I am eating differently. Iím not sure when this started, but it seems to be pretty well ensconced at this point. I have two mugs of coffee with H&H in the morning, then I get a little hungry about 1:00 or 2:00 pm and have yogurt w/whey or a protein smoothie. Because I donít like to cook first thing in the morning, I may have bacon and eggs for supper. That is working surprising well. I eat when I am hungry, and that means keeping good, almost ready-to-eat foods on hand. It is only necessary to prepare two meals a day.

I am ignoring the number of miles because they are not important in my health plan. They are just an indication of how active I am, which is more important to me. If I sit, my legs and feet are moving. Sitting is the new "smoking."

ROBERTA

It's great to see up back on the chat line.

I cannot imagine walking 22,000 steps in a day--WOW--that is terrific. I wonder how that would convert to miles. There must be a chart on that, but then, each person's steps are so different in length I guess they can't do that nto a chart.

iTrust everyone is having a great Friday.

This month has really flown by me. I can't believe Sept is almost here.

Steps were good yesterday: 22,196--not my best, but I'll take 'em. Steps, not miles, show how active I have been. Each stride is different. For me, miles don't count unless I am running a race around an oval track. But STEPS are a great indicator of activity. Sitting is being called the "new smoking." Very bad for us. So when I sit, I keep moving my legs and feet. When I am in the kitchen waiting for bacon to cook or coffee or tea to be ready, I make up exercises. I am getting into isometrics now--as they can be done anywhere at any time.

I'm looking forward to the arrival of ebooks from Mark Sisson. When I am not learning something new, I am miserable! I am also looking forward to breathing clean air again. Oh how sweet to have a gentle rain come in.
Make this a happy day. emoticon Hugs, Roberta

GOOD MORNING HARRIET AND JUDE (and anyone else who comes in to chat)

It's great to see you gals chatting, but I agree when you say 'where is everyone?'

But then, I'd rather see 2 gals chatting together in a friendly chat than several who are not having a good chat emoticon

I agree that losing slowly is the good way. It literally took me years to get where I am--look at my graph at the bottom of this post and you'll see that I started at 244 and am now around the 175-173 range--a huge difference. The thing that made the difference was HEALTH--I knew that with arthritis creeping in, I HAD to lose so that my knees would be better able to hold the weight. Aren't we just so foolish? Why didn't I just lose it because it was the right thing to do?
OH WELL--I've lost a lot but still have a ways to go--and IT IS HARDER THAN EVER to get that last few pounds off. emoticon

I'm really working on it. I've signed up for a team that works your butt off to see if I can get myself down to at least below 170. I HOPE IT WORKS. I was down to 171.6 a few days ago but I didn't change my ticker--it only lasted one day emoticon Then I went back up a pound.

Oh well, it is what it is and I'm still working on it

emoticon to you Harriet
And me and Jude will keep working on it. emoticon WHATEVER IT TAKES, right?

Have a great Friday CLASSY 70'S.

Jen

Hi Jude, don't worry about it you will reach your goal because YOU want to. That's what happened to me. Before I use to diet/eat properly because there was an affair or some such reason. This time it was because I wanted to be healthy for me. The time just flew by so fast I didn't even realize it. It will happen to you too. A big hug you too, Harriet

I agree Harriett, This is the best site on the computer. You have done a remarkable job of taking the extra pounds off and it is great that it took that amount of time.. Everyone tells us that it will stay off if we do it slowly and learn from it...I am VERY ENVIOUSLY but I will get there.

So good to see someone on the chat line. I hope we can all get back to helping each other. Take care and keep up the good work... Hugs Jude

Hi ladies,
It's so nice to be able to write to you. It keeps me in check. I bounce around two to three pounds ever so often. It took me almost three years to lose the weight. I feel so lucky to have found Spark People in Woman's World magazine. I think/know it was one of the best thing that happened to me. I love their recipes and all the articles. Paul says that I spend too much time on the computer, but what the hey, a girl has to do what a girl has to do.
The best to you.

Hi Jen and Harriett, gosh it is not very busy on our chat line. Where is everyone? I need help for sure. It is hard getting back to normal when there is no one to talk to. Things are hard with DH and his health but I can't continue to stay away and miss my friends and my goals. I need to keep trying.

Harriett, I have not met you but wow, you are at your goal and sound like you are really pushing yourself. How great. Keep up the good work but don't hurt yourself trying.

good luck to each of us and take care.

Hi Everyone,
just to let you know that we skipped the gym yesterday but went today. I am slowly increasing the treadmill by time, hill and speed. It really felt good. I wish I could say the same with the squats. After weeding the garden this AM I had a little difficulty finishing my sets. Tomorrow is another day.

Hi team

I am happy to tell you I have been able to contact Jude--DAISYPETAL--our team leader. She tells me her DH Prem has been terribly ill, in th hospital or nursing home most of the time since June and today-Tuesday - will be in the hospital to have transfusions. Please pray for them. She is really running tired and he is really fighting for life.

I have finally had a decent week health wise and am feeling a bit better. If all goes well I am thinking about trying to return as team leader. I just got so very weary of the stress that I had to get away from it for a while. I am a peace loving person who does not want to be in the middle of ANY unnecessary stress but will not run from needed 'stuff'. Nuff said.

I am back with the best of wishes for our team and hope to see this team continue to have the best of attitudes, and many daily visits from our best members who love to HELP each other live the healthy life in a friendly manner.

Come back often, when you have a friendly contribution to make to our daily chatter emoticon

Love and emoticon to all

Oh, Harriett, that is such a good report on your success at the gym. Good for you! It is good that you are pacing yourself in the beginning--saves you time lost from injuries. I hope Paul follows your lead and stays well. Hugs, Roberta

Today was our fifth day at the gym. It's getting easier and I have increased my time on the treadmill. The squatting was little bit tiring but I finished the sets that I was told to do. I hoping that next week I can add to it. Paul is not doing too well. I can't tell him what he is doing is too much too soon. He doesn't want to here that. Hopefully he will see that himself and ease up a bit.

I haven't been on line for a while but I always looked for Lew's posts. He has informative chatty and encouraging posts. I wish him and his family well.He was very open in discussing his family's problems and I appreciated his point of view. I loved his fishing posts and his woodwork and leatherwork posts because hobbies are essential when trying to lose weight and to keep one's mind busy on something positive. It is easy to look for the bad but a lot more difficult to look for the good in people which was Lew's strong point.

Thanks for the advise. Having a bad back doesn't help either. I'm doing squats. I was told that they will strengthen my back. We shall see if the trainer is correct over time.

Another TO-DO done: my voter registration and absentee voter forms came yesterday. They are filled out and ready to mail. These little TO-DOs just keep popping up.

To really become a citizen of this city, I need to get out and about regardless of the weather and intimidating traffic. Odd goals to have!!! Have a happy day.

Hi Everyone,
I'm so sorry that there seems to be tension among some of you. I hope that all the bad feelings that are going around can end. Life is too short and we are all working so hard to be healthy people inside and out. I know that I'm one of the nubies of this team. I do recognize some of you from other teams.

I understand that Lavender smells fantastic. I once read a long time ago that someone dried the plant and sewed them into a pouch to put into her underwear draw.

You of all people should know that Jo's comments were way out of line. She must realize she is accountable for what she says and that she cannot just say what she pleases about such a great man as Lew.

I strongly doubt that she is the oldest member of this team!!!!

The stress on this team is not my fault--as you intimated, I am seldom here. So how could I possibly be responsible for any stress you are referring to.??

This team needs a lot of help and I was willing to be the one to help, but you guys do not want help--I have been leader of several very successful teams on Sparks but they were not willing to let their team members snip at each other. That is just not right. She should not be allowed to talk about other team members like that, and HIS FAMILY--UGH.

I strongly resent her comments about him and his family.

If you do not, then you are not a friend of his either.

So sorry you feel this way.

One person sent me a Spark Mail giving me CONGRATULATIONS for trying to get Jo straightened out. Says it is long overdue.

Jen I agree with Mel.
Jo is the oldest member of the team and all should be treated with kindness even those who have problems.
Jo answered my posts a lot of time
All of the other teams I belong to are kind to all even if they might not agree with some things.
For awhile Lew almost carried the team by himself.
I miss him much and he would be devastated to see the contention.
He would have spoken kindly to Jo.
He always spoke kindly to all.
He answered my comments and spoke kindly of the devotions.
Since I was gone for a long time with multiple problems and a near death experience where friends came in to pray for me and God brought me through I am in an assisted living facility.
I still have much pain and many nights can't sleep When I do get on the computer I don't want to live with the stress this team brings. I withdrew but signed up again so I could send this.
Sorry if I am unkind to you but you as leader are the one too show us what kindness is.
I miss Lew so much but he and his wife both have health issues. He is a great man.

Betty- I was just reading down the line and see you are in a size 10--WOW AND emoticon I don't think I've been size 10 since I was a teen ager--You go girl-- emoticon
Those crab cakes sound so tempting--I used to live right on the Chesapeake bay and we often enjoyed the bay crabs--but now,in Charlotte NC--not so much-no crabs here LOL

My WORD program isn't working so I can't just go down the line and 'chat' with everyone. I have to click 'off' and then back 'on' to chat these days--so--I'll be back

Fay--I know what you mean about those farm people--wonderful folk, great food, but oh me--murder on the hips LOL For about 6 years we lived in Hanover PA and just loved to go over to visit Lancaster area....lots of good stuff there. I guess that's why I am here on Sparks trying desperately to lose these hips emoticon

Harriett--you asked about gowing Lavender--I'm wondering what is good about that plant. Maybe I should try to grow it.

Mel--sure sounds like you are getting a huge head start on your 'fall cleaning'.. emoticon GOOD JOB---it's just way too hot here in NC to even think of cleaning right now. I hope you are nearly finished. That sounds like a huge job you've already done.

I've started a new study online that is really fascinating and is taking a lot of time but it will be well worth the effort. I try to never stop learning.

Well, it's about time to get off here for now

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday. It rained a very little bit here but is rather nice now so I'm enjoying it inside--still hot outside.

Till later

Your post had absolutely no part in what I posted to Jo. My post is absolutely my words and not yours. I did NOT CALL HER NAMES....I am not that kind of person, and would hope that no one else on this team is either. I love this team and want only the best for Classy 70's future.

I am sorry you are embarrassed but Jo has NOT been disciplined as a child. I have spoken to her as an adult because she has spoken as an adult who is being very inconsiderate toward our faithful Leader Lew. He was ALWAYS HERE, EVERY DAY and does not need to be belittled by anyone.

She has not been reported, and will not be, provided she behaves in a considerate manner toward other team members in the future.

Sparks does have rules of behavior including being kind in our words.

Oh, Jen, now I AM embarrassed. I consider Jo a team friend of mine and not someone to be disciplined like a child or reported to the authorities!

I was just expressing my own differing approach, hopefully with some restraint and not trying to order her around or report her. I want no part of calling Jo names and accusing her of anything. I consider Jo a valuable team member and I am interested in hearing her experience with the Windows 10 launch that some of us have been working through.

To the rest of the CLASSY 70 TEAM

I apologize for the post I had to send to JO a very wayward team member who needed to be told how to behave on this fine eam, it is below this one and I regret having to send this to her on this public forum. Her comments against Lew were so out of order that I felt very compelled to let her know that our team is totally not open to that kind of gossipy chatter.

Forgive the interruption in our otherwise usually happy chat line and please pick up with the great posts that I love to read daily.

You are a great bunch of people that I enjoy coming here to read daily.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

NEVER LET OUR CHAT LINE GET NASTY AGAIN.

THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

JEN--YOUR LEADER

P.S. Anyone interested in helping to co-lead. I think Jude is busy at the hospital with Prem. Haven't heard from her since June.

JO--

I strongly resent your attack on Lew--He is one of the finest gentlemen you will ever fine anywhere, especially here on Sparks.

I would say you owe him an apology but he very wisely left the entire program when he left this team.

I don't even know why I am talking to you- --YOU ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN SAYING WHAT YOU THINK AND BRAGGING ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY.

If I had the power as TEAM LEADER I would delete you from the team roster.
Please do not ever attack another team member as long as you remain on this team. If you do, I WILL REPORT IT TO THE SPARKS OFFICIALS and ask that you be removed from this team.

DID YOU READ THIS? I SURELY HOPE SO.

A quick fly-by and then will try to do a longer post later in the day.

Just want to respond to JO re latest post. I respectfully differ with you about Lew's reason for leaving. I don't like to do too much conjecturing on other team member's private lives. But as for me, I just wish every young family had such an interested and wise father and grandfather.

So, here's Super Kudos to Lew for being a very fine family patriarch.

Also, I think most of the info he had to offer here on the team was pretty solid and helpful.

Here's to The Classy 70s! emoticon

Mel-

I did the same as you but then was offered Win 10 - free, they cleared my PC of everything and then installed Window 10. it all took over 5 hours.

I think since my PC is new and Microsoft installed there latest program, i have the latest win 10 at this point but they advised that a new Windows 10 will be available soon and will be installed

the first Win 10 Target was removed from shelves and when i questioned the sales person he said that it was removed because a new Win 10 will be available soon.

I think that is why i have trouble getting on PC -

I am hoping that Microsoft will advise me of everything when it is all available.

I think it is all due to the fact that i was never on a different program. since my PC is new.

I am hoping the new Windows 10 book will be available soon.

Sorry about Lew leaving but not surprised as he was not up-to-date with it all it and unfortunately his children did not help by not telling him. he still thought of them as little kids -

finding out that Heather had been on Win 10 for over a year affected him.
i wish him well and i think he will come thru fine.

i will keep you posted on this new Win 10. However i do think you should contact Microsoft for infor. I believe that they have a question and answer section. i used it often but now will wait for more info on this new version of Win 10.

don't give up but i will advise that you do not try working with any info Lew gave you. i know too much abt PC's as I'm have had a home PC since they first came out in 2000. you would be surprised on what we were doing on them.

if i can help with anything just ask. as this Win 10 is a new ball game.

JO

Hi Everyone,
Mel, yes, my team has won the last 4 games! They still have a chance if they keep on. Those Yankees though and Toronto are doing well also.
As far as the weight I will be happy to stay a size 10, just not a TIGHT size 10! emoticon That is why I said when I get to 145 I will be content. I just bought some new size 10's and for my age I feel pretty good about being in a Petite 10. So feel like I can hold this weight better if I just drop a few more lbs. I did buy a store pumpkin pie yesterday and I had a tiny piece with whipped cream. Most of the time I do not like store bought pies, but we have a Shoprite store that has an excellent bakery. Then it was on sale for $1.99, so I couldn't resist it. DH will help eat it. Off to treadmill today so I can have another tiny slice! emoticon I do not refrain from everything I like, so I don't feel like I am on a diet. My new WOE is to eat something once in a while that I enjoy-which in my case is sweets. ok, need to do some things to get ready for my trip next week, also have meat in frig which I bought yesterday-some crab meat which I have to put together for crab cakes and freeze-etc.

Have a good day everyone.

A year and more of losses undone! I'm still trying to learn to include the enjoyable get-togethers which of course (at least here [PA Dutch churches believe as much in feeding the body as well as the soul]) in this church backed senior community.

Last week included a spaghetti fundraiser and a root beer float after our movie. Tonight is our monthly dinner/meeting for the courts and tomorrow a ladies' brunch. Friday is birthday celebration with cake and ice cream for August celebrants. These are my social events which draw me out from being a homebody and not very interesting meals...although I try to have mostly fresh produce. emoticon emoticon = emoticon

Hi Mel, Thanks for the information about growing the Lavender. When we go out today I'm going to see if they are being sold now. I have a spot that I can grow them.

We joined a gym so that we can use the machines. I hope it works out because we both are not very strong me from back injuries and him from we don't know what his knees buckle. Hoping to become stronger.

Hello all ladies (and any gents reading) of great Classy 70s fame! lol

I've been doing some deep, deeper but not deepest cleaning in the kitchen all morning since DH left for work and fiddling with the doggie's customized food and a hit and miss swishing out of the bird bath out in front and numerous other little chores that take time but weren't really even on my list for today. Haven't even begun those yet. I have not walked yet today either so better get crackin' !

Gloria, Are you relaxing with your petit feathered friend today? How's your weather for sitting outdoors on yr balcony? Are you still feeling a bit out of sorts over the recent changes in two of the yr teams? Are you still with the Classy 70's, by the way? I admit I am a little confused and never did get Jen's Spark Mail message to everyone so I am not sure whether she's quit both teams or what. It's o.k. though, I don't have to know everything.lol

Betty, well, what about it? Did yr team win yesterday? Do you and DH eat yr meals sitting in front of the games? You gave me a laugh when you said now you need August to end so you can get on with the weight loss thing. I do get that, though. I am about where you are size-wise and about to have to get serious about getting smaller jeans and slacks. I am putting that off as long as I can but they are starting to look sort of baggy-funky on me now. So... Here is a premature HAPPY BIRTHDAY wish for you! Have fun at World's End Park and with yr. family the 25th!

Harriett, About lavender. Yes it is easy to grow, even here on the cooler north coast and where we have it planted it gets only a few hours of sun every day that the sun shines, which isn't every day due to our many foggy days. I don't have a regular garden in the ground for vegetables or anything thing that needs much attending. We have garden boxes on our deck and lots of pots. Still a lot to keep up with and between the two of us we barely keep it going.

Your question about whether we can do o.k. without a team leader... I guess it remains to be seen. Gloria would know better how to answer that as I am relatively a newbie here compared with her and with Jen and Lew and others.

Until later, Mel

Hi Mag, Is it easy to grow lavender? Does it need a lot of sun? I do enjoy tending to my flowers and the few vegetables that I have growing in pots. We had to give up our vegetable garden three years ago due to "older aging". It's quite surprising what you can grow in large pots.

Ladies, do we really need a Team Leader? I know that I'm not on "Let's Chat" as long as all of you but I do believe that, altho he is missed by us all, we can carry on with our chats.

So sorry to lose Lew. Our lives do get involved and SP leaders do take dedication. I wish I could help Jen out but as all of you see, I don't get on here as much as I should either. I do have more time in the winter as no outside chores to do. If my DH saw this he would laugh as he does most of it. I spend time sitting on the deck and enjoying it while the weather is nice. I also spend a lot of time watching ball games. Love baseball, even if our Orioles are doing poorly. Toronto is on top now. Today we have a game at 1:30, so it means planning the meals around it! emoticon

Gloria, did I read it right, that we are losing you also as a leader? Sorry to hear this as you are always on here encouraging everyone. Jen, I hope you find someone. I don't like to see you do away with the post.

Okay, the weight issue. I haven't been under 150 for a long time, so my new WOE seems to be working. My new goal is going to be 145, and then I am going to say, ok, this is my new weight and be happy. I no longer am going to strive for my 137 goal. I am now in a size 10 and starting to buy new clothes as my 12's are too big. So, I need Aug to end to start my new journey for a few more lbs off. Next week, I am going to Pa. to visit 2 sisters, along with my girls. Tue the 25th (also my birthday) we will go to Worlds End Park for a picnic. I always loved Worlds End. Then will be home on Thursday the 27th. Thus the end of parties ! Then onward to a new loss.

Need to get breakfast now for DH, then decide on a dinner as we have a 1:30 ball game to watch. Have a good week everyone.

Good heavens, so much to take in after my power was out all day yesterday and by the time I saw the Classy 70s chat thread late last night it was way too late to write a post.

First of all, IRENE, I am super pleased to see you back and read your post! I liked your story about Marcy and could just see you waking up to see her watching you sleep. I'm so happy for you that you had the fun gathering around the table for supper! I do hope you are able to keep posting here. I will read your blog also today. Be Well and Happy!

GLORIA, you really did sound "floored" in your post last night. Well, you have been a friend of LEW's for quite a long while, so it is no wonder. Frankly I had been expecting to hear that LEW would leave. No surprise to me. I second all the good things you said about him and wish him all the best. And Gloria, I do apologize, but I would so not be the right person to help lead the team. I am clear about that. Let us hope the right ones come along or we are toast. lol

JEN, I do understand how busy you are and how much one can easily have on one's plate. I fight that battle all the time. Maybe someone will come along to help lead the team. If not, we will have to go with the flow.

HARRIETT, our weather here on the west coast has been very warm this summer a lot of the time. Global Warming is coming after us! The gardening you got done yesterday sounds lovely. It always gives me a good feeling of accomplishment too, even when I just dead-head a few rose bushes, or gather some of the lavender for seeds in a bowl to make the house smell good.

JO, I have the Windows 10-HOME edition. That is the one they were giving away free at the end of July. The upgrade is called Windows 10 PRO and can be purchased for $99.00, or so I read on line.

DEE, I think you do well getting here as much as you do considering the demands on your time. Same with me, really. Always so much going on with all the family involvement here.

This post took me about three hours to finish as I kept being interrupted and finally got up and ran off with my DH. We drove over to watch the waves and the summer people. Rokki and I walked back home via the beach along the edge of the surf. It was 1.8 miles, and we took it really pokey slow and she enjoyed scampering from the incoming waves. Beach walking is taxing but gets a lot of my muscles included in the workout and is good for improving the poor post-stroke balance that I'm trying to improve. I was fagged out and so was Rok, so as soon as we walked in the door I took Rok's leash and collar off and my hot things off too, inc. my walking shoes. She headed for her water dish and I had an ice cold St. Pauli N.A. and kicked back to finish my post. I could really use an afternoon nap, but there are a still few duties calling.

Bye for now,
Mel

I'm sorry that Lew left us too. He seemed like a very caring man.

This has been one of the strangest summer that I can remember. I live in upstate New York and we have been having 60 degrees in the AM gradually going into the 80's in the PM.

Did some gardening yesterday. Tried to stay out of the sun as much as I could. I'm happy that I got some things accomplished.

Bye Ladies, enjoy your day.

Good morning everyone!

Irene, I read your blog and so enjoyed it! I'm glad you had such a nice visit with Marcy, you are sounding like your old self my dear friend.

I, too, am stunned at the abrupt departure of Lew and will miss him terribly.

Last night I slept really well and woke up to a foggy outdoors. Pretty warm so that's an indication of a hot day today! No plans, will just see what's going on as the day opens.

Enjoy your Saturday ladies, and have a wonderful weekend.

My good friend Marcy came to visit. I laid down, said I would not hear the phone if it did ring as I am almost deaf and would ignore all who came in. Well, they came in to put my washing away, tried to ignore them and kept my eyes closed, then someone came with meds, tried to ignore them but they were persistent and someone even moved my walker out of reach. Then to sleep again. Then I hear voices in the room and it was the director of nursing and Marcy talking. She had been sitting watching me sleep after driving some 20 miles to see me. That is when she must have taken pictures. I woke up and the DON said. Irene Marcy is here.
You bet I got up. It was almost time for supper. We found an empty table so we could visit but soon two friends from here asked if they could sit with us. Then walked in my two good friends from the church, so we made quite a group around this table built for four. Lots of fun.

We will miss you horribly. I looked forward to your posts and comments so much and you did such a good job.

May God bless you and lead you in your journey. I know you have personal problems as we all do and I have cut back.

Wow, I didn't see this one coming! Very sad news indeed. Lew was one of the best leaders Classy 70's has had, he came in faithfully on the chat line, was a friend to all, gave us great info and I loved reading about his fishing trips. I don't know what to say, I'm floored!

As far as I can tell, Lew has left SP and Jude has not come on as leader since June. The last I heard about her husband is that he was doing okay. Odd that she has never updated us about him.

That leaves Jen and Jen is a really good person and really tries hard to get everyone involved in one thing or another on the team. She has a lot on her plate, a lot of personal things going on so how about it team? Anyone willing to get aboard the leadership board and help her out?? All you'd need to do is come on the chat thread and talk to members who are interested in coming in here, maybe think up a new challenge, respond to members, etc. If you've ever led a team before, step up and offer Jen a hand. If you have not ventured to lead, now is a great time to start, a good team and great leader to begin with!

I've led many teams for years, was leader of this one twice. I gave up leadership because I've done it for so long and needed to come in as just a member for a change.

All the best to Lew, he's a super nice man and boy oh boy, I for one am going to really miss his cheerfulness, helpfulness, story telling, interesting fellow that he is.

Good evening Ladies. As I have posted in the past I have been taking steps to simplify my life. As difficult as it was to make the decision I have decided to leave Sparkpeople. I hate to leave my friends on Classy 70s but this is something I have been agonizing over for two months and need to do for my own well being. I want to wish you all the success in whatever lies ahead for you.

I don't do well with long goodbyes and even posting this is painful. So after I post this I will close my account.

Keep Moving,

Lew

back again.

read all the posts - everyone seems to be weathering this strange summer. we have very hot temps in the mid or higher 90's. most everyone is staying indoors.i try to get out for shopping but wait until late afternoons - have trouble with nite driving so try to go out and back before dark.

i seem to be the only one on the NEW WINDOWS 10. so far only went on this team. hopefully i will master the new Win 10 - access is different but i will master it. i think the new Win 10 is much better than the old one and happy i went on it now. will keep you all posted.

Irene - happy things working out for you. i still have trouble with walking but the walker helps and i manage.

haven't been on PC much as the NEWS has been taking my time. watched the events in Cuba this morning. somehow, i don't seem to think they are sincere and i see that many Cubans here think the same.

we haven't had much rain either and everything is drying up. tomorrow will go to Target as they have some food items i can't get in other stores. really a pain as i have to go in 3 stores for my food items and the stores are not close to each other.

glad i changed to the new Win 10 - i like it so far and hopefully will check on other programs.
would help if weather cooperated but very thankful that A/C working well. and all the inconvenience we had with all the new A/C installations worth it. our temp 24/7 very high and go out late just to empty garbage. i see the NE not doing too well either.

time for tea and hopefully will try other programs on new Win 10. if you change, make sure you get the NEW WINDOWS 10.

keep well everyone -

JO

McGee2 -

i believe you are working with the new Windows 10 like i am. quite a difference between the old and the new.

my PC had the latest Microsoft programs and i think you do also.

my suggestion is to go with the latest 10 as you seem to have what i had. the new Windows 10 is a new ball game.

if you are able to find an instruction booklet on the NEW WINDOWS 10, buy it.

i noticed that Target for instance removed the Win 10 books they had. i spoke to various sales people and they said Target will have the new Windows 10 book soon.

you can check with other stores but make sure you get the new Windows 10 book.

your PC comments i believe yours is like mine.

i strongly suggest that you check with Microsoft soon as they will have it free now but will charge for it at the end of the year.

the above is my experience with it all and you seem to have the same as me.

JO

Lew - sorry to say but you are on the old Windows 10, I am on the new Windows 10.

you are on the one Heather has and our PC club did not bother to install it. I think Sara's new PC will take it but you are working with the old 7 and depending on whether yours will be able to take it, you will be instructed.

sorry to disagree with you Lew. i believe Heather will be able to upgrade to the new Windows 10 -

check with Microsoft.

Hi Friends
It's been so long since I've been here to chat that I almost feel like a visitor instead of a team co-leader. Forgive me and just chalk it up to my hectic schedule.

I'm seeing some new friends here and missing some old ones.

I never like to miss old friends and hope they are just busy with outdoor stuff in this nice weather--even though it may be hot, it is better than icey or snow--at least that's my opinion and 'Im stickin' with it' LOL

I LOVE seeing old friends. Wish more of them were posting. Maybe a team letter would bring a few back again, eh? We'll see.

HARRIETT - now you know that those 'cutting the rug' days are somewhat more scarce these days. LOL But we never give up do we?

NEVER quit trying to stay active. Once those muscles are gone they seem to never come back.j

Lew--you sure do stay active. You are a great example to the whole team--you really are a great example to us all -- you really do stay active.

Irene--you just do the best you can, and that is all any of us, or the Lord expects. You do your best. God knows about it.

DD just called from the chemo center and they cannot give her chemo today because her magnesium is too low, soooo they have to give her mag. and she will have to go back to get chemo another day. There seems to be no end to her problems with this series of chemo treatments. It really has kept us going. But at least God has given her life. The doctors told her she would not live past 2008 , and she is still here.

ANYWAY---it's a great day here in NC--not too hot, not raining, good day

Talk to you again later.

Jen

I'm sorry that you have been having so much pain. Could it be from all that partying? I did something to my right leg chair dancing at my Grand Niece's wedding. There was a time when I was able to cut a mean rug. Happy Birthday! Good luck to you and am looking forward to when you return.

emoticon emoticon Sorry I've been so absent recently. Between being wound up over birthday party and terrific leg/back pain and sleepless nights, I cannot catch up on teams, posts, etc.

We had a ball on my 80th birthday celebration on Sunday and I've been paying for it all week! Leg pains are terrific and I'll be glad when my family doctor can get me in to see the surgeon. He's trying to get me in as quickly as possible but those surgeons are all booked up for months & months!! I made up my mind to go along with whatever it takes to get the pain gone from my back and leg, it's a heck of a way to have to live and it's been like this over a year and progressing fast now! Something needs to be done.

I've missed you friends and will come in to read and chat as soon as I can. Hope you understand. And great to see our Irene posting but Irene, take it easy, we do understand about everything, you being in assisted living now and the difficulty getting on and staying on computer. Just come and read for a while dear.

Take it easy everyone, enjoy life, be happy and healthy as you can!

Yes, I have my computer in my assisted living room. I don't get it on it much as my back hurts and legs swell when I do so haven't chatted.
Thanks to all of my emoticon ,s and especially to Marcy for keeping everyone updated.

Good evening Ladies. Today was a hot day and the roller coaster ride continued. The city inspector didn't come because the AC company didn't schedule it but he'll be here tomorrow. The garage door opener was shot so he installed a new opener. It works fine. Then we took back our new wireless printer for a refund and chose a different one. Trying to get it to connect to my computer was a nightmare. I spent 2 hours with a Hewlett Packard technician and he couldn't figure it out. Then I lost my connection to him and cleaned up what he had changed and suddenly it started working. I connected our other 2 computers to the printer and they connected as smooth as silk. emoticon emoticon Wireless printers are so helpful but they can be a nightmare if there's a problem installing them.

Have a great day everyone.

I agree, as I'm sure everyone does, that we want our family to always be in tact. They are irreplaceable and such fun to be with.

emoticon Good evening Ladies. Today was exciting. Josh and his Mom came out and he bought the car from my friend, Mike, across the street. Mike gave Josh a fantastic deal because he wanted to help a young hard working kid. Josh is beside himself. His parents are amazed at what he got for his money. The car had two power windows that wouldn't operate and Josh had them all working before dinner. Over time he'll fix the other 2 things he knows will need fixing. Sara and I helped him a little with the money so he could pay Mike in full. Our furniture arrived this afternoon and we're happy with it. The sofa is smaller than the old one and it makes the room look a little bigger. Tomorrow we have the garage door guy coming to fix the door and the city inspector comes to inspect the air conditioner installation.

Harriett14, life has it's ups and downs and mechanical things breaking have to be treated as what they are. Inevitable obstacles. Being a boat owner, however small the boat, gets a guy acclimated to things breaking down. As long as it's not my wife or family breaking down then it's easy to handle. Our family is similar than yours. Sara has 2 siblings but I have 8. .

Mel, it's a shame that Rokki is getting bullied. That does get to a small dog. Those bad guys are really big to her. If I were her I would bark my head off. emoticon Sorry about the yeast infection. I have what the Dermatologist thinks is Ringworm, a fungus, but the medicine doesn't seem to be helping.

Have a great day everyone.

Harriett14, You really do have lots of family. .Glad you had such a grand time at the wedding.

Lew, Hope the AC issue gets and remains settled for you two. We don't have or need such a thing in our home, but I hate it when my cars AC go out.

Got a great gdaughter out to find "skinny jeans" that are long enough for her long skinny legs. Miraculously we found some in a newish clothing store right here in our little town yesterday. She found some tops and a jacket as well and some underthings. She is pretty well set to start school and her registration starts today. It makes me feel so good when I am able to help one of the kids achieve something that is important to them. This will be her last year in middle school.

It's drizzling and gray here today as it was yesterday afternoon. I was able to find a window of opportunity and got two walks walked without getting too wet. Rokk has had several encounters with mean large dogs this week and has become less willing to keep quiet when she sees dogs on the trails. She tries to tell me how important it is that she do her dogly duty and bark her warnings. Must defend and besides she's scared shushless. I'm challenged with helping her over this set-back, if that is what it can be called, in her obedience training. Two different times this week I thought she might get killed or maimed because of off-leash dogs chasing her, or attempting to... the owners were somehow able to intervene just in time.

Struggling with a first time ever yeast condition on my upper torso caused by heat and perspiring from my walks. It has me trying to learn all I can about yeast to get this under control. I guess it is more common as one ages. Very uncomfortable and worrisome too.

Waving to all Classy 70s,

Mel

You are so right Lew, it was great being with most of our family. We have a rather large one. We are both one of 6 siblings. This was Paul's side. In June was mine.

Good evening Ladies. This week started with another visit by the air conditioning guy to replace a fuse that was the wrong size. Wednesday the building inspector comes. We should pass but you never know. Today the garage door opener started acting up so I'll have to call them. AHHHHH, the joys of home ownership. The American dream. emoticon

Harriett14, we always enjoy family weddings and the chance to see lots of people. Glad you had fun.

Mel, I agree with you. I enjoyed Gloria's blog and the pictures.

Good afternoon Ladies. Sorry I've been absent but the air conditioner saga seems never ending. We have had the AC guys at our house 5 out of the last 6 days. They installed the new system yesterday. This morning I picked up Josh to do the lawn and noticed the house warming up. NO air conditioning. I called them and the tech showed up at 1 and fixed the problem. On the way out with Josh I told him that my neighbor would be selling his little Mazda and it was in Josh's price range. Josh knows the guy so he went across the street and looked at the car and talked to Mike. Mike told Josh that he would sell it to him for 500 less than he told me he was going to ask for it. I called Josh's Dad and Donald came out to test drive the car. I think Josh is getting his first car and it is a fantastic deal. He's going to talk to both of his parents and run the numbers just to make sure but I don't see how they can pass up this deal and it's the perfect size car for a college student when he starts next year.

Dee, I have installed Windows 10 on 3 laptops here and we didn't lose any files. They get displayed a little different but I'm sure you can figure it out. The desktop looks like Windows 7 but there's a white windows icon on the left end of the bottom tray that you click on to bring up the Windows 8 like display of the Apps installed. Every computer we installed it on run a tad faster than before so I think the programming is cleaner than before.

Mel, that's good info on the links you posted.

Have a great day everyone.

DEE, just a quick line to say that my understanding is that you will be able to change back to your window 7 (or 8-1) easily if you prefer it. But only within the month after you download so have to make up yr mind pretty quickly. Here is a link to the article I read. Lots of info on this website.

I like the Edge Browser so far that takes the place of Windows Explorer which I wasn't using anyway.

I feel like I have been gone weeks, not just days. I was surprised to read where you have upgraded your computer to windows 10, Lew. I am still looking at info. I appreciate your advice Jo, and now with Lew joining the "10", I will be closer to making the leap.
I don't suppose if all my programs don't transfer I can go back to 7? Like to go in and restore computer to an earlier date?

I guess if I have too many questions, I should just try it. I have all my programs backed up to an external hard drive so I won't lose the info.

It's been a busy week again, but good. Funny then by Friday night I wonder why I am so tired.
We had a thunderstorm go through here on Thursday. Dropped 4.9 inches of rain in one hour. Some flooding in the area, roads damaged, basements flooded, kind of a mess. Our museum sustained a lot of damage from a roof that has a leak and water running under a door. Flat roofs in South Dakota are always a problem---so major repair is needed.

Good to read everyone's comments. Take care and have a good weekend.

Thanks for the info Lew. We like the crappies dipped in milk then a combo of breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese. I'm from upstate New York where there are plenty of fishing holes.
