I have two mornings under my belt with plain coffee. It wasn't fun or even soothing. My dh told me I should just go ahead and have some cream in my coffee just like always, but I am determined to lose the cream. I know I should lose the coffee too, I'm thinking on that one.
I am so excited about this weight loss journey! I began slowly last spring after my doctor told me I was soon to be a diabetic if I didn't lose some serious weight. A diabetes prevention program gave me a huge boost last fall and spark people has helped me to continue in earnest.
I have been reading about clean eating for awhile and have decided to make changes in my eating to make it more healthy, not just fewer calories and fats. Today is the first day I'm not using a non dairy creamer in my coffee. I notice it tastes good, but I'm not drinking it very fast. I can see that this will be one of those "good for me" changes! Thank you for all of the tips you share on here!
In her book (Eat Clean Diet) Tosca Reno does state that as coffee & tea are diuretics they deplete the body of extra water, vitamins & minerals & it's usually recommended that they are given up. She also says she's NOT giving up her coffee, she just drinks it black & skips the cream. I eat clean & I drink coffee & tea (with soy milk & sucanat) occasionally. Organic/free-trade is always a good way to go. More $$ but somehow tastes better...:) And yes, this is along the line of whole food eating...but for some reason this clean eating thing feels different. Great recipes in the book & magazine, don't feel deprived. Honey & agave nectar are 2 of the natural sweeteners used in some of the recipes. I do eat dark chocolate on occasion--just a small bit, and it's also used in some of the recipes. Like most of us, you probably know your trigger foods & it's best to avoid them for now. I will say I don't have cravings like I used to. And if I do, I usually can't stomach (literally) whatever non-clean snack I try to eat. Yes, it's a good thing. And yes, I've lost lbs. doing this. But I'm also exercising, so there you go. Sorry such a long reply. Hope it helps!
