the pain at my left elbow has started to go away ... I did to my (different, tougher; actually SharQui Level 2) video at home what I've done to one of the dance classes at The Nameless Studio already, just refused to suspend my arms in the air for several musical measures, despite what the teacher says/does, as needed ...

and it is SCADS less severe than the one at my right elbow, which still pains me a tiny bit, on rainy days (even 3 years post-injury later) like today ....

God and Shiva help me ... have to really be off this challenge ...

Nearly 3 years after The Cool Yogini had cheerleaded my headstand then-attempt in her class (in a near-throwback hatha style) - and as a result, I'd developed bursitis in my right elbow, my STRONG arm - left arm - developed elbow bursitis as a result of my new vinyasa class ... we were doing ashtangasana half-push-ups ... and it's unmistakable–48 hours later—what it is ...

That said, I went all wimp-out on my belly dance and did a 45 minute Cardio Bellydance by Dolphina as a led dance session last night ... 10 min. extra walking but no deskercises during the work/commute day ...

Thanks for the link... looks very promising... We lived in Turkey for a year, actually across the street from a resort hotel and would go at least one evening a week to see the belly dancing.
I did my Adamantine class this morning as usual and am contemplating my practice in regard to the contents of Zen in the Art of Archery.
Also did day 13 of the Mantra Meditation... loved this one.

Through trial and error I prefer - in addition to my self-choreography, but in unusually high rotation to it (can never say the same about any yoga dvd's/downloads/streamings, lol ... DESPITE having only a few. But slow flow is not commercial enough for mass distribution--and by its very nature lends itself more to live instruction - UNLESS you have found a way to beat the system)

sharqui.com/

CAROLJEAN, I understand you have not been a stranger to more traditional exercise classes. But you don't have to know a thing about bellydance to start from the basics with this system. Nor have to have a well developed sense of rhythm.

She breaks everything down with little boredom potential once you've learned. And the music is not distracting, either.

Her dvds are each expensive, as dvds go ... but then again, so had been my Jonathan Urla Yogilates 3 dvd, which had been head and shoulders more expensive than his less advanced editions. I predict I will get more mileage out of this SharQui dvd as a practice--in terms of number of uses.

Meditating this morning for 15 minutes. Going to be heading to the gym for some cardio and then some weights being added back to my routine. My bicep seems to be feeling alright. Will take it slow. Then ending my session with some core yoga.

I love the idea of a little cardio on my day off. I cannot do any high impact cardio because of an orthopedic issue as well. You suggest belly dancing... any sites or DVD's to suggest?

Have to go sneak in some belly dance aerobics.

As has been the case before ... somehow I feel I've missed cardio dance exercise ... at least the kind that has no gimmicks and is low impact, anyway ... certainly never as addictive as step aerobics had been (before developing orthopedic problems from the addiction); but, to be honest--more addictive to me than yoga ....

5/5 - 60 minutes vinyasa yoga studio class Level I-II - ish, Sonic/Laughing Lotus-inspired ...
excellent class .... Not slow-flow like my home practice. Mouth-breathing encouraged; music-enhanced. Lots and lots of Morley. I have those recordings at home (for home practice--did anyone mistake me for a yoga purist?). So, seems so deja vu ... emoticon

This same teacher taught me a large handful of pilates classes prior to teaching me any yoga, music-free... but logistics now have her teaching pilates to music also. emoticon

It is only Stott mat pilates that I've had done in the past, enhanced with any audio technology ... lol ... and not the other pilates mat styles ... music and Stott together are such a mental challenge!

Sunday is my day of rest from yoga, but I must admit to doing some awesome stretches and ankle rolls before I got out of bed this morning. My daily yoga has come to mean so much to me, that I have mixed feelings about taking a day off. However, James, my teacher, believes it is necessary for a good practice and I am beginning to agree with him.... especially when I think about how eager I am to get up at 5:45 tomorrow morning to get to practice.

My yoga session at home, just 66 minutes of it ... obviously not much more frequent than about 5x a month the past month, though .. has helped me enjoy my Masala Bhangra workout dance class last night ... hips seemed a little more flexible going in; and the dance class was able to work into the hips I brought to the table last night ...

Again, what a mixed bag: she lost several young yoga women about halfway in .. they could not take to the pacing and the use of the large muscles of the body (legs--and fast!); they found it impossible to pace themselves. They complained this class was "not like yoga" and they couldn't take it, on their way out ...

I'd never seen the class ranks thin so quickly in the space of a half hour ...

On the other hand, there was a young-ish woman who seemed to really like dance more than I do. Her first dance class of this kind, and she was smiling the whole time ... increasingly, as the class went on ...

5/3 2/18 Gentle Yoga #1 from Yoga Zone on Hulu. I tried to start the 21 day Deva/Mital meditation challenge, but my internet did not allow! It kept cutting in and out and stopping on me (every few seconds, just not very relaxing!) So I stopped it and will try again later (maybe this evening).

Okay ... I snuck in 22 minutes desk aerobics while at work at the "Penthouse" office today (earlier)

and this evening, I did 66 minutes of my own S.E.A. Change Level II, including the following apex pose small sub-sequence ... please note, this is slow flow--not very long on agility but long on strength, patience ... for someone who needs BOTH .. so ... not the younger generation's vinyasa. Here goes:

Camel - 6 full cycles of in-out breaths
Cat (Marjarasana) - 2 cycles breaths Cow - 2 cycles breaths .. done 2 times
Bridge - 6 cycles breath
Ardha Supta Virasana *(in my case, atop medium height block) --- youch my knees [I'm recovering from a "torn meniscus" ] 6 cycles breaths
Urdhva Dhanurasana - held high for barely 5 breath cycles ... with no need this time, of setthu bhandasana to transition in ...
Baddha Konasana - 8 + breath cycles
Viparita Karani on block 8 or 10 breath cycles ...

transition out into finishing poses ... um, I got into half shoulderstand again .. sorta ..

Interesting start to my May practice. Two days in and I have had two great practices. This AM I felt a little like a mailman... you know through rain, snow, sleet and dark of night. .... just what I drove through on my way to 6 AM yoga class.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

At the moment, I am struggling with some hard emotions. Meditation is going to be very huge for the next couple of weeks. My goal is to meditate 10 to 15 minutes each morning. I am still going to continue my gym workouts or walking my dog at the park if it is sunny out. And work on light yoga moves geared to my core.

Lots of travel plans, I'm going away this weekend, but just a few days, my real vacation is at the end of June, and I'm looking forward to that, even though we don't have plans on where to go.

Meowmeow, hope you get to the studio and enjoy the class! Going that first time is usually the hard part, I'm the same way, but always glad when I go.

I'm trying to talk myself into going to Yoga classes offered at a studio across town. I've been hesitating because I'll be going alone. Once I do it, though, I know I'll love it so tomorrow is my starting goal day.

The closer we get to the summer more events come changing our schedule. Such is life!

Let's live it to the fullest! I'm also traveling for the Memorial weekend to celebrate my mother-in-law 100 birthday, imagine that!!!!!

May 1: day 4 Mantra Meditation, Aham Prema, 108 times, the music kept the thoughts at bay and at the end my body vibrated, this is an interesting Meditation.

My goal is to continue my Adamantine self guided practice 5 mornings a week and another home practice on Saturday. This month that will be a challenge and slightly modified. We will be traveling and visiting family from May 10 - 20. I will be able to go to practice on Friday May 10 and probably afternoon practice on May 20th. In between with travel and such I still hope to practice 6 days out of 7.
