Yep, we're in Puerto Rico, our nephew is living in San Juan for a few years so we are staying with him. It's been really relaxing and fun, just 2 days left though...and then it's back to the snow!

TINIERTINA emoticon love the word stay-cation, I guess one has to change the mood of resident to tourist and enjoy the city that many love NYC.

Houston is also a good destination, right now the Rodeo started yesterday with a nice parade...being in the mood tourist...not resident...or neighbor resident...(live in a little town south of Houston)

I would think a "staycation" in NYC would be wonderful....it is a vacation destination after all, lots to do and see!

I'm a manager where I am, not "the boss" but a boss, I suppose. I do have a lot of time I've built up over the years so I am trying to use it!

2/28 ... Ultra freeform ecstatic dance .. not even music ...for 30 additional minutes (notice I said "additional" ... LIFE is a dance! -- and it's Yoga, too ... but - you gotta admit, life is a dance!

Last night ... 15 min extra walking ... walking back & forth in the course of activity at job yesterday (damage control edition) Yes,I'd had too much to do at work--working very many extra hours (no paid overtime) for a change. The boss will squeeze - plus, was a short month - and what I do is end-of-month-deadline-dependent ... add on damage-control component, and sometimes it collides with end-of-LAST-month-deadline-overrun-depende
nt (according to The BOSS .. did I mention how small (in size) the company actually is? Did I mention that "the buck" stops a possible X-marks the spot of only a tiny handful of places? As in under 10 employees in total?

I think I need even a stay-cation, but gotta wait until the weather is more conducive ... (such as late Spring in these parts) ...

Though I've the impression you get many, many little vacations here & there. Must be nice!

Maybe you're "the boss" where you work ... hahaha ... my boss is always going off somewhere ... (not always on business ...)

If I were on even a stay-cation (in a few months, Tundra-time will be over in the City that Rocks (no rock climbing for me- in other words ) - maybe the boss was right ...

Though I could use the money, methinks my work has been suffering a little, of late ...

Thanks Tina, I appreciate that sentiment! And I did get in my yoga at the fort on Thursday...we went back to the grassy area (it's huge,used to be a 9 hole golf course back in the day...and the grass still feels very golf-course-like! Nice for yoga, since I had no mat. I also held crow for around 4 long slow breaths...the grass was so soft and cushy, so no fear!

No yoga yet for this vacationer, but maybe today....This is only our 2nd full day here, after all!

I missed meditation on Tuesday (long travel day, so it was spent in and out of airports and planes, and trying to get some sleep!). But have done day 10 and 11 yesterday and today. Loving the downtime here, we check out the Spanish built forts the past 2 days, and may head back to the grassy area today for the stretching before heading out of town this afternoon. Or we may just hang here. No plans per se, so we really can just do what we feel like, even if that is nothing!

Oh, I just found out the boss will not grant me pay in lieu of vacation this year.

I think that time (a staycation, natch) is when I will take some time (among studying other things) to unbundle all those .wmv files in pilates I'd purchased .. do them (or finally, again) and cadge inspiration from them, and to polish my own instruction modules ...

Earlier this evening- after sometime quite early today when my knees finally stopped bothering me, I had gotten in 20 minutes extra walking (bits of ice still left around) ...

and then did 72 minutes my mp3 ....

In comparison to the last couple (other) yoga practices, it seemed very easy and fluid .... and my lower body was cross trained by the two videos since the weekend, Bethenny Skinnygirl and David Magone ...

Except of course, the corework ... But that was always the vestigial of this active practice's pilates-oriented origins ...

I'm on day 9 of the 21 days of love meditation, so far for February, I've managed to fit in my daily meditation....love it!

I probably will do some yoga on the beach, but no selfies (if, by that, you mean taking pictures of myself doing it!) for me....I'm barely on FB, and rarely post on line, aside from Spark.

I'm headed out to ski soon, 2 days in a row!

Hey, I just did 50 minutes Bethenny Skinnygirl Workout ... did quite a bit better, for a belly dance lesson had cross-trained my standing balances .. had to do swap again with plyometric half forearm-stand ... my feet are really diseased since 1997 ... the plantar fasciitis, etc.and sensitive balls of feet .. despite my Aurorae mat-towel (replaced new for the kush ...)...

I would say that I am a beginner over and over. I haven't truly made it a daily practice yet, but I keep trying. I have practiced at a gym and have had one session with a certified instructor. Thanks for the links - I think ill start with Esther Ekhart.

Umm, for the nth year in a row I would not be taking a vacation ... (I get the pay in lieu of vacation, practically entirely -- tiny office with work heating up) ... so why don't you selfie-up your yoga practice on the beach ... so many other yogis do. Though, thankfully, they do not always share.

There is a difference between aspiration and inspiration in those super-advanced shared selfies ... I find the former, and hardly ever the latter ... you've got to be within spittin' distance of doing those advanced asanas yourself (not all are yogis who do them, they practice sometimes a lot of complementary sports: rock climbing, gymnastics - rather than a yoga practice ... and they get into those poses) ... to get ANY inspiration from doing them, imho ...

Finished the first week of the 21 days of love meditations yesterday.

emoticon on the yoga challenge (for me) Friday evening with a self-guided yoga practice. Since we leave on Monday for Puerto Rico, I'm not sure how much yoga I'll be able to get in while away, so I wanted to at least get the challenge I had set done for this month. But then we'll be on vacation, and near the beach (I hope!) so should be able to find some time here and there for some yoga.

You have some options besides youtube, there is also hulu.com and most important yogajournal.com and kripalu.org, both have home practices, yoga journal has a 21 challenge for beginners and intermediate and kripalu.org home practices for beginner, intermediate and advance levels. In youtube there is Namaste Yoga and Esther Ekhart for instance. All are free. Check in the Information Forum for more ideas. Have fun in your Yoga practice. Namaste!

I saw your site, and you seem to be a clearinghouse for these yoga teachers and yoga videos.
Does being a sexy yogi have anything to do with the Yamas and Niyamas? Because brahmacharya, sometimes ... Pursuing sex for its own sake is counter to being a true yogi ... this is what causes a lot of problems, even in other non-religious spiritual pursuits, and is the tragic flaw in much guru-worship (perish the thought!)

Anyway, it's good to know that you have free power yoga videos on your site for those who want it. More "power" to that.

after about 43 minutes of cardio belly dance, making sure to favor the hurting left knee, which hurt a bit less over time (but still sore--forgot my liniment beforehand in such situations) ... to selected tracks (resequenced from another album than usual for the short dance routine)

then I actually did about 29 minutes of the Jillian Pransky ... quit after she got to virasana - did not even swap a pose ... it's too late for me to do more ... feel halfways emoticon but I sure would not make the knees hurt more ... in that pose ...

And yup there was music--loud, hypnotic music with Sanskrit intonating lyrics ...

Not used to all the repetitions ... I have done holds but the arms, upper body do this Dance ...

I did, actually, the 50 minute Bethenny's Skinnygirl Workout (lower res version off the downloaded .mov file) because I have something else in the DVD-ROM drive, and modified with my blocks--I also substituted poses here and there, as an example--Mike McArdle's ("enhancement") move toward the end of the plyo sub-sequence BECAME pincha prep by me, not handstand prep, which he obviously does there-- my swap features a cubit's less space in which gravity messed with my bad feet ... and yeah, I was able to reach out to the surrounding furniture for prayer-knee balance (precursor to that balancing padagusthasana stuff) at times ...

As far as the plyo move, I don't get up very far (due inflexible hamstrings and keeping the dolphin pretty wide ... etc.) ... so I need not overworry about possible eye complications. If I had been able to do plough a few days ago, no problem (and certainly not in my previous practice, which was - aside from downdog held a wee bit long, inversion -free)

Now, my knees took a hit.

I will do at least the first 10 minutes of the restorative ultra-slow flow off of the Jillian Pransky DVD I've won ... up to a $23 value, that ...

I did my mp3 playlist, all 84 minutes -- with not enough ambient heat.
Held crow pose twice for two full cycles of breath apiece* - but I had to really tweak the leading-up pose sequence a bit (because of the "Daddy issues") ... too busy and tired to make it "offcial" on the module .. .
just too, too much

One bright spot. I did win the latest of 3 dvds in a contest: Jillian Pransky Calm Body Clear Mind ... Yes, I am branching out to actual stress-busting, non-athletic practices (these do not include breathwork or chanting ... just like the Bethenny ones ...) ... I did take restorative yoga class three times in the past 6-1/2 years ... and when I'd taken yoga in 1991, I'd very much needed actual restorative yoga, but it hadn't been in popular practice back then ...

* the lack of purposively heated practice caused any and all core work/ab work to excel through the roof ... ! in comparison to all the other times in recent memory ... and this is with the usual tweaks to make it more difficult than is popularly presented (in commercial media)

De facto, things heated up greatly at my place of business ... I am really going to have to punt and thus, stay--with what I have now in my created yoga universe ... I really may be relying a little more on Bethenny and Co., and not tweaking my own mp3 file - to switch it up ...

Particularly, I am a bit crestfallen that The Soulful Yogini (upon whose methods was "perfected" the latest of my created file playlists) has left for greener pastures ...

Things would not be the same with The Pilates Yogini (my future sometime IRL yoga teacher) ... just a passing glimpse of her one evening, and I could tell ... I'd been in a holding pattern with my practice between mid 2010 and late 2012 ... it's not something I have not dealth with before ...

did my meditation yesterday and this morning. No yoga for me yesterday, we went skiing, and it was tough! I was quite fatigued, and just didn't have the yoga in me....guess I needed a little break. I'll see how I feel tonight, hope to get back on the yoga train!

The practices were different ... wind chill outside circa 10 degrees ... apartment underheated, and space heater on not as high ...

did the Power Wave (5 rhythms) to Tribe CD 27 minutes, followed by about 50 minutes of Bethenny's Skinnygirl Workout ... they both were easier to do with less heat ...by circumstance, not plan, mais oui ... have to practice non-attachment with the heater (even if I were to upgrade in heaters in the future ... because
my condition took to it better ...

Still a little beginner for the Bethenny Workout, but I don't wipe the floor with myself, with that change in heat ... no need--then the workout would become something to dread ...

The jury is out as to how I do my mp3 ... seems that slower practice is OK with heat ...
but then, I must ask myself, "why?"

Why not wait until the heat is natural with, as they say ... "a huge spill of solar energy ..." emoticon .... which shall happen, after the rainy season ... sometime in the future ...

10/18 self-guided practice after work today. The rain has let up, and I think I even saw the sun! I think we may get another storm later this week (looks like maybe Thurs/Fri?) but I cutting out of work early on Weds and skiing! emoticon I just need the storms to hold off until then.

Meditation was nice this morning too...
