@PUNCHIE and others: I experienced little delayed onset muscle soreness EXCEPT in my hamstrings and calves ... yup, this practice does engage the largest muscle groups in the body (cardio) ... and it challenges and grows/changes with cardio capacity ... a bit unlike the other mp3s I've done ( and I based it off the 2nd mp3 - I broke sequence and snuck a bit of "aerobic" interval training in there by longer holds in a proprietary salutation sequence ... and the practice is top-heavy on variations of the sun salutation [to be technical about it] )

It's a bit tough on my knee joints, again; and hence with not too much commercial potential, AGAIN. But my heirs will have the first two (extremely unpolished) mp3s to kick around with, should they desire to make something of my creations in the yoga marketplace of the future ...

Come on, there ain't no free lunch ... and the yoga marketplace is not really looking to be aerobicized (or even pilaticized--POLITICIZED is something else [and a Jivamukti specialty not included with MY creations at this time] ... their running or rock climbing probably landed them in yoga class in the first place

And seriously?

I had to go to sleep too soon to see if I truly was centered after the practice (my best acid test) ...

However, my fasting blood sugar tested a little low this a.m., and had to bring it a tad up ...

Well, I guess I COULD do yoga in heavier rotation ... ten months post-diagnosis, it seems effective as cardio for my condition ... I fall down only on rapid, weighted-down stairclimbs (intermittent) in my rabid, rapid 3 leg supercommute ... but that is a problem of all cross-training ... and running to catch the train requires a highly specialized form of sprint-aerobic-endurance that is not all that common in the human race which will tend on just slow-twitch muscle fibers (is there such a thing as mixed-twitch?) ... in my experience, heretofore straight cardio (to the edge of my capacity) spilled over into not getting out of breath on those stair climbs ...

88 minutes my own mp3 creation subtitled, "Breath, Enhancing and Integration of Practice" ...

For the first time ever, it was harder to do than to prepare while doing ...

Really, the harshest practice I ever invented. Um, maybe I'd left the yoga studio because it had cost too much money to attend? Because I sure was channeling all I'd remembered of that studio this time.

[Minus the more-than-mildest inversions, of course ....]

Bear in mind my latest influence on this creation was Jennifer Maagendans via download .... it could well be that I'd caught that studio in their Jivamukti-inspired Period ...

18/18 with hip openers from yogadownload, happy to have finished my challenge today! Not sure how many yoga opportunities I'll have these next few days, as we'll be traveling a bit.

Did the Wild Divine 5 min meditation (or instruction) about the radio station in your head, and the week 2 of the happiness challenge, they have each week a download of a meditation for that week. This one was 16 minutes, but I'm not sure if I listened to the whole thing or not, as the counter on my computer stopped around 11 minutes, but the talk sounded like a repeat of the first 2 minutes....I'll have to give the download a listen and see what's what with that.

88 minutes SEA change, a NEW recording, a different variation on the 2nd mp3 file--less emphasis on arm-strength and more on breath. Got way up into full wheel for the first time in a number of months. Multiple heat sources (including oven--I had been cooking and hadn't missed a beat. The oven door inadvertently slamming while I was dharma-talking/instructing [at those moments--away from the mat ... I can't pause this recorder without making a new mp3 file... and I'm sure my one and only "student" understands ... lol] ... I've gotta hear that part tomorrow a.m. while on my commute) providing the requisite low 80 degrees' temp necessary for this practice ...

Still tested a little too low for my taste this morning (considering I'd slept in) ... by the a.m. I am positive that my restrictive diet (and a bit much of Runa Clean Energy Zero yesterday evening after work emoticon what a bad day - ) caused some share of this ...

Nice work on your blood glucose, Tina, that's great news!

15/18 for me now, I pulled out Barbara Benaugh DVD for stress relief, and did the low back tension restorative yoga. very relaxing, focus on breathing, and holding poses for long periods of time to restore and relive stress. I did day 14 of the Chopra meditation challenge as well.

88 minutes my mp3 file ... very challenging ... I will record another practice very soon ...

It knocked down my blood glucose reading just as much as I'd like--despite near hell at the job, earlier in the day ... but it is a butt-kicking yoga pilates fusion which is mostly yoga, and less rapid pace than my first file ... so I am headed in that direction ...

Earlier in the week, but did not get a chance to post here : 56 minutes cardio belly dance, and 35 minutes 5 rhythms practice--mostly staccato and chaos rhythms ...

I did get in 12/18 on Tuesday, freeing the feet from yogadownload. I keep thinking I will be able to fit in my yoga, and then work/life takes over, and it is nowhere to be seen! But I have been able to listen to the meditation challenge each morning, it centers me nicely to start my day. I just finished day 12.

Walking in to work today, so I'll see if I can get my yoga in this evening when I get home.

I love using my pocket yoga app on my iPad. I find its much easier to fit in my schedule, but I still love going to classes!

My pilates mat class at the pilates studio, kicked my butt in ways that were made obvious only when I'd attempted to do Jennifer Maagendans' practice off of Myyogaonline.

Good thing I'd downloaded it, too ... did 54 minutes of the otherwise 70 minute practice ...
From the old days of myyogaonline, they'd mislabeled this All Level class as a "Moderate" level class ...

It was cardio to my liking, however ... moreso than the average Jivamukti-ish style ... and the so-called 5 breath holds, were done to the rhythm of the music, as a diabetic I'd had no grounds to fear the downdog holds were threatening possible retinopathy ...

Not even for low-rotation, necessarily . just something to work up to some day in the mid-range future ..

And .... of course, inspiration for my mp3 self-practice in vivo/diy script - natch!

Back from the Bay, still on 11/18 for my yoga this month...just no time (or place) to fit in any yoga this weekend. And things are still crazy at work....but I did get in the meditation finally yesterday morning, but turns out I missed day 8. I'll have to keep on it to get the rest in.

@FITNESS_ELLE, #1. pilates is far from a "lame" practice. Really, my pilates class is well worth the money. Maybe not before she'd put on the music, imho.

Crazy-LOVE music. I DO dance! My pilates (and erstwhile, yoga) teacher claims she's no kind of a dancer. But she's got the sense of theatrics for one ... emoticon and from what I'd seen a few months ago, she's got this going on: emoticon ... funny how a few short years ago, their (meaning yoga teachers') doing, pushing on resistant students, and marketing themselves with, fakir-level acrobatics used to really bust my chops!

Santosha is my best kept secret weapon.

She was my yoga teacher, and before that she'd been, in heavy rotation, my pilates teacher for the first go-round. I'd actually come in on a Yelp deal (not a fan of Groupon and the like ...) to that pilates studio, and I'd come back for more ...

I do not go to any live yoga classes. Period. No Groupons. Couldn't fill you in on the "scene", as it were. Sorry. (So NOT-sorry, actually)

Thanks TinierTina!!! I used to live in new york city before moving to northern england. new york is an amazing place to live, but super expensive. a friend of mine used groupon to shop different yoga places for free. How is your class going? I wish I could go to yoga class!

Thanks for the motivation - this team is great! I got another yoga book from the library - trying to learn more poses.

88 minutes: I did my mp3 again

I noticed many more sequencing errors on the mp3 (mostly forgetting to do a side or starting / continuing with the wrong side of the body (in which I immediately swapped sides) ... perhaps that is what helped me have a really bad cramp in my upper left shin well into the practice) w

There is a way I can review the mp3, but I have no audio editing software [a lot of this is for the challenge, a test of memory .. and the routine needs to be more and more intuitive/spontaneous as well /// anyway, this is not a professional endeavor ... makes more sense than to do this as a "voiceover" at this stage ...

A note about "music":

I'd had ambient sound ("Rejuvenate" selection on the SoundTherapy, which is musical in nature) turned on (upstairs neighbor had earlier been making a racket!), and my mp3 going on my Dell (through iTunes) ...the same, getting-old-and-beginning-to-see-bloopers-
in-it routine freaking nearly killed me ... (and I'm talking physically--never mind that it appears unpolished) ...

There is something about MUSIC during a class which is verbally "led" (by either myself or by an instructor) that I must battle against ...

51 minutes cardio bellydance ... soreness from having followed that mp3 last night ...
and felt my hips tighten up (that particular practice had been all about backbends and hip openers) ... needing a hair o' the dog, 3 minutes of this dance routine was yoga asanas ...

@ FITNESS_ELLE, my work/commute/caretaking schedules preclude going to yoga much; as does my diabetes ... not to mention that my bank account lives in a yoga-sparse zone ... I physically live in New York City ...

Well, I've got a handle on home practice ... with my second mp3 file - it is a bit milder in format than my first file, and as I have to test my blood sugar a lot (I have an obsessive doctor and I am on Obamacare now), readings seems to agree with the practice on the new file .. [wish I could gain back some weight I lost, though] ...

BUT, it is:

88 minutes - (done on 10/16/13) the mp3 file ...

will have to tweak it but not urgent this time ...

I did put it onto iTunes ... [what? ME worry?!?]

No yoga yesterday, just day 6 of the Chopra meditation. This morning I did the Core practice from the Rodney Yee, Daily Yoga DVD, and my back/hip did OK with that, just a few twinges, mostly with twisting, so I'm going to try to avoid any real twisting until it improves. I also finished day 7 of the meditation challenge. I believe I'm around 11/18 at this point.

I started the day with day 5 of the Chopra meditation, intro to Mantra. The only practice I got in was my 5 minute office yoga, which I squeezed in after lunch, and it did feel nice. My back has been sore since yesterday, and I ended up skipping my usual small group class at the gym, hope it's better tomorrow,as I still would like to run/walk into work.

So glad for the October challenge! I did a few forward bends and tree poses this morning, not a lot, I know, but it helped me feel better. Now that it is getting colder I will definitely be doing yoga indoors rather then going out for a jog, at least in the mornings! I don't think my work schedule will allow me to go to yoga classes :( I'll have to do what I can at home.

90 minutes (the mp3 is only 88 minutes) my own proprietary yoga practice.

Production values much tighter this time!

I might just wear this mp3 file out, if I play it on this PC .. using Windows ...

Gotta study this first, if I want to stick it on itunes and forgo the light show for even better playback ...

as in someone stealing work from me ...

Although, it kicked my butt because I'd been hungry from shopping some sales right in the neighborhood ... stores uncrowded ... most people at home or away or in the City (not very locally shopping) ... with tomorrow (Columbus Day) off ... a FIRST for my company, and probably having something to do w/ the government shutdown ...

Used an ILLUME Oceano scented candle plus a battery-powered pillar candle (had been marked down at Pier 1) in Lavender scent (further away) ...

Was greeted with a wonderful light show at the end of practice ... volume much higher than that of the playback on the file when it was just from the recording device ,,,

And... neighbor noise continued throughout the practice .

Nooo PROBLEM ... it reminded me of yoga at the gym ... a most pleasant memory at times ...

yesterday and today, 9 and 10/18, I pulled out Daily Yoga with Rodney Yee, and did the first 2 practices. Yesterday's was the Iyengar practice, and today's vinyasa. I also completed day 3 and 4 of the Chopra meditation challenge yesterday and today. Feeling good!

Thursday, did 8/18 just the Office yoga, but it was a nice, pre-lunch break in my day! I also did day 2 of the new meditation challenge.

Nothing on Friday...I hit the grocery store after work, and then ended up getting home with no time left for yoga/meditation.

This morning I started with a short 4 minute meditation from Wild Divine, breathing in and out love. I should be able to work in a practice and full meditation some time today!

It's much, much less of a strain when I am not square-dance-calling (but as if on amphetamines) my every move, its timing and its cue; when I practice to something I recorded, instead of practicing it and recording it in real-time ...

I got a chance (when my a.m. lengthy commute wasn't stressing me out at transfer points) to preview the recording (it probably seemed to others, as if I were listening on a funny-looking iPhone) ... it really IS a wrap ...

Anyway, back to the actual Challenge ... I did a short 5 Rhythms practice (Gabrielle Roth Tribe CD ... thankfully not worn out by now ... )

I went back to the Dr yesterday for my neck/back problems. They still do not know what is going on with me. The Dr. gave 3 injections into my back, put me on steroids, muscle relaxer and medicine that is used to treat fibromyalgia. I hope this medicine works b/c I'm tired of all of this pain.

7/18 did my yogadownload at the gym, not sure about this one, it was called even out after a long sit (which I have been sitting all day...) and seemed to involved a lot of chair pose....not exactly what I was looking for! I didn't finish since I also needed to foam roll before my circuit class, but I did about 15 minutes or so.

I'm looking to do Day 2 of the Wild Divine/Chopra meditation challenge, I think this one is 14 days rather than the previous 21.

highest weight ever:202, SP starting weight: 143

New goal: more practical new goal, 129, update ticker to reflect that goal.

Um, I am planning on downloading Coco Finaldi, Janet Stone and Jennifer Maagendans videos off myyogaonline.com (as an expired member) ... for inspiration to my mp3 creations (the spiritual parts/right speech/spiritual orientations)...not quitesomuch for the practices themselves ... my previous downloads were (subconsciously) for more or less the same reasons--but they were extremely mild practices--well within my skill level (and with no inversions); except for about a third of them, which have fast sequences and/or non-inversion-y arm balances I can't do ...

Just that many download practices (from other sites such as doyogawithme.com and yogadownload.com) lose track of the power of a spiritually-driven class orientation ... and are just sequence-move callers, IMHO ....

10/8 82 minutes S.E.A. Change (on steroids and "on the radio", too:)

At mid-evening, I had done my self-created mp3 file (my recorder/player is not Bluetooth-enabled,so I have to listen via speakers) in my apartment.

I used a wood-wick candle burning to provide scent, and - importantly - to provide some white noise in the background that proved to help me drown out upstairs neighbor-noise ... which sometimes sounds like their own miniature in home version of a Dave and Buster's or a Funtopia USA for hours at a time ...

This of course, is pilates-infused yoga plus pranayama (breath-retention exercises). This will be the third time since recording it in vivo ... so, the 4th time doing this practice routine ...

But, in order for this routine to be non-routine, I am planning a second file very soon ...

Incidentally, while alignment-oriented AND infused with spirituality and affirmations (from the mp3 prompting) this mildest form of power yoga actually delivers on managing my cardiovascular issues, for a change ...

6/18, yesterday, I finished up the last 7 minutes of the gentle hatha from Monday, and did a 5 minute Office yoga practice in my office...it was nice, and I'm going to try to do this one as often as I can, especially now that work is so stressful! I did the sat chit ananda meditation again yesterday morning as well.

This morning I found a Wild Divine e-mail in my in-box, and there was a 3 minute meditation so I did that, and then I found that Chopra has another 21 day challenge that started on the 7th! I joined that and did day 1 this morning as well.
