Much too cold in my apartment for SEA Change (kind of a heated practice), and my little heater could do just so much ...

If this were a couple years ago, and I didn't need to do cardio the way I need to breathe (because of my condition ... ascending hills with a load in the cold already causing little pains in the center of my chest) I would do refrigerated yoga tonight ...

My yoga practice is a little tough on my neck ... perhaps I stole a bit too much from my pilates-cum-yoga teacher, The Soulful Yogini ...

Well, while I still will be taking pilates classes from her, at least ... I will keep this up ...

But some time my mp3 playlist is due for an alignment-CUEING adjustment ...

Additionally, I feel great after practice (a different kind of "great" than before); and, furthermore, if the neck issues is what it takes to have advanced in vasisthasana as far as I have ... even though that pose was always my favorite (no matter how elementarily (is that a word?) I'd ever done it ... in the over 6-1/2 years of regular yoga practice, I will stick with it ...

12/29 20/18 bonus #2, a repeat of yesterday's gentle hatha for hips, I started to do a different one, but I wasn't feeling it, wanted something more gentle, so switched to this one. I had done a 15 min meditation before hand as well, the Oprah/Chopra gift, day 1, which was day 10 from the relationship meditaiton series, miraculous attraction.

I got alot of yoga dvd's for Christmas. I am excited to start using them. I did 30 minutes of Adrian Reeds forward bends after my 2.5 mile run. I will also listen to day 14 in Deepak's Perfect Health. The centering thought is "I intend to take steps each day toward perfect health." I love this yoga life :)

88 minutes yoga: my succession of mp3s as a playlist - No, I hadn't the chance to preview it beforehand.

I was a little stiffer in my front body (parts of me were cramping due to this) ... but my core was strong ... drafty apartment (I'm supposed to sweat a teensy bit more with this practice), and I had trouble picking the right candle (lengthy, wild plume on the flame of one... did not want to go there) ...

My practice, in a different spot each time, is advancing wildly ...

perhaps there will be more downloads (if they come in that form) of other teachers' practices -- YES, I am a yoga teacher--my OWN teacher) if I deem them of value ...

Just wait a while ..;-)

41 minutes of freeform 5 Rhythms Trance dance ... to busy to do yoga practice

When I practice yoga, it's lots of yoga ...

Two things:

have to iron out the achy kinks anyway ...
have to preview my upload of my revised sequence segment after a false start ...
I was in no mood to bring the Olympus with me to work .... it would have distracted me from my job ....

I should have time for multimedia on my day off tomorrow ...

I ran 3 miles and then did 30 minutes of Power Yoga with Adrienne Reed. Thank goodness I am working on flexibility...I didn't realize how tight I was until I saw some of the things the beginners could do...Oh well, it will come. I am thoroughly enjoying it. I think I might be getting some yoga goodies for Christmas...

Wow... yesterday's practice caused my calves to be aching tonight, along with my shoulders ... the same exact practice as from the time before ... but my orientation towards it was different ...

Everything was done in a reaching mode ...

And, of course, no longer strain on the knees and hamstrings ...

35 minutes extra walking (hills) - yesterday - that's my most favorite exercise (bad feet - cannot use a treadmill) had been done (with pulling medium-weight loads up hills -- learning to use new pull-cart during part of this time ...) ... walking/shopping etc. in my hills near home ... could have caused some of the strain ... many people in this hilly neighborhood own cars - I do not ...

25 minutes freeform ecstatic dance - today ... that was all I did ... most dance steps hurt ...
.. putting China Gel on soon ...

Rarely get to do my walking (as in, going anywhere out of my way ...) cheating on it all the time with dance ...

77 minutes of S.E.A. change vinyasa yoga ... this practice is not really fusion anymore, as indicated earlier on ... and the entire (with breathwork and chanting) , I'd knocked down to 88 minutes' duration ...

My practice has evolved beyond its being middle path again ...the one drawback to being "middle path" is that your practice evolves but then can get stuck ...

I get my ambient temperature only to around 84 degrees in here, yet on a humid (and temperate) day like today ... we have some decent flexibility going for us ...

Maintained real steadiness in one of my peak poses, crow - in my case, this pose held the lowest-slung, ever, to the ground, my torso hovering exactly parallel to my mat, and alignment perfect with my melted heart and very chaturanga-like arms ... and this time my breath was steady from start to finish ...

It took me the best part of 6 and a half years of regular yoga practice to see what all the shouting about this pose was about (particularly from all the studio yoga teachers I've taken from,excepting those from the Tree of Life, where this pose is NOT taught in the generally prime-time-available classes, as far as I know...It was even taught at Spencer ...before they had The Soulful Yogini change her format to bring in the business ...) ...

I know perfectly well, that had I NOT been indicated not to do ANY inversions (I personally, prescribed that for myself/felt that way due to how quickly the blood rushed to my face during standing forward bends; and that eye flash scare). Still -... were I still doing inversions [and not a diabetic--the kind who is still not out of the woods with the eye concerns: just safe for now], I mean ... it would have been a so-called milestone reached around early 2013 (long before year 6).... irrespective of small degree of overweight--a condition that wasting syndrome caused to not be the case, anymore.

Health at Any Size!

Not so much with shoulderstand, but with the other inversions you do confront your fears and test your balance sweet-spot; also providing opportunities to learn focus and to relax your mind ... which cross -pollinates a lot of other poses ...

Now you know that there should be a video practice from a YogaWorks-ish type studio but with plenty of woo-woo/Sanskrit/chanting thrown in JUST for me. I'd be all over it ...

I squeezed in about 47 minutes of Dolphina's Warrior Goddess Workout ...

It is definitely belly dance, but it is not cardio enough for my needs ...

Low rotation for that one; so sorry, but I DO LOVE Dolphina ...

Back to yoga, but I also plan to stick in 45 minutes of CARDIO-belly dance (probably to choreograph it myself, as usual) ... certainly not as favorite of an activity [even SharQui The Bellydance Workout is a little less favorite], as belly dance itself for me ... the choreography, the theory, the instruction, the musicality ... mmmmm ....

On the Indian side, (for all you dancing yogis into the actual Indian culture), I found a very similar pull towards Bollywood Dance, while The Masala Bhangra workout was always more effective (and less liked) for me ....

Great day to do Sun Salutations. Have anyone done the 108 Sun Salutations to honor the arrival of the Solstice?

I remember I did a couple of years back and it was an awesome experience! This year I'm still a bit off with my new treatment, having had a hypoglycemia episode after a blood work last Wednesday Dec 18, so I hope I'll be ready to do them on the Spring Equinox.

I imagine everyone is busy these days, It is very nice to see that your Yoga and Meditation practice is right on schedule.

12/21 13/18 did the Kathy Smith "yogilates" video they had on SparkPeople. I can't say it was my favorite, not enough yoga, and I'm not sure what was Pilates about it either. But I do like Kathy Smith in general, so it seemed like something I would like. I used to do a lot of her videos back when they were on video tape! I did follow that up with the Wild Divine meditation, day 2 of Healing Rhythms.

12/20 12/18 did Qi yoga for runners from yogadownload. The yogadownload podcasts I do all seem to be fairly good beginner practices, there may be some harder moves and flows, but I think if you get to something that isn't working or you can't do yet, you just modify or do what you can. Most of the time they recommend going to child's pose if you need a break as well.

I did the work stress meditation yesterday as well, 16 minutes. Really nice breathing focus and letting go of negative emotions.

52 minutes SharQui The Bellydance Workout Level 2 ...

So, do you actually become a "Level 2" if you stop adding frenetic movements in it, and just follow the instructor, really, really isolate your core with discernible resistance .. really go into full range of motion for each movement; and really execute a full turn when she tells you to turn?

Must be all that yoga in the past few days (as well as my own cardio dance routine) ...

SharQui is not strict belly dance cardio. It is core-intensive, agility-intensive belly dance fitness ...

Finally treating it as such.

@JENSHAY, the Qi yoga on yoga download is good for us advanced beginners, but runs a tad fast at times ... Dawnelle's 70 minute one will make you sweat bullets (well, it did me), but I learned a great deal of alignment from her ...

Yes, Happy Birthday Kayotic! I ran 2.5 miles last night and then did 30 minutes of Yoga Stretching with Priscilla. I'm going to have to check out the Qi yoga on yoga download. Do you know any others that are good for beginners? I'm loving the stretch that I get after my run. It does feel great. I did # 9 meditation on Perfect Health with Deepak and Oprah...best part of my day...

Tonight, 56 minutes cardio belly dance. I gave my space heater a well-deserved rest. As well as my usual flame candles.
It's that shoulder season for candles with practices that are not yoga.
Using a flame-free candle sets just the right tone for this. Its lavender scent is practically not thrown at all ...
I don't need the heater for cardio belly dance under normal circumstances, just for my particular yoga practice (even in late spring)
...

12/18 11/18 with Qi detox flow from yogadownload podcast. Some good flows there, got the heat up!

Then brought it down with bonus day 1 from my Mentor's channel meditation, breath deeper, slower, quieter and more regularly.

I turned 50 today, and feeling pretty good about it. emoticon

was having a depressing moment at work yesterday, so I turned on one of my meditation podcasts and just breathed for awhile....It brought me out of the major part of the funk. No yoga though, so I'm still where I was the other day, 10/18 (I think?)

Sincerely ... it is major santosha to get it knocked down to 88 minutes ... and have the vitality left to start with all the pranayama, and include everything ... leave out nothing (important) ... I don't need to leave the wrench attached to the new fixtures, as it were ...[my digital voice recorder is a great diagnostic tool ... my "Fitbit"/artist's palette ...]

On days like today, I've a mandate to knock down about 8 or 9 minutes off my mp3 playlist yoga routine.

Reason being, the cold, wet hilly commute got a message from my pained left knee ...

The other reason (not heretofore stated) is that a short savasana pose of just 6 minutes is not justified by the top-heaviness of this practice ...

[I don't do workout-yoga, per se]

In conclusion, even though my track record of 6 years' standing does not unilaterally support this, I don't have to throw in the kitchen sink in my yoga routine ...

12/15 (yesterday) I had done 95 minutes of my mp3 file ...

I had a workaround for doing this with no music ... having to do with a theme/atmospheric setup

Today, ecstatic dancing 41 minutes or so ... (Music from Soulfood ...)
