There is this yin yoga session named Mindful Yin Yoga has 2 segments with savasana, that may be useful to you, the first one at the begin of the practice 8 min and the second at 60 min, for 12 min total 20 min of soothing savasana. Check it out.
Ok, I've been receiving some great tips/videos for NWB! Below are some websites with good videos.
Chair yoga: http://www.yogajournal.com/21daychalleng e/beginner_day6 (Thanks Punchilouie! You are This one was TOTALLY doable although I had to keep my left leg elevated because my toes would turn purplish-blue if placed below heart-level)
Even SP has a team on chair yoga! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_ individual.asp?gid=32265
~~~~~REMEMBER: Just don't stomp your NWB foot. If you're at toe-touch weightbearing, then you can rest your toe down. Otherwise, I've had to keep my entire left leg elevated for most of the exercises. Yes, constant leg lifting has made my left quad muscles firm and tight, but it gets very exhausting and i developed ITBS (iliotibial band syndrome on that leg for which I now have to do physical therapy for).
Thank you! I've not heard of yin yoga but it sounds like just what I need to help me regain a sense of composure and calm. I've been super stressed postop due to extraordinarily decrease in activity. Also now that it's a challenge to cook, we've been eating lots of restaurant goodies.
I am really missing my daily yoga practice a lot. Recently I had to undergo ankle surgery and am post-op two weeks. I'm not to be weightbearing on the operative leg. My orthopedist says I am not to do yoga until 4 months postop.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a series of yoga poses that I can still do on one leg only? I'd ideally like a series of poses that "flows" into each other.
