains have stopped, but it is cloudy and keeps drizzling every now and then. I did however manage to make it to church today after having missed 2 Sundays in a row... and enjoyed the sermon....on love & charity especially among siblings.

Lew that burn sounded bad but the good news is it isn't hurting you much... praying it heals quickly.

Marsha I know it as we age we enjoy doing stuff from the comfort of our home as far as possible. Enjoy the game & hope your team wins.

Hope all of you are having a great Sunday

Lew, I sure hope so. :) Seems we go through this every year. Have had season tickets since they started 1975, our Son has them now. Too much heat and walking for me anymore. I would rather see the games at home in comfort. They are talking about a blackout next weekend. I thought they said no more black outs.

Marsha, yes the Bucs lost but they did play some great defense at times. New coaching staff so it may take a little more time for them to really jell.

Lew, so sorry to hear about your accident. yes, those things we microwave really get hot, and mashed potatoes would really stick to the skin. Glad you went to the ER and you are better this morning.

Have a good day. Tampa Bay BUCS didn't do too good last night, hoping for a better season.
