What a great idea Joy! I apologize for not remembering that our leaders are our Canadian neighbors *blush*. I'm sorry for having left you out :(

I have an important correction. It was brought to my attention that the website snope reported that anything sent the way I had shown to, will be discarded due to security.

In response to the problem, the Red Cross set up a sorting site to handle the situation. They will sort for security and for content.

Instead of the address I had posted, please instead mail to:

We Support You During Your Recovery!
C/O American Red Cross
PO Box 419
Savage, MD 20763-0419

Thank you :)

Even if you are on the right track you will get run over if you just sit there.

What a nice thought.

I found the following informaiton at canada.gc.ca for any fellow Canadians that would like to show support for our Peace Keepers.

"5 December 2007

News Release

Write to the troops, no packages please

Canadians have indicated a desire to do something for Canadian Forces members deployed on missions around the world. This outpouring of support and generosity is very much appreciated. Canadians should take note, however, that the CF re-supply system cannot handle care packages addressed to “Any CF member” for a variety of reasons, including security and volume.

Postcards and letters addressed to “Any CF member” are acceptable but, unfortunately, parcels cannot be delivered and will be returned to sender. A list of mailing addresses as well as detailed postal information for CF operations is available on the http://www.forces.gc.ca website.

Family and friends of deployed military personnel are invited to explore the http://www.canadapost.ca website to learn about their program of postage-free mailings to deployed military members.

One way in which Canadians can express their support is by e-mail messages on the forces web site http://www.forces.gc.ca. The “Write to the troops” message board is one of the preferred methods to show support.

For a variety of other ways to show support to the troops, visit the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency’s website at http://www.cfpsa.com/supportourtroops."

This isn't a weight loss challenge. However, I think that we will all agree that we are all about self improvement. We are all here in support of each other.

I wanted to share this as I prepared to write my card tonight. I hope that you will join me by adding just one card to your list.

"When you are making your Christmas Cards out this year, please consider adding one card to your list to be sent to the address below. If you agree pass this on to your friends. A Great Idea!!! One more card surely won't hurt. When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following:

A Recovering American soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20307-5001 "

I came across it on a board. I no longer remember where. I just kept it tucked aside to send. I hope it's ok that I shared it here.

Thank you!

karen
