Yes I do Pilates sometimes, I like the technique, it feels good after a session! I should practice more often though. I also practice Tai Chi and Qigong

Thanks TINIERTINA, you are right these exercises for the core are more Pilates today, by contrast several sun salutations A and B and chaturangas followed by bridge pose and then a yummy savasana. The repetitions and the fast pace made the heart beat go up and I was sweating, it was fun because I could keep the pace and I just did what you advise in some poses, I just slowed down, caught my breath and continue to the next segment.

Day 3 week 2 cardio Yoga...

@PUNCHIE, you just have to memorize the exercises in that video slow them down slightly, with slightly fewer reps ... and you have a good chunk of the sequences in the studio mat pilates classes I've taken since the summer of '12 ...lol

this is not really "yoga" in and of itself ...

My arms are getting a good challenge too, but I am welcoming it with open arms! (pun intended? haha) My upper body strength has always been on the weak side, even when building it in yoga practice.

I tried this a couple of months ago. I got to the end of Day 1. Then my abs were so sore for the next two days that I couldn't even *think* of doing any exercise.

So I can safely attest that the Cardio Focus practice from Week 1 is challenging, both for the heart and the muscles. As for the rest, I'll find out when I'm a fitter and more accomplished yogini ;)

I have done day 2 and 3 one abs and one cardio,one slow pace one fast pace. I found the repetitions challenging, my arms are having a good exercise in particular..lol

It is harder than one would think! The first day I had thought, "these poses aren't so bad", but once it was continuous streams, I quickly got shorter breath & it definitely tested my arm & shoulder muscular strength! I couldn't wait to get to the "cooling down" part.

The Fitness Yoga Challenge actually uses Yoga poses. One holds the pose and moves in and out in an slower speed to rest and then to the next pose. Like in interval training.

Hey, cardio is good. They have to cloak it in "yoga" clothing to get yoga people to do it.

My dance (and - way back in the day - step aerobics) self-choreography can't seem to even wear a yoga scarf, let alone a cloak ...ahh, but I do get to sweat it out right at home ... and frustrate a dance teacher who (in her own words) "can't get (me) to sweat" ...in part due to this cross-conditioning (though not in such large part - there are medical factors regarding management of chronic pain ,etc--and I told my teacher that ...)

It is a good one, and I'd do it again, if I didn't have other stuff going on, including my current knee issue!

I'm sure you all will get a lot out of it, it was more cardio focused than most of my usual yoga practices are!

Hmmm, I still have that Stephanie Snyder "Yoga Journal Yoga for Strength and Toning" core practice DVD gotten for $free as swag from when I'd done the Solstice Celebration in Times Square ... plus from them, a couple coupons from New York Kripalu and Integral Yoga Institute, as well as Earth Yoga ... oh, and a gym, Harbor Fitness (they give me one full WEEK), I'm very interested in doing the freebie for ...

The Times Square Alliance had given us all these free coupon book packets (kinda like those Entertainment bound Coupon Books) Had no inclination to sell the rest of the coupons I have had no time to use, on eBay (just kidding); so I'd shredded dozens of coupons ...

Guess when it comes to the Yoga Journal (plus others' emoticon ) fitness challenge(s), I've got my work cut out for me -- it is right in front of me ...
