I don't know if all grocery stores carry this, but the one I work at (in Onalaska, WI) does ... we only get 2 or 3 copies a month though. I always buy one issue of a mag and see if I like it, then go to their website and if I like what I see, I subscribe. Saves a lot of money. Eating Well, Experience Life, and Vegetarian Times (and I'm not vegetarian) are other really good magazines, by the way. www.eatingwell.com www.experiencelifemag.com www.vegetariantimes.com I know the Experience Life mag has an online version (save the earth!) that's having a free trial right now, and has archives of all past articles and recipes! I wonder if Eating Clean has the same ... to find that broccoli chicken recipe? I'm gonna zip to their website and see, that sounds YUMMY!!
I just made the Sanccocho (sp?) soup from the latest issue and it was great. I used all organic chicken broth rather than 1/2 broth & 1/2 water as the recipe called for. If anyone has the first Oxygen Clean Eating Collector's Edition from January 2007, there is a chicken broccoli alfredo that is fabulous. I grate a little fresh nutmeg into it for BIG flavor. I do find that there are a few ingredients in the magazine that don't seem clean to me (Nesquick powder, pudding mix, & prepared salad dressings, for instance), but since I don't eat 100% clean it's not a big deal for me. My favorite part of the magazine are the snack ideas. That has helped a lot, since I love to snack!
"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." -Ralph Waldo Emerson
They that hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar as with eagles' wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint. Isaiah 40:31
OMG! I'm so glad to find this Team! I just started eating clean, then found "Clean Eating" magazine and bought my first one (at Wal-Mart of all places!). It has some really yummy recipes and I am a veggie, so sometimes I just modify for the foods I don't want. It gives you several weeks of meal planning, again some I don't like (I'll never like yogurt!) - but I take what I like and leave the rest. I like the idea of sharing the food questions here. I'll also help out if I can. julie
So now that people have subscribed and gotten their mags in - what do you all think?
And for the vegan and vegetarians in the bunch - you can always make recipies vegan by switching out the animal based products with vegan friendly alternatives (chicken broth with vegetable broth), etc. etc.
I got my first issue today! I like it. The pictures are nice, and the recipes look yummy. I have tried a variation of the chocolate pancakes that they list, and I LOVE it! I have served it for friends and family, and they can't tell that they are not regular pancakes. Fun stuff!
