Nice way to write to be mindful, to be in the present moment and enjoy it! Myself I wouldn't lit a candle because I'm allergic to aromas and candle smell, but in my mind I could see the light and feel what is described in the text. It was a nice short meditation. Thanks CAROLJEAN for sharing!

Also TRAVELFAN thanks for the quotes, like CAROLJEAN the last 2 were my favorites

Love the Ellen Goodman and Goran Perrson the best. Read something yesterday that I loved
Light a candle this day in gratitude for all the wondrous things you experienced in 2013. Use the light of this candle to reflect and then blow the candle out. The past is dead and gone and will never return.

Light a candle this day for all the wondrous possibilities that are awaiting you in 2014. Use the light of this candle to dream of the possibilities then blow the candle out. Tomorrow is an illusion and never comes.

Light a candle this day and see the beauty of the candle. Experience its beauty for it is like your life and can only be experienced in this moment. Allow the candle to be your reminder.

You have learned and reflected upon the candle of the past and the candle of the future. You have blown these candles out. What you have before you is the candle of the moment. Keep this candle burning . . . always.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

NEW YEAR QUOTES
===================

1)The Old Year has gone. Let the dead past bury its own dead. The New Year has taken possession of the clock of time. All hail the duties and possibilities of the coming twelve months!
~Edward Payson Powell

2)Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.
~Oprah Winfrey

3)People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas.
Anonymous

4)But can one still make resolutions when one is over forty? I live according to twenty-year-old habits.
~Andre Gide

5)One resolution I have made, and try always to keep, is this: To rise above the little things.
~John Burroughs

6)We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives... not looking for flaws, but for potential.
~Ellen Goodman

7)Let our New Year's resolution be this: we will be there for one another as fellow members of humanity, in the finest sense of the word.
Goran Persson
