Happy Saturday, everyone! Wanted to check in and report that I made my goal this week of exercising at least three times. Although my eating habits weren't the greatest, most days this week I was able to stay within my calories and not feel deprived. Trying to ignore my inner fat girl who wants me to keep eating.....

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

I love the Biggest Loser.....even though what they do there is unrealistic. Its still awesome to see the weight fall off. And I really enjoy seeing the follow ups and commercials with those who actually kept the weight off once they get back to reality.

Hi all! Well, I am new to the team, but not to SP. Although it has been quite some time since I've been here. I have realized that the only way I am going to be successful is to stay encouraged and motivated. One way to do that is to take this weight loss journey with friends. So here goes... emoticon

congrats on kickboxing and eating out successfully!! I went on vacation and was good for the first week, but the second week was BAD!!! when I returned, I was simply not motivated to continue watching what I ate. The good news - I only gained 3 pounds! The bad news - I feel miserable! So, I am getting back on the wagon!! Wish me luck!! emoticon

wow! quiet in here. No one has posted since I last did.

I had an epidural injection 3 day ago and I think maybe it is going to actually help this itme. After the stiffness & soreness of the shot goes away I'll be able to tell better. I took another day off from the Y, but I have all intent & purpose of going back tomorrow. Was going to, today, but my back is still kind of sore & tender, pulling & muscle tightness (about a 3 on the pain scale) so thought it best to wait another day.

I've stayed busy around the house, washing dishes (dishwasher), a few loads of laundry, unpacked several bags & a big box of stuff we brought home from MILs house (still tons more to go!)...made some cranberry pineapple mini-muffins & as soon as I post in my other group..am going to make some molasses cookies. 2 of the grandkids will be staying the w/e so I want a healthy snack (besides expensive fruit!) for them to eat while they're here. And sometimes between now & then, I'll be making a double batch (low sodium) mexican cornbread to go with an enchilada casserole (not low sodium!)...it's really not too bad, just 390gms sodium for 'X' amt...I would have to look at the recipe to see the serving size and I don't have it here in front of me. But sitll...that's half the amt of sodium I take in for a day!

I still have a sink full of dishes to stick in the dishwasher (more stuff from MILs), the flour, sugar & coffee cannisters to wash out. I decided since all 3 were almost empty...I just tossed it out and starting fresh (for my baking). Need to get a few more loads of laundry done & clean off the kitchen table and the bench I'm sitting on. I've got my own little hoard going on here. LOL. The area around me looks like a rats nest. ROFL. I also promised myself, since I didn't go to the Y, that I would dig the excercise bike out of the closet & use the bar bells and do a mini excercise session.

gonna go check my other group. Hope to see more posting next time I visit! have a good day.

Anna

Good Afternoon all.

Wanted to re-introduce myself. I joined around a yr or so ago, had a hard time staying on track with tracking everything, was having major anxiety issue & pain issues so I basically gave up. My trips to SP became further and further between until I just gave up all pretense of thinking about coming here.

But now I'm back and back with a vengence. I found a new dr. One who seems like she really does care, she put me on the proper meds for all my dx and I am doing wonderful (well..wonderful except for this unending pain). She also put me on a low sodium diet and while 90% of the time I do wonderful with it...I have a hard time getting enough calories while staying within range! So I made up a super duper smoothie full of 5 fruits, 3 veggies, yogurt, cal-c-tose, light soy milk (she also discovered my allergy to dairy & lactose!), and sometimes I'll even throw in some no salt added sunflower seed and/or pinenuts, an energy or protein bar, low sodium peanut butter...I'll put just about anything in it that's low sodium. LOL. It runs me around 200mg sodium & anywhere from 800-1500 cals...depending on what I add to it. FINALLY! Getting those much needed calories in. I must say it really surprised me to discover I wasn't getting enough calories! That was the complete opposite of what my problem had been of getting too many cals!

I'm a stay at home wife, not by choice but by disability. and truth be told...i really don't mind it. In fact I love being a stay at home wife. Now if I could just get rid of this TBI & the arthritis pain...I'd be in hog heaven. LOL.

I have been posting regularly in the People with Disability group almost daily for around 6 wks now so thought it time I venture out into a few of the other groups I had joined during my last stay @ SP.

Nice to meet you all and look forward to learning more about you! (I also have dyslexia and it shows in my typing so bare with me on this...I don't alway catch the typos).

Good morning! I have just joined this team a few weeks ago and I have been really bad about getting online and posting. I have also been bad about not tracking my food and exercise and it is showing in I am going up in weight and not down. I need to get out and do more and track everything. I think I am finally over myself and I hope next week I will be able to post a loss. I weigh in on Wednesday mornings because I open the YMCA at 5am on Wednesdays and for 30 minutes I am able to weigh myself before anyone gets here. I wish I were allowed to work out during that time too but I am not. I think though I am going to start coming in at 5am the M-F and work out and then on Wednesday night do my work out then. We will see how it works.

Good morning sparklers!

Not much action going on here ... must be summer time!!!!

So, I am going to be a gramma....probably around end of Feb to mid-March. DSD is making me a gramm, and DD is making me a mother-in-law.... wow. What a month it has been.

I haven't been doing much exercise ... bad me. I will try to get back on track. My BF was diagnosed with heart disease, so we are going over her diet changes and figuring how we can both benefit from this awful diagnosis. We will triump ... wish us luck.

Have a great day all!

Carmel I love your new pic ... nice hair! you look FAB!

I did stop at the gym on my way home and did 5 minutes on the elliptical (have to start from scratch again) 20 on the bike and 7 on the treadmill. Yay me!

My knees are really aching now, but I will pop and advil and hit the sack.

My youngest DD is on a school trip to Niagra Falls. She called me for all of 1 minute to ask if she could take an advil because her feet hurt from all the stuff they were doing So I guess she made it there alright! LOL She will be home tomorrow night. I was up at 5:30 to bring her to the school to catch the bus for 6ish.

Hope you recovery goes well with your ankle! I have to have surgery on my knee again to repair my torn ACL but I don't want to get that done until I can get a handle of my weight.

I am hitting the sack kiddies. Have a great night all.

Hi Everyone,

I've been away for a few weeks. Got through my daughter's graduation and Open House, and then had my ankle surgery a week ago. Still on pain meds, but I'm not as wiped out as I was last week. My ankle surgery didn't go as planned. The morning of the surgery my doctor came in, and told me that he'd been reviewing my file all weekend, and he wanted permission to break my leg if he needed to. So in the end he basically restructurered my whole ankle. He took out the hardware, broke the bone, put two new plates and screws in, along with lengthening my achilleas tendon. I'm non-weight bearing for 6 weeks now instead of the original 2 I was planning. The change in my ankle surgery means that I won't be having my hernia repair surgery as planned since my hernia doctor wanted me up and walking before I could have that surgery. At this point, I have no idea when I'll be scheduling that surgery. I need to get back to work at some point.

So obviously I'm not doing much with sparkpeople these days, but I thought I'd check in really quick.

G'd Morning...

Lynn-sounds like you have a plan set for the week--which is great...

Had my DD's baby shower on Saturday and it was great! funny she didn't get things like bottle brushes ect...but got lots of diapers and wipes...she'll be set for a little while...

The sun is finally shining today...suppose to be a good week into the weekend...

Busy day for us here at work...farm to family coupons are in and they are coming to get them...

Best get back to work!

Happy Sunday all!

Last night we went to the community outdoor rink and watch fireworks and had a nice night. Our township celebrated Canada Day a week early so everyone could enjoy the festivities, as most people go away for the weekend of Canada Day.

Today, we went strawberry picking at the local strawberry farm ... yum!!!! We picked 2 four quart baskets and one is already gone! We also picked a 2 quart one for my mom. I will see her tomorrow at lunch and bring it to her then.

I have decided that I will hit the gym on my way home from work each night and do 30 minutes on the treadmill this week, just to get me started on track again.

have a great night all and keep posting!

Lynn

Hey all! I'm baaaaaaaaack! Hahaha.....kind of like a bad penny that way....I just keep coming back!

Lynn- that is awesome news of the engagement! And, what a good motivator for you to get back on track. I'm sure your daughter would be proud of her mother-of-the bride at any weight, but imagine how gooooood you will feel when you get to where you are happy---for her! And, as we ALL know, coming back here, posting, and being active is definitely the biggest key to success! I know you can do it! Now that you've got some people in your corner.....GET IN THE RING!

Liz- welcome! Glad to see that you too have realized that coming back here will get you the results you desire. It CAN be done! I think we have all struggled from time to time, and sometimes it's been a long spiral. But, the key is, to get yourself out of the swirl, and start that swim back to the top of your game! We're all here to support.

Now, I have only stopped in to "peep" a few times here and there lately because of the challenge team. But, even I will commit to be here more, if everyone else is back and committed to working toward our goals together! We have SO much to share with each other, we can truly make the changes we need!

My trip to Cedar Point was so totally awesome! I rode, and rode, and rode some more! I mean, we literally entered the park, took a potty break, and hit the coasters.....one after another, for 8 hours straight! The day was perfect temps, there was very, very short lines, and we just used the map to get to each and every one by the quickest route. We never stopped to eat, or to go to the bathroom, or to even get anything to drink...for the whole 8 hours! Then, we left the park to discover that the seagulls had "peppered" every car in the lot with their droppings. I had just hand-washed my car before we left. BUT.....lo and behold!......not ONE dropping on my car! COOL. On the way home, we stopped to a mom-n-pops mexican restaraunt and had a good meal. But then.....as we neared home, we hit a deer! Uggggh.....*almost* a perfect day/trip. My new car! My friend was pretty upset, as he was driving, but it was unavoidable, I was not upset at all, and I have full coverage. The car was damaged yes, but still drivable, and I had such a wonderful time....even that was not gonna bring me down! And, a week later, it still hasn't. I will be getting it fixed in the next couple days, and only have $250 deductible, and they will give me a rental. All good to me! So, I have decided I MUST go back again, before this season ends! I had so much fun. Unfortunately, my friend won't be able to go, as he will be leaving for Kuwait in early August.

Ok, so that's my quick update....and, I hope to be back again soon!
(why is it that I always seem to stop in here the day before I have to work 2 days next??? Makes it hard to be consistent with posting! Hmmmm.....gonna have to work on that!)

Good evening Spark Peeps!

So glad to see you back Carmel! Way to go!

I have some news to share .... my oldest daughter got engaged on Saturday!!! I am happy for her. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, they have set a date in May of 2013 ............sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, that gives me 2 years to jump back on teh wagon and get all this excess baggage gone!!!!

I will try to be on here more. I am going to start by tracking on a more regular basis. I have to start eating properly. I had just given and now it is time to jump back on and get some gumption back.

So, I will try to post more and keep up with everyone. Have a great night all!

G'd Morning....

Liz-we all go thru that and the best thing you did was admit it and are turning things around. Life itself can get stressful and can be a road block now and then, we just need to pick ourselves up and start back at it...it's the past...

Another sunny day here...all packed for camping. All I have to do is get some food for the weekend and pick up a gift for a surprise 50th b-day party tomorrow night.

Ok need to get these papers/files/notes off my desk! Have a good day and weekend!

Woo-Hoo Carmel! Great job! It's nice to see those losses happening....kinda keeps the momentum going!

Oh Kim, I am envious! I just LOVE Pampered Chef! I have many of the pieces, and do believe I should have more! Oh well, maybe once I move, I'll host my own party and reap some of the bennies of being a host! We haven't had anyone around here have one in a while, so perhaps I may just have a good turnout. Gonna have to try to remember that though.

The BLC is keeping me on my toes, and much too much busy than I really have time for. But, in the end, I always seem to fit everything in. I do so love the challenge, but remember how happy I always was to see them come to an end too! I think there is still 4 more weeks left of this one. Then a little break until the next one starts in September (I think!). By then, I'll probably be ready for another one!

I have been "training" already for my 10K that is in September. I have been working on consistently doing the distance so far, and not worrying much about my time. Don't get me wrong....I still pay attention to time, I'm just not doing much to decrease it at this point. Would be kind of senseless, as I have been training only on these hills out here, and have not ventured to a more flatter, more race-like course. Still....I feel pretty good about my time anyway. You know, I have that brain problem that prevents me from running (no, I haven't worked that out yet), and a LOT of the women on the BLC team are runners. But, I figured my walking time against their running times.....and, I walk as fast as some of them run! That's not to take anything away from them, it's just saying that I must be doing pretty good cardio-wise with my walking! And, I only can get better.....IF I can just get myself off these dang hills!!!! lol

I am down a bit being on the team, but the biggest difference I've seen? I've lost over 12 inches!!! That is a huge difference! I do still have a couple of "problem" areas I'm working on, but I'm chiselling away...bit by bit. Still haven't found that 6-pack beneath the keg, but at least the keg has shrunk.....right down to....a pony keg????

Good to see you back Kim! Hope to see more of ya here too. Well, I have to work tomorrow and Tues, so I'm sure I won't be back then. Then, on Wednesday, I get to go to Cedar Point (amusement park) with my bestie. I am SOOOO excited to be going, as this park is very well known for the most, the biggest, the highest, fastest roller coasters...in the world (I think). Should google it, and "ride" some of them....they have some pretty good videos of the coaster rides. I am a roller coaster fanatic, and I haven't been there in, I bet it's been 25 yrs! It's a bummer too, cuz it's just 2 hours away from me! My DS has dared me to ride a couple, saying no way would I......but, guess he just doesn't know his momma that well! They haven't built one yet that I wouldn't go on! Good thing is, my bestie is the exact same way! Woo-HOO.....look out!

Ok, well, work comes early, so i'd better get some shut-eye. Just wanted to say Hi again, and am hoping to be back again REAL soon!

Karen

G'd Morning...

It's good to see you all! YES I too have been away for awhile, BUT not because of TBLC...just because...

I've gained some weight back and haven't felt the best...I know there are missing pieces...TRACKING, POSTING--ACCOUNTABILITY! I was/am slacking in those area and need to get back to where I was...

I've started tracking and being accountable and now I need to post atleast once a day...

Yesterday was the Relay For Life, I USE to be big into it and this past year I stepped down...after 6 yrs I couldn't do it anymore...HOWEVER I did participate in walking. I walked 2 hrs and loved every bit of it! Left in between to meet up with a very close friend to have supper and then went back down to walk off my spinach and cheese calzone...WHICH I will track...

Going to a Pampered Chef party so I need to go get ready...

Have a good day!

Hi all!
I see some new faces here, and some old, but fondly remembered one's too! Unfortunately, I have been away from here due to the BLC team I'm on.....as I feared, it takes up way too much of my time! I knew that would happen, as it always does. But, it's only for a few more weeks, then there's a break until the next one starts. The good news is that I am losing quite regularly, and good amounts too! So, I guess that makes it all worthwhile!

Well, just wanted to pop in and give a "HI", and hope to be back again real soon!

Hello! Haven't made a post in a really long time and have come to realize, even though you hear it all the time, that it is to my disadvantage not to post. I am improving after my ankle surgery and PT. Doc said to get a treadmill since though the bike is good for cardio it doesn't do anything for endurance on that foot. Posted on Facebook that I needed one but didn't have the money in my budget and an old high school friend has offered me one that was collecting dust in her garage...YAY! I am feeling blessed and hope you all have had a good week and are planning an even better weekend! emoticon

I'm doing a virtual Walk (ride) Across America at exercise.lbl.gov . This site provides free online tools to encourage you to keep walking, running or cycling. They have designed a free transcontinental virtual trip across the United States. Each time you enter your mileage, they add it to your total and show you a picture of what you would see if you had been traveling from Yorktown, Virginia to Florence, Oregon.

I started a team called Sparklers...come join us!

Kim - I know what you mean. My oldest is graduating on Monday, too. And its just been a whirlwind of emotional events. From her last concert to senior awards and desserts last Tuesday. Now I have next week off to get everything ready for her party on Saturday.

I've been trying track my food every day. Which usually goes pretty good when I'm at work, but I'm not getting on in the evenings much anymore, so I'm playing catch up the next day. I've just been so frustrated because I'm not able to exercise like I was, and all of the stress lately steers me towards foods like chocolate.

I'm not giving up or anything. I'm just not being perfect right now.

I hear ya on the tracking Carmel! I've gone back to on line tracking instead of paper tracking and doing much better! Not sure why there's a difference, but I can see it already!

This is graduation weekend...prom was last night, we are heading to a ball game tonight and then a function tomorrow and Sunday night and then graduation on Monday...

MY BABY IS GRADUATING! SNIFF SNIFF!

Ok almost time for me to leave work...getting out early to get things done and then to the ball game we go!

Oh well!
Thanks for the welcome back, Kim!!
I really messed up last weekend and having been paying for it until today!! I had gained 1.2 lbs and wasn't tracking my food!! I started back at healthier eating on Monday, I think!! But still not tracking. Today, I am back down to 274.0 lbs and tracking again!! :-)
I am going to try to take my dog for a walk and maybe do a little gardening today for a bit of exercise!!
Well, gotta go do some housework.
I hope you all have a great day!!

Just dropping in to say, "HEY!!"
I started tracking my nutrition today for the first time in ages!! I'm back to measuring things and paying attention to what I put in my mouth! I feel enthused, encouraged and energized!!!!
I watched Oprah today and saw an audience full of 100 lb losers!! So inspiring!! It made me think, "If they can do it ... then I can do it too!!!!!!"
Hope everyone is having a great week so far!
Remember ... Y'all R-O-C-K!!!!

Have a great night! emoticon emoticon

Well I finally had my appointment with the surgeon to discuss my hernia. Its official. She told me to walk only for exercise. Nothing is set surgery wise, because I have to get through my daughter's graduation and open house first. So I see the doctor again in June, and then decide how I'm going to go about all of these surgeries I need.

Thanks for the encouragement, but I don't think attempting to do pilates with a hernia was a good idea. I don't know what happened, but I came home from work on Tuesday, started a load of laundry, started dinner, and by the end of dinner being done my hernia was hurting so bad I had to take a Vicodin with dinner. So I didn't do any exercise on Tuesday. I'm thinking I may just stick with walking for exercise until I at least see the hernia doctor to find out what I should and should not be doing.

Hahaha! Getitgone4, I sure hope you get your iPod shuffle for mother's day! That was so cute! Keep up with the pilates. It is hard at first but keep at it even if you don't feel like you are doing it right. The more you do it the stronger you will get and you will be amazed with yourself! The first couple of times I did pilates I thought " there is NO way my body will do this!" but I did! And I got better! I love that it makes me feel so strong! Hang in there!! You're doing great!

So I joined the Official Spring Into Shape Bootcamp Challenge. Oh my! It said that anyone can do it. I must say that it would probably be a lot easier if I was a lot lighter.

The 1st day was good, but the 2nd day was pilates. The videos are only 10 minutes long. So imagine me laying on the floor attempting to do these exercises, with 3 teenagers telling me the whole time how wrong I'm doing them.

I told them that for Mother's Day I want an ipod shuffle, so that I don't have to listen to them.

Looking forward to getting back at the weight-loss thing and chatting with y'all!!

I don't know what's more difficult. Easter? Or the day after Easter when there is still candy in the house, but I've vowed to be good today . . . . .
