shoulder still hurting, but it seems a little better.........did do 45 minutes of water aerobics with water weights at LA Fitness...then 15 minutes in the hot tub....

20 minutes Gillian Cofsky belly dance instruction

followed by

65 minutes Serene Embodied & Attuned yoga with yet different corework section. It got me sweating bullets this time. Intense. Certainly not cardio, though ...

I better get this section in a few days on mp3 file (within the practice). Do not intend to do this or any yoga practice any more than 3x a week, even if it gives me bellydance moves like Jagger ...

combined some cardio (bike, rower) with some stretching and some strength training...rt shoulder still hurting so being cautious,.....50 minutes at LA Fitness....will do 10 minutes of restorative yoga here at home this evening...

51 minutes cardio Belly Dance to NEW playlist imported from an album (selected tracks of which were arranged) into iTunes ...

My first playlist of copyrighted CD music, has a tiny handful of stops and starts in it over iTunes each time it gets played. I am getting paranoid that Apple is attempting to data-mine my song-sequencing patterns (of copyrighted materials by commercially-known artists). But I cannot let that stop me!

Unbelievable posture and hip flexibility. Which leads me to believe I may have to go slowly on revising super-abbreviated yoga practice. Because it never had so much positive effect on my dance before. Guess I'd had to step back from the practice for a long while to see what would happen.

SO Not a great reason to do yoga: the spirituality, centeredness and higher-order practices such as pranayama (breath-control exercises), chanting and the like; should be more important than posture practice ... but nowadays, I CAN'T afford to have them be ...

Hey, Beethoven had still composed music when he'd gone deaf ...

So, I can still be some sort of creative, sequence-composing yogi when my yoga must support my more life-supporting movement practices ...

But I mourn.

A stranger who'd ever studied yoga at The Nameless chain of yoga studios, would nearly immediately recognize the vast majority of influence ... to my mp3s home practice.

I'm not unproud of this. I certainly own it. (As do my stinging biceps the day after. The neck strain business came from Spencer's studio at one time. At least SOME people know how to pay attention to the neck ... drawing-board time on that, tho') ...

I'm going to keep her at 65 minutes in its abbreviated form. Ditch the first section, eventually for it to stay at 65 minutes ...

The way I think about this is. I've gotten more frail. I low carb. Lack motivation. Lack strength. Due to my conditions, those are not going away any time soon.

[I'd come close to leaving this team, in fact ... because of this ...]

There are tradeoffs. I suppose that's STILL yoga ...

The way I now do this practice ... it's a bit less taxing than the Bethenny Skinnygirl Workout (which is an exceptionally slow-flow form of Power Yoga) on .wmv (Unbox) file ... so my own practice must take longer than that video to do ... To complicate matters, I intend to boycott Unbox en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unbox ... they send me too much garbage. I've always not liked Amazon too much, but now I'd rather buy local and sustainable and small ... I've the time at this time, anyway ...

By taking less than an hour I risk injury more (from popularly-practiced Yoga?!? Mass-media, mass-marketed yoga?! [I'm such a poor but snobby* home yogi. Who'da thunk it?) ... so I have to weigh if I want to take from Peter (less than an hour! I'm in!) to give to Paul. Something unexpected could "act up" on me, and I hadn't choreographed this stuff ... I tend to follow when I'm in "following mode" ... even my own creations ... having all been created under the influence of large servings of Runa at the time!

I do have that East Coast bullsh!t patter down pat from all those classes I'd taken) ... and The Pilates Yogini at $18 an hour ($15 if bought in bulk) serves me a truckload more (that I easily steal, every time - gearing up for new stuff), even with her thick, impenetrable foreign accent ... I've given up on trying to steal pilates moves as I cannot afford both The Blonde and The Pilates Yogini at the same time ...

*which has more to do with Bethenny's lowbrow talk show [found out it's lasting but one season, so the ratings must be bad] which obviously sullies the rest of her offerings, I can't HELP it ... maybe she'll now have the time to do her eponymous Skinnygirl Workout, herself!

27 min 5 rhythms trance dance to Tribe CD

followed by

65 minutes my ultra-abbreviated mp3, including additional as-yet-unrecorded corework section ... really out of touch with my yoga practice, lately ... this is the slowest-moving one that I ever do ... slower and more difficult than J Brown 60 minute video ... and with my less-frequent asana practice, I certainly expect quite a bit less of myself. I'd started to drip sweat, and this is despite prescribed sweat-impeding medication every day--ambient temperature reached only about 80 ... and began to strain-- how counterproductive, sitting parts of the sequence out ... so that's the story now ...

The way I now do this practice ... factoring out the one or two arm balances in the sequence, it's not much more difficult than the J Brown 75 minutes' version, "Slower is Stronger" but it's a bit less taxing than one of the Bethenny videos ... so it must take longer than that video to do ...

I have read about not using a Kindle, etc at bedtime. I ususally have no trouble falling asleep. However, I had just started a new book.... paper edition... which is the second in a trilogy and got way toooo caught up in the story.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

Is it cramped and neighbor/outdoor-noisy where you live, CAROLJEAN? Are you making every effort to avoid EMF radiation and electronic-light-intensive activity at night? A kindle or other e-reader, if that's what you use, is worse than having a pulp-originated book ...

There are naturally-nocturnal types, and, of course, environmental-pollution-influenced semi-nocturnal types such as myself ... I must sleep with both earplugs and my white noise machine on practically every single night (my upstairs neighbor rarely is not home, making noise in the wee-hours)

I definitely will be out of my current apartment in about a year, whatever it takes ... Seven years of (rotating, transient) neighbor-noise is just too much for me to have taken; it takes hearing all of it in the daytime too (small studio, so I CAN'T escape to another room) ... being laid off, learning so much about my relationship to my living environment ... Of course, it had been MUCH worse living underneath a scary guy and his pals who was under the impression he was running a kickboxing school all night right upstairs (not zoned for commercial) ... I spoke to people at the very nearby mixed martial arts academy about this when they'd been in the area two to four years ago ...

On again, off again; but I'm back ...

Guess I did my yoga off-the-mat ... I was caretaking my elderly aunt and noticed a bunch of mess left under an area in the kitchen, and cleaned it up without her knowing this (thankfully she was in another room) ...

I decided to put off getting a replacement printer for my one that had gone bad. There is an internet caf in the basement of a party supply store that may even know me from before I'd owned the excuse for an HP printer for the past 4 years, that is starting to cut me deals to print-out ...anyway, the trim, tiny woman who'd run the desk there circa 6 years ago, told me used to do her (self-directed, CERTAINLY NOT for those with claustrophobia, style) yoga in the 135 sauna booth at the nearby gym I'd also been a member of at the time, before her shift every morning ... THAT sauna booth is the only facility she made use of in that entire gym.

It's a fairly upscale gym, they have towel service ...

So glad I did my practice this morning. The day was dark, dreary with rain off and on. The serenity I brought from my practice lasted me all day.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

4/24 day 7 for me as well, guess we're on the same track with finding our flow, Punchie!

3 sun salutations before the meditation, came home and did my self-guided yoga, with downward facing dog from my cards. Got out the yoga strap and mostly did a floor based practice. 16/18

Had a really good practice this morning. Teacher helped me get a great stretch in triangle and told me my back bends are actually starting to look like back bends.

20 minutes Gillian Cofsky belly dance shimmies workshop, followed by,

78 minutes Serene, Embodied and Attuned ... still have stolen just 4 of The Blonde's pilates moves ... (at this point, are they Torontonian mp3/dvd star Amy Brown's ? Well, I have another live class from The Blonde coming right up~)

It was a killer, but several standing balances took off remarkably... the handiwork of The Pilates Yogini and J.Brown's dvd are to be credited ... because I had not felt I could do that playlist in ages!

Managed to get a guest pass at upscalegymfullofyoungpeople.com ... who'd a thunk it. My cousin never even thought of getting me a guest pass to the New York Health and Racquet club, of which she'd become a member ... probably because she can't fathom she could give me one for any branch of it roughly in the East 34th Street area ... and she's got loads of Financial District still-working friends to impress (I GUESS!!)

So, I took an old bathing suit, from 35 pounds ago-sized, took it in (will hand-stitch it up with 4 ruched darts), and add snaps to its inner panty part ... reinforce where the seams had burst out (tight had been TIGHT even 3 short years ago, before my diabetes disease discovered for me, low-carbing ...)...

I swam ONCE, 3 years ago ... then had swum semi-frequently as long ago as nearly 6 years ago ... sooner to do THAT, than the Solstice Yoga Celebration in Times Square '14 Been a super-commuting, extended-family-caretaking, semi-dysthymic landlubber since '08 ... I need to add some "Happy" to my life ...

In honor of all that, I did:

56 minutes cardio belly dance to my mp3 playlist ... significantly shorter cool-down, to lead-into a

9 min (so far) mat pilates (two of The Blonde's moves so far, with remembrance of cueing from the pilates studio owner's wife (& teaching mentee) )

Working out this new corework section (not recording its cues yet), to eventually tack on to the mp3 playlist ... has to be longer than this by a hair ... to round the yoga practice playlist out to a 67 min or 80 min in total practice, when most or all segments are performed ...

Proactive doctor interceded on my behalf against mail order health aids house, that has shorted me on test strips ...

Lately, I am fighting with both barrels and need those ... though my #s (gone loopy 3 days ago) are beginning to trend downward. Also, doing so even if not strictly time-circumscribed post prandial in the evening, actually helps me remember to take my pills.

I don't like piercing my finger any more than does the next person, but at minimum I need to do so twice a day ... emoticon

30 minutes extra walking ... some hills ... went to 2 drugstores, internet cafe and later on food shopping.

Guy at computer place rented me use of their computer. My printer had bit the dust around December, I think and it's not worth resurrecting. So, I printed my resume ... I will scan it at my aunt's place (she hates Word ... she once had WordPerfect and maybe used it once, so I guess she hates that too) into .pdf form and print copies of it there.

Her printer really kicks a$$

56 minutes my cardio belly dance workout ... feeling no (mental) pain ...

I am thinking of the penultimate class left in my package with The Blonde ... it's cardio yogilates ... and it's not just 56 minutes long.

Well, under an hour does the trick for me most of the time if it's intense cardio ...

did 50 minutes of total body strength training today at LA Fitness....then 10 minutes of restorative Yoga.....

4/12 8/18 with my self-guided yoga, featuring warrior 3 picked from my yoga cards. Started the day with 3 sun salutations and day 13 of Becoming Fearless meditation.

4/13 started the day with 3 sun salutations (I'm getting better at remembering to do this!). Just now finished day 14 of becoming fearless. I'm headed out for a walk, hope to get in my yoga when I get back.

highest weight ever:202, SP starting weight: 143

New goal: more practical new goal, 129, update ticker to reflect that goal.

The last session in the yoga retreat was Yoga Nidra. If you haven't experienced this, try to find a qualified teacher. It is sometimes translated as yoga sleep... it is an awareness meditation meditation. At the end Linda said she predicted we would have a great night's sleep She was absolutely right. www.yogajournal.com/health/1372/

Mild cardio stops working so well for my condition ...

Better Stop walking those hills (I cannot walk fast with these feet) and back to intense low-impact Dance and yoga ... who'd a thunk it ...

Had an incredible day at the Yoga Retreat. Great teachers, good session and lots of yoga. Then ended the day seeing an absolutely incredible community playhouse presentation of Les Miz.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

4/11 did my 3 sun salutations first thing this morning. Had to postpone the meditation until this evening, I was able to log in via the e-mail, since it showed back up again. Day 12 becoming fearless. Self-guided yoga before that. 7/18

4/10 did my 3 sun salutations, had to hunt down day 11 of fearless meditation, but was able to find it. Not sure why the e-mail notifications have stopped.

No yoga, it was my walking day.

Yeah, I found a way to make the one class I must give up (Yogea Artflow Yoga-inspired) - in the coldest part of the non-heated room ... in favor of The Blonde ... a way to make that class make me sweat ...

The teacher, The Pilates Yogini, got used to me and my shenanigans (such as medical contraindications for inversions, etc. ... wanting to make that practice style "more dancelike than even it's SUPPOSED to be") ...

If you're ever in New York look Spencer up. Also, I will get to work on The Master Swami this weekend. His studio DOES teach intense cardio (in the form of belly dancing!! emoticon ) but because it's not under his auspices, he only wants me to take yoga with him again ...
