I think you gave an excellent clue in your response.... "I think I was trying to stretch out a little more than normal, especially during warm-up." Warm up is for gentle stretching... you can make your muscles sore if they are warmed up by stretching too far.

Thank you! Most of my soreness is delayed, which is why I thought it was exercise related. This was in a really weird spot though. :D

I don't think we tried anything new, but I think I was trying to stretch out a little more than normal, especially during the warm-up. The instructor is really good about modifying, and with the pace of her class, I modify most of the poses that in my other yoga class I can do without modifications. I will mention it to her next Sunday.

Shoulder rolls and chest openers could cause that sort of soreness. The fact that it is better today probably means it was DOMS(delayed onset muscle soreness) and will resolve itself. If it recurs, see if you can remember the poses from the practice and find the poses common to the practices that cause the soreness. Tell the instructor and ask for modifications.

Have you ever gotten a sore muscle in the area of your sternum, sort of on the bust line? I did a vinyasa, very modified due to my arthritis, on Sunday, and I was really sore in this area yesterday. Went to my second yoga class yesterday, and today is a little better, but now my hips are sore, and I know that's from the class.

I just thought I found all the places I never thought I would be sore, but this was a new one!
