I am in the same boat as u. I really want to become a runner. I committed to run a 5k with my nieces this summer and I don't want to let them down. I am in Michigan with 3 small kids so I am only doing the elliptical and waiting for my honey to bring in my treadmill from storage. I am so nervous about running and have no idea why. I have alway had anxiety about actually achieving my fitness goals for some reason. Determined to get over it and get fit!!!! Good luck

First...I am NOT a runner...but I am trying to become one..lol! I started running with a friend from work...2 days a week but it hasn't been very consistant...and then last week it just hit me. I can be consistant if I want to be...I ran a total of 4.5 miles last week...on my own! So proud of myself and then this morning...DH got up at 5a.m. and ran a mile and a half with me!

Ran my first 5k this morning. It was slow, 43 minutes, but it was far better than where I was back in February!

I feel proud of my latest accomplishment... I ran in my second half marathon a little over a week ago. I started with C25K in January of 2007 and look at me now. The weather was awfully warm and humid so it took me a shade longer to run this one compared to my first.

I hope that everyone is having a great week!

Nice work, Mojirah and Andrea Sue.

Don't worry too much about the scale, Mojirah. Like Bibee1 said, it's probably extra weight from muscle gain. Stick with it and I bet you'll see that scale move soon.

thanks BIBEE1!! and no I didn't do any measurements....i could really kick myself for that. but yes I do feel a difference in my clothes. i thought with this much weight to lose that it would be melting off by now. but i am DEFINITELY not giving up. If i give up now, I will lose the little endurance i have gained. thanks again!!

when I started running the last time, I gained 2 pounds in the first four weeks.

did you measure anything? are your pants fitting better? those are better indications of getting more fit.

keep going, I quit and am having a hard time getting started again.

good luck mojirah!

ok, I completed week 4 yesterday. It's amazing how far i've come yet how far I have to go!!! I can really tell a difference in my endurance and energy level. The only thing is that I'm not losing that much weight. I haven't been too strict diet wise which is probably the problem...but I would think that I'm burning way more than I'm eating. maybe i'm totally wrong. I just know that I haven't worked out this hard.....ever!!! any ideas?

Well, I started week 2 today....walking for 3 min and jogging for 2 min. It was hard. I run outside and here in Florida it's about 300 degrees outside so that doesn't help. It' hard to believe that one day I will be able to jog for 5 minutes. I'm just happy that I can run for 2min at this point. Didn't think it would be that hard....I just have to keep telling myself it will get easier. emoticon

Great job! So how was Week 1? I started week 4 yesterday and I have to admit I feel pretty good. Today was an "rest" day, but I mowed, cleaned, etc so I kept pretty busy. I think I'll go put all that into my fitness tracker and see what kind of calories I burned.

I just wanted to share that today I burned over 1000 cals jogging/brisk walking. I walked for a hair over an hour and just over 4 miles. I know that's small potatoes compaired to most of you lovely ladies, but I am so proud of myself! I kicked major butt today! I do have a lovely blister on my foot from my little adventure, but I'll wear my battle scar with pride. C25k week one is now complete, and then some!

I can do this! I know I can!

Well, workout 2 down, 1 more to go before I make it a whole week. I really forgot so quickly how much I like this program. It makes me feel like I worked, but not to the point that I feel I might die, thus leaving me wanting to come back again! I am really glad I found this team to help me get started again!

I finally got back on the running wagon. I did the first workout today, and remembered how good it felt to actually do it. Running is by no means my favorite exercise activity, but it is one of the most therapeutic for me. Here's to getting back to it after too long away!

Great job Kadore!

I was very excited when I stepped on the scale this morning. Although this was an unofficial weighin AND Thanksgiving is tomorrow I weighed 149!! That is the first time I've been under 150 in, well, FOREVER, I think! Also, it means I've lost 40lbs here on Spark. I'm not sure it will stick with this week of traveling and family stuff but I sure will try to make it stick!

Have a great day!

Micki- way to go finishing week 2!!! That is great.

Agnes- Congratulations on getting into grad school! That is wonderful news. How exciting!! I am sorry you are not feeling well. Hope you feel better very quickly!

I changed up my running this morning. I am trying to increase my pace but that is hard for me. I did 5 minute intervals of faster speeds both jogging and walking. I felt like I got a good workout because of the faster speeds even if I didn't run the whole 30 minutes.

Have a good one!

-Beth

Congrats Micki on finishing week 2!!

I'm sick...taking a few days off until I feel better. My husband is trying to convince me that it's from running outside in the cold, but I think it's just a bug.

On the personal note, some of you know I've applied to grad school towards nurse anesthesia masters program...well after months of stressing out, I found out yesterday that I'm in. Yeah!!! I'm really excited! I'm starting in Summer 08.

Just a little "go me". I had a bad day eating yesterday (Halloween candy, trip through the drive thru while trick or treating). But I did my workout so I guess not all is lost. And today I stayed within the range on almost all the levels on the nutrition tracker! I was low on Calcium, but I'll take a vitamin tonight to fill in the gap.

Still can't get motivated to do the strength training, but I'm moving in the right direction.

Yeah Beth, you are doing great with your weight loss, congrats!!

My first 60 min run last night, it is my longest run to date, granted it was on an inside track at the gym and not outside. I'm not sure of mileage, but I'll take it's anywhere from 5-6 miles.
