Thing is, I know if you were a grad student in NYC... and took a class at an affordable studio, and the teacher was pretty bad (whether or not married to a celebrity), YOU would not sue if something went wrong ... like falling out of an inversion and crashing through a nearby 6th floor window ...

and maybe none of us would sue ...

I have a unique $ situation for my yoga practice. I see my teacher 5 days a week in a class than can range from 4 to 12 students.
However, I end up with a significant amount of personal teacher time as the class is taught in the Mysore method. "The first thing to strike you when you walk into a Mysore-style...yoga class is that it seems like total chaos. Here’s one student doing a headstand in the corner, while another is coming into the triangle posture and a third is struggling to balance on her arms. What is going on here? If you stay a while and watch closely, you start to notice a pattern emerging. Everyone seems to be on a path, following a precise choreography. Also, compared to other yoga classes, the silence is striking. Occasionally the teacher will whisper something to a student, but the dominant sound is the collective breath. You’ll notice the teacher move swiftly from student to student, giving adjustments as appropriate."
I spent $175/ month which is about $8.75 per class. However, I am welcome to come to more than one session a day if I want. I have been doing this for six weeks and now cannot imagine another practice that would make as big an impact on my yoga and my life.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

I practice at my city recreation center for $5 per class twice a week. On off days i use yogadownload.com for my home practice. I had a groupon for yogadownload.com & it was about $20 for an annual membership. That was the best $20 i've ever spent on fitness.

No, she teaches students for only $8, I think, walk-in price per one hour extra-crowded class session, in New York City. That price is chicken-feed for Manhattan, where the prices average $22-$25 for 75 to 90 minutes.

Of course, like The Nameless II (which had to raise its price to $15 and get rid of the student deal, up in the Chelsea area of Manhattan), these affordable yoga studios attract young, show offy, competitive students, overwhelmingly ...

1. Or take an unaffordable yoga class
a. I take the 1-hour long variety (with a generous expiration date). Price is scaled down. Still carriage-trade price emoticon
2. Or practice at home
3. Or set your intention: I will stay out of the hospital for any yoga-related injury

It's not that hard.
