I'm thankful for all of the people that haven't given up on me like most people have. I'm also thankful for having such a great family ( even though we fight at times ) I'm also grateful for pets ( i have a dog and cat. ) They both make me smile every single day :)

Ouch!!!! I hear you my friend, it is far worse for the other person.......learnt my lesson the hard way too, now I do DH medication myself and I make sure he takes it but then I'm not there during the day to watch his sugar intake...a big NO for my DH on or off medication.

... that DH is taking his anti-depressants again... {{{WHEW!}}}
While renewing DH's medications today, I remembered how difficult it was in March and April dealing with DH's difficult moods - I cried myself to sleep some nights. When I learned in May that he had stopped taking his anti-depressant - WHY? - just because, he said, he wanted to...
It was like a giant light bulb lit up! DH didn't want to admit it, but suddenly all his strange, hurtful behavior made perfect sense. I told him, you WILL start taking it again... and within a couple of weeks, he was noticably different. Now, I can even say, he's "him" again, Thank God ~ !

Knowing that all I have to do is call or text, and DD will soon be in touch to offer support!

Thank you, Hannah! My Mom was an amazing woman, wife and mother; I often comfort myself by remembering how she dealt with the ups and downs of Life. Those of us who have/had good Moms and/or Dads are Truly Blessed!
Some days I feel like I'm barely able to handle ONE MORE THING... I begin to lose hope, but then I think: whatever happens, I'll be okay. I don't have to run a mile, keep a perfect house, or even finish every task on my list...
All I "have" to do is what I can do at that moment. I tell myself: do one task - make one good choice - and then I try to make another. Whether I end up accomplishing a lot or nothing at all, I know I can hang on one more day!
As predicted, Life is settling down now that DH is feeling better; it was a long haul, but we made it. I even made it through a boring, frustrating day of jury duty today, and I'm ready for fun with Kaile tomorrow!!! Don't know how "awake" I'll be, but I'll give it my best shot...
I AM THANKFUL for being alive; for being able to share my life with loved ones, and for being cared for and safe.

I made it through another day!
Another super busy day: took DH in for a recheck and breathing treatment, then an Ortho follow-up. Had GD Kaile from after school until her bedtime – we cleaned the car – plus, I started laundry and dishes this evening.
And tomorrow, we do it all again (see Dialysis nurse instead of Ortho appt). Happily this translates into a LOT of cardio-level exercise; so even if my body is tired and sore, my mind is saying, “WOO HOO!”

Oh my, I'm tired... Right now, I’m working on these personal challenges: dealing with the additional demands on my limited physical abilities and shaky mental state as I take care of DH through the pneumonia, the healing of the broken bone in his foot, and the requirements of his daily dialysis and continuing complications from the kidney failure... and remembering to take the time to enjoy having my DH with me!

I'm VERY thankful that the social worker at DH's Dialysis Center has been willing to spend one-on-one time with me for counseling. We just met a second time, and it's a GREAT HELP! (It's supposed to be the Caretakers' Support Group, but I'm the only one who's been coming.)

Also on a Health issue but here in UK I am VERY thankful for our national Health System No. it's not perfect but what Is ? Its always been there for us when we needed it. This week my dh is on a week of medical checks of one sort or another. From ECG to a free eye test. We take our health for granted but at times we all need help I am so thankful ours is free. It is paid for by all workers paying a weekly contribution. The Govt. tops that up from taxes. My dh paid in for years now is reaping the benefit. Irene

I am VERY THANKFUL that me being sick (only a bad cold) - and especially with DH being SO ill, needing daily treatment and tons of medication - we will be (and are) okay financially. No worrying about sick days, or trying to work when we feel like doo-doo because we can't miss a paycheck.
After my brain and spinal injury, when my (now ex) husband abandoned me and the kids, I struggled to keep working, and pay the most necessary bills; then after I couldn't work anymore, it was even harder. I remember DD being SO angry at me for selling our furniture piece by piece for groceries, and selling my grandmother's silver to pay health insurance premiums.
The stress of that mindset didn't leave me for a long time, even after DH and I married, and his excellent job provided for us all. Now when I sit down to pay our monthly bills, I know I'll be able to "meet those ends"... and have extra for an occasional trip and to do things with the grandkids!

I have lots to be thankful for, especially family, friends and my Sparks friends who keep me going. I am doing a personal review of past year now and what changes to make for 2012. One change is NOT to weigh in daily. Yes I still do that. It depresses me most day so I thought why let myself get depressed daily. I am aiming for an end of year weigh in now. Then maybe weekly, with the next step being monthly I need to accept numbers on a scale is not the main issue. Hapy New year to all. Irene

... even though it's been a stress-filled time, I've been able to hang on through the worst of my temptations, and work "special treats" into my food plans. That stability is refected in more consistancy in my weigh-ins, and improving health conditions. If I continue on as I have these last few weeks, I'll end 2011 at my lowest Spark weight so far!

For my wonderful DH, and for how much he loves and respects me!
Best wishes for a Wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving holiday, no matter what your plans are.
It is what you make of it: for example, I am going to my DH’s ex-wife’s house for Thanksgiving dinner… It was supposed to be at DH’s DD’s home, but she just started a new job, sooooooo…
Long, long, long story of what happened recently – I’ll skip that – which made it awkward and strained between the ex-wife and me. However, I am determined to NOT let it keep me from “our” family.

Every day I give thanks for the usual top of list things, Freedom, Faith, Family, friends, home etc. But now I give thanks for my mind.! I see so many in my age group starting to get confused and forgetful. I am so grateful that mine is as sharp as ever.It has to be as i often have to think for 2 of us now!

I'm thankful to be able to believe in God (the Trinity) and express that belief. To have a loving family, and live in a country where I feel free and safe. These are just a few of the things I'm thankful for, but these top my list.

Since it is Thanksgiving Week here in the US, I thought I'd ask:
What are YOU thankful for?
For me, it's being able to feel happy about and look forward to the holidays, when I once thought I'd never be able to handle the emotions of Thanksgiving and Christmas again.
