intended on doing a yoga class at Fitness 360, but youngest son decided he needed me to take him to get some things for work...so.......did a 20 minute resistance band workout and a short yoga dvd here at home.....grrrrr!!!!

Did an unplanned mash-up.

A) Revisited something from yoga download, Qi Yoga with Dawnelle, which I did only the first 25 minutes of [supposed to be 63 minutes] (t iwas too tough on my wrists and much too fast by the time I quit it) and then

after that,

B) Did the entire 42 minutes of Yoga Therapy for Depression with Rick Coe ....

Dawnelle woulda been a little p-d off if had she been teaching me live ... walking outta her class ... but this way no harm no foul .. {I think I'd gotten that download on a discount) ... emoticon

I did finish the meditation challenge the other day as well...Can't wait for the next one! I'll try to do some of the ones I have in the meantime.

We're headed out of town this weekend, not sure if I'll get in my yoga today (we may stop at a nice park on the way, in which case I probably will get it in!) but I'll try to get some this weekend at some point.

15/15 Gentle hatha for hips again, I could do more of the practice without modifying today, although I still did modify in places. I just can't fully bend my left knee, so half pigeon is out, and it's even difficult to do some of the restorative poses....

Ortho appointment is for Sept 9th, if I still need it then! My knee is feeling better the more I don't run....but then I will not be able to do the marathon I've signed up for next month. Such is life!

I also couldn't help but dedicate my practice to my boss ... he is having trouble remembering things ... I both get strength and attempt to send out my strength in turn, via prayer and well wishes through the practice ... carrying over from meditation as could be done while moving ...

6th of 8, but the first physical yoga practice in an 8 day period.

70 minutes abbreviated S.E.A. change ...

Was able to get into a steadily held crow pose for the first time in over a year ... have to credit cross-training in drill-oriented belly dance class I took at the studio ... even if I had to enter into my own (more cardio) practicing at home in addition ...

Hmmm, the focuses of these drill classes are usually balance, abdominal contraction and isolation, development of propriocepton, hip flexibility and arm strength (a lot of holding of arms aloft accomplishes this ... it's not a result of moving arms rapidly (or isokinetically, for that matter) through space while dancing ...)

14/15 gentle hatha hip openers from yogadownload. My knee is really giving me trouble! I saw the doctor today, and will be seeing and ortho when the referral comes in. I cannot bend it very far, and while I think yoga should be good for it, I know realize how often we bend our knees in yoga! I guess that's what props and modifications are for...

35 minutes ultra-abbreviated version of S.E.A. Change ... made possible by this being my 28th version, 3rd patch ... Nothing should be gotten right the very first time for it to really have legs ...

When I' d had to shorten the routine before [say, for a freestyle yoga class (it had been a community class - would not pay full studio price for anything self-sequenced--you know ME)... something always fell a little flat... the practice had not been scalable timewise in the way that it could be ...]

no gym today because I helped my youngest son with his move .........did do a yoga dvd this afternoon and some myofascial release using the rumble roller......back to the gym tomorrow...

I would probably be shoehorning in something abbreviated, later. Made it to my belly dance class today and will have already done 45 minutes extra hilly walking (not particularly cardio the way I have to do it, carrying loads or carrying out chores ... lol)

9/15 yoga for runners. I've done something to my knee, and while it doesn't hurt, it's stiff, and I don't want to do damage, so I've taken a couple of rest days. But did try the yoga today with a knee brace. Not sure that works! I wonder if I need to try to do more yoga (maybe watching how the knee does) to see if I can work this out.

I've just finished day 12 of the Chopra meditation challenge as well.

That 5th of 9 or 10 for the month ... ?

All indicators are that my body definitely counted that mlange as cardio.

Say what you will, but I'd rather do a yoga work-in than a yoga workout ... simply do not have the time ... besides, it takes a certain kind of video star to reach THIS DVD-abhorrer ... one that doesn't seem to give off vibes that say, "Hey. You at home, there! I'M the performer and follow me if you can. I'm not working with YOU!" In theatre, dramaturgy and show biz--bless their hearts--they call that "the 4th wall"

I've been continuing with the daily meditation, but no yoga...I have my monthly massage/sauna tonight, maybe I'll do some gentle yoga tonight? If not I'll get it in tomorrow!

69 minutes worth of two Oriental dance videos:

#1 in its entirety - 50 minutes Hemalayaa Behl The Bollywood Dance Workout

#2 19 minutes of - Dolphina's Warrior Goddess Goddess Life Workout Beyond the Basics Belly Dance

Between the 2 of them, about 14 minutes of yoga ... there was Gita talk, Krishna talk, Chakra talk and Chi Energy talk in either of them ... much of it is Kundalini energetics .. not the static hatha ...

works for ME ..

Yoga I also did - not counted for the challenge:

Karma Yoga: prepared several servings of several items for the potluck at the satsang

Bhakti & Jnana Yogas: Meditation, Kirtan (for several hours); discussion of spiritual leadership and Indian/Sanskrit singing theory... Master Swami was out of town and a yogi leader and kirtan walla--who is mostly a jazz singer with the kind of bendy/twisty/turny voice that could span octaves in a single grace note--not unlike this country's Dolly Parton has .. necessary for classical Indian singing ...

7/15 picked a new podcast, yoga for runners, it's a bit more strenuous than the Gentle Hatha yoga I did last week! But I'm going to try to stick to it, I liked getting familiar with the practice last week, so we'll see how this one goes.

CarolJean, I guess we're all different, eh? Even on different days I can sometimes touch me knee in forward bend, then other days I'm nowhere near it! But since the running really tightens me up, I'm enjoying seeing my progression in the yoga.

3rd and 4th

The 10th of Aug: about 12 minutes of Belly Dance Power with Gillian Cofsky (total 35 min. with an extra cool down I need to throw in at the end...to make myself clear- I meant to say, the workout lasted 35 min., and 12 minutes of that was enough YOGA to meet the challenge - if I count stuff like this, I could aim for 10 a month. My self-sequenced belly dance routines have NO yoga in them ...)

and, then, today:

78 min "class" with a nice candle "lit by me" and music "chosen by me" .. in my (it actually is) studio (apartment) .... and it went very nicely ... this is getting to be lengthy again ...

I hoisted myself almost fully into Sage Koundinya's Pose II on my left side, with the laterally more open right hip .. I've got cross syndrome at the hips ... lol ... did not want to strain into it because I'd gotten eye flashes again last night ...

Good to hear about the opening you are feeling in 1/2 pigeon. For some reason my hips are ridiculously open, but my back is tight, tight, tight. No up dog, my cobra couldn't hurt a flea, and forget wheel!

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.
