I did reach my yoga goal for the month, finished this week with yoga each day, Mon-Thurs, so I did make it to 18/18. I've been keeping up with my daily meditation as well, so, even thought I missed my goal of daily meditation this month, I'm happy with the practice I have there! The couple of times I missed were pretty much unavoidable!

I missed 2 days of meditation while I was away, on day we were climbing, and got back to camp very late....so I just went to sleep, and yesterday the day just slipped away, we drove home, and took our friend out to dinner last night, and again, the day just got away from me.

But I did get in some yoga practices while away, I did 2 yoga downloads in camp, 11,12/18, one yoga practice at the ranger station in Mammont, 13/18, a short self-guided yoga yesterday before dinner, 14/18, and another longer self guided practice this afternoon, 15/18.

I also listend to day 2 of the Osho meditation, I missed day 1 it seems...but should be able to listen to the rest of the series, if all goes well!

Hi everyone, interesting Yoga practices and meditations for some.

Back from Schaumburg, driving for two days 14 and 15, back into my routine little by little my freezer broke while we were away, a lot of frost by the door, defrosting and cleaning, time consuming. Some restorative short practices, very useful to focus!

I listened to Day 12 this morning, I think it was around 10 minutes, and just finished an afternoon self-guided yoga, about 24 minutes, with about 9 minutes of that savasana...so nice!

It's quite cold here in the middle of the States for July so I was tempted to crawl deeper under the covers when my alarm went off. So glad I got up and practiced yoga. Got some great pointers and compliments from my teacher about my assisted hand stand.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

Away from home in Schaumburg,IL .Finally after two days driving I could swim and do Yoga yesterday. It took 2 days to drive from Pearland/Houston to Chicago/Schaumburg. The landscape was beautiful. Forests, corn/sorghum fields and the great Mississippi!!! Beautiful country of ours!

Hope everyone is doing FINE!!!

July 12: 4/15 My own home practice, mainly sun salutations A and B,warriors 1 and 2, side angle pose,triangle,revolved triangle, the needle, half moon and one leg up downward dog repeat the sequence for about 15 min

July 13: 5/15 My own home practice, same as yesterday, standing poses, feeling good.

I also signed-up for the meditation challenge

Sorry to hear you have back pain CAROLJEAN, walking meditation is gooooodddd! right now because there are so many new things around me, my mind is engaged in taking it all, so no going inside, I'll try breathing techniques to calm it down along the day, this is going to be my 3rd day here so not new plans ahead but to wait for the Dash-Con to close in the afternoon then relax I hope....hope.....

I'll try Visualization too, good point CAROLJEAN and CONFIDENTLYFIT!

Hope your hamstrings are not so sore today KAYOTIC! How is your wrist?

Visualizing your practice can actually make a difference. Last summer I had to stop practice for three weeks because of an injury. I visualized my practice almost every day and I was able to restart without any problems. It only took about 10-12 practices to regain my previous status. I do practice on average 4-5 times a week.

I must have an intermittent pop-up blocker, as sometimes that box comes up fine, other times I have to keep trying!

The answer from SP technical support:

Sorry you are having trouble with that. When you click the "Track Goal" button, does it open the "Other Goals" page? Is it the type goal where you click the little plus sign to open a window where you enter your minutes? If that is what you are describing and that last window is blank, it sounds like you may have a pop-up blocker that is interfering with that window. If you use a pop-up blocker, make sure you enable popups from SparkPeople.com. This allows you to get greater functionality and use all of the tools the site has to offer.

Going to early AM practice in summer is such a different experience. In the winter I go in the dark and come home in the dark. Now I go as the day is dawning and it is full day when I return.
BTW, I am having trouble on the "other goals" tracker. Can't get the practice yoga option to load. Anyone else having a problem?

Interesting way of breathing in the yoga pose, could you explain a bit more, do you always count to ten and then breath out KAYOTIC?

I hear you, BigPoppa, my wrist is still troubling me too....but my injury is more recent. Just need to give it time to heal, I suppose, but it still sucks!

I did the bonus day 6 meditation this morning, 8 minutes or so. Then a self-guided yoga in the meadow up at Mt Rose Summit, over 8,000 feet, pretty flowers, cooler temps (it was mid 70s up there) and I followed the meditation process during my yoga, it was count up to 10, 1, breathe in, 2 breathe out, up to 10 then 10 breathe in, 9 breathe out, back down to 1. I did that for each yoga pose. Very relaxing and mindful... 4/18

did a 12 minute meditation this morning, Reveal Inner Wisdom from the Healing Rhythms meditations series. yesterday I was able to do 3/18 self guided yoga, I did tree pose, dolphin (instead of downward facing dog) to keep the pressure off my wrist....then mostly went to a seated/lying practice, got in around 22 minutes including savasana...

It's funny, CarolJean, sometimes I will get that from one drink too, I guess mostly ones I'm not used to, or if I drink them too fast....I will usually have a glass of wine with dinner, but every now and again, that glass goes right to my head!

Day 3 meditation, I did 2/18 yoga yesterday when I got home, 21 minutes with a focus on downward facing dog.

Didn't do my practice this morning. The more yoga I practice and the more I listen to my body, the more it tells me about what it will allow me to do and not to do. DH and I went out for dinner last night at a local Mexican place that has a great chicken soup I love. Margaritas were on a special and I decided to have one. I drink very little, maybe once a month or so. However, this morning when my alarm buzzed for yoga, my head was splitting and the idea of putting my head down made my stomach flip. Essentially I had a hangover on one drink. So not more alcohol.... at least tequila.
I did end up going to afternoon practice and am still sitting here cooling down.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

2 days of meditation this month, going strong! (I did day 5 of the Healing Rhythms meditation, Cultivate Positive Emotions)

1/18 yoga, yesterday with a self guided practice. I should be able to get in a practice this afternoon when I get home as well.

Ok. I'll go for it.
I will challenge myself to complete two yoga practices each week.
Because I have already made walking, swimming and strength training commitments, I will allow my two to be anything 20 minutes or more, and they may be evening relaxation programs with meditation, or a easy morning stretch class.
I appreciate this July challenge. It will help my recognize that any practice helps me calm and center my soul.

My goal is 5 GSP practices a week including meditation at the end. First practice of the month was today. However, since this is a holiday weekend, the studio will not be open on Friday and Saturday. I think I will either practice at home on Friday morning or will go to another studio on Saturday.

I'm going for daily meditation, and 18 yoga practices this month.

Started off this morning with a meditation from Healing Rhythms, Release Physical Tension, 12 minutes.

MY GOAL FOR JULY IS 12 to 15 PRACTICES OF YOGA AND MEDITATION. I'll be traveling for a week, so I don't know exactly how it will work.

15 minutes minimum for a Yoga practice and 10 minutes minimum for a Meditation practice, my own, dvds and downloads.
