I seem to be alternating lengthy cardio dance (bhangra-ish, zumba-ish low impact) with short 5 rhythms ones ...

My glucometer tests are even lower than I was expecting ... 100 a.m. fasting 2 days in a row so far ... A little lower than I like, but I've my reasons for that yet can't complain. My doctor likes my numbers overall.

I have a job interview coming up on Monday.

Still do meditation every night so I could get to sleep. But no yoga asana practice for the past ... 8 days?

May 28: 25/20 day 14 In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the White Tara is honored as the door to eternity, the door to the Pure Land of light. As I absorb the mantra, I consciously breathe in pure white light. The voices of the monk, resonate in my brain at the end of the meditation, like a hammer .....I'll try later in the day....much better this second time after my yoga practice.

I do look forward - in the future - to doing the mild therapeutic hatha yoga of J. Brown from time to time, as time permits ...

I did used to do yoga around here.

Now, I need the supreme stressbuster (for me), which is cardio.

So far, so good with my numbers ... but they really should be more stable by July.
Only cardio (counterintuitively) has enabled me to regain wasted-away weight. Although my aunt told me I sure don't look skinny to her, my other aunt's family was shocked at my appearance (this is post- a piddling weight regain.) Such is family for ya ...

Ideally, the cardio should have been step aerobics ... but my feet had used up most of its chances ... and that particular discipline had done my feet in.

And I am glad to be checking in around here from time to time ...

Back from a 5+ hour bike ride, did a short, but necessary yoga session....16/18.

Lost my fitbit, so now I need to figure out if I get another or hope it shows up. I'm a bit addicted to my step count, so I may get a new one!

70 minutes of a supposed to be 54 minute playlist turned into actually 72 minutes on my clock, due to the skipping (danced to approximate cadence of the music then-playing during the silent portions) with these .m4a files ... Punjabi Zumba in the house again, after 2 days of not getting to do much ...

It's the only thing that combated the wasting syndrome while raising insulin sensitivity in the process ... I've managed to regain a couple pounds, and it's worked better in that regard for me, than hitting the pool (not an easy or very inexpensive proposition at this stage of the game) ...probably because this Bhangra Bellydance fusion takes place on terra firma ...

Of course, my blood pressure readings have gotten too low, but I'm cooked, anyway ... I'm just trying for no worse damage at this point ...

5/21 day 8 mantra meditation, nice chant, felt good after, 13/18 self guided yoga. The first yoga music on Pandora was very rhythmic, so I did a more rhythmic yoga. Felt good!

rt shoulder feels a little better, so .did a 50 minute Pilates class at the Y.... hopefully it won't flare up again....saw a shoulder specialist last week and he said it is strained....and to take it easy....

May 19: 16/20 day 5 Repeating this mantra before physical activity, I connect consciously with my breathing, allowing each breath to fill me with ‘Prana’ - the universal life force. With this, I dedicate my physical exercise to the Great Spirit. Cheerful mantra indeed!

May 18: 15/20 day 4 I bow down to the one who sees with the third eye. Bless me with health and immortality and sever me from the clutches of death, even as cucumber is cut from its creeper, 12 min then about 5 min of a beautiful music, the session lifted my spirit, nice feeling.


May 18: 5/15 Yoga Conditioning for Athletes, 18 min, Rodney Yee, great after my 8K walk, Yeah!

Yesterday morning's class.

In truth, I will miss it.

I walked around all day afterward feeling graceful like a panther must feel.
Worth missing the dance parade this year (cannot be in two weddings at the same time ... needed the combination of cardio dance and mat pilates more than I'd needed what I thought I'd see ... as it had been, I had other errands to attend to in the general area ... and that's about it...took up much of a day ...)

My class pack had just run out, and I'd gotten an email to renew. A day and a half ago, The Nameless had called, saying that I have not been showing up at their studio for some while--they'd missed me ... in essence, what could they do to help? Come back or give feedback.

Guess what. I returned no calls and no emails.

Did a 30-35 minute session of power yoga outside today in the sun with some others. An informal class led by a good instructor. My balance (or lack of) still needs lots of work. :-)

Anybody around here also do Belly Dance Bhangra fusion?

It seems that, also, my involvement with that caused that same between-the-shoulder-blades soreness, that my yoga routine did ... Not one cause of any of the neck issues, though ...

That sequence had lasted well over an hour due to some software glitch ...
It also is soon due to replace the current #3 spot in my favorite exercises I like to do ... I will try to get the .m4a files to play in a playlist, even if the cannot sound as good ...

Being as walking, and regular belly dance-- #1 and #2, respectively--do next to NOTHING for my cardio issues ...

59 minutes super-duper abbreviated SEA change yoga, less time for pilates moves or meditation within the practice. Did it mostly because I'd hurt my toe dancing; as could be expected after weeks' long hiatus, every third thing in the sequence was a strain ... but my flexibility at the hips has not been that good in months.

Cancelled upcoming live yoga class, however. I just ran out of classes, and there are more important (somewhat more cardio) classes for me to pay for. That final prepaid class was allocated with the careful parceling I've been known for. I believe this studio really would like me to purchase more classes.*

I believe that I have been in the wrong studios - even if they teach with the right orientation. I live in an expensive city, and maybe some of their highest rollers retired and moved to Arizona by now ...

*if my financial situation would change or I'm not out of work a very, very, very long time.

Probably none of those classes would be in yoga. I even threw out a free pass to Integral Yoga Institute for a class. I've the time now, after years, but not the stomach to participate in anything "free" ... (except maybe in another upscale gym--taking no classes there, and going only on off-days such as holiday weekends, wherein I could keep a low profile). NOTHING in life is free. You pay, somehow ... (and the more private the arrangements they could upsell you with, the better - for THEM) ...

My sojourn with studio (as opposed to gym) yoga had started, in October 2008, with a "free" class. And then the Master Teacher asked me how I liked the class. And that had been the start of a very troubled life and blog.
