we should really be flexible with ourselves, shouldn't we?

I remembered a meditation centered in accepting us and loving us for what we really are, and we should add for what we can do irrespective of goals, I think goal setting is just a tool, not and inflexible end.. like in a film named Sliding Doors one of the characters used to say: "nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition"

Thanks all for the incredible effort and especially for the incredible support and feedback giving this month!!!!!!

Yeah, I do Ballet-tone on Friday mornings, and she incorporates some yoga poses in that class, but I can't count that as yoga either! Funny the restrictions we put on ourselves.

@KAYOTIC, I am right now 5 pounds under my goal weight. I really don't want to stay down here, even though when I'd been Not-a-diabetic, I'd fit into my goal size of size 10 (at the waist, tee-hee - my size 12s are swimming on my disproportionately scrawny legs) - at this weight.

I'd set a liberal weight goal on purpose and for my own purposes, when I had not had this disease.

And, more importantly, I've barely met the yoga challenge I set for this month.

I have to say again, how bad about it all I am ... I wish the masala bhangra workout class counted as yoga practice emoticon I mean, it DID originate in India ...

Hey, Punchie, I hear you on the "it happens" it's good that you go with it and don't stress about not meeting that goal. You really do keep us motivated with these challenges, but sometimes we also need to do what is right in the moments....and that may mean not getting in all the goals we strive for.

3/31 17/15 (glad I stepped down my goal for this month!) another Yoga Zone video, 20 minutes, evening stress relief. Filmed on a beach in Jamaica, and lots of twisting, my favorite! I also did day 15 of the Chopra challenge. I'm debating buying this download, I do like it, and it would be a nice reward for continuing with the challenges!

3/30 16/15 back to Hulu, and Yoga Zone- I did "total body conditioning part 1" from there. It was a nice, basic practice, and I just do some of my own poses during the commercials. Did day 14 of the Chopra challenge. Balance in Silence.

Aha moments are great, or finding someone who knows exactly what to say at the needed moment. To experience those situations are priceless, CAROLJEAN and VISION_QUEST! Congratulations.

Great practices everyone! I just finish day 9 of the Meditation Challenge, Creating Balance. I was able by repeating Sit Chit Ananda to see violet and yellow light in my mind when I said it. I was at peace at the end of my practice. I've been doing restorative poses here and there in the last few days but nothing to be considered a practice, practice.

Have a wonderful day everyone! emoticon

I just have to say, a studio or two had gotten under my skin so much that I would not cook flesh during the days/times I was practicing yogasana [both in my tiny apartment which has almost no ventilation] ... I never was a vegetarian, but I'd become as a result of involvement with a studio, a pescetarian for 9 months ...

Doctor saw absolutely no advantage or change to my numbers in my doing so ... and, in fact I was depressed all the time and felt out-of-sorts ...

It suddenly dawned on me that I did something last night I had not done in nearly five years ...

All week I have had the growing feeling that my practice was at a plateau. This morning at the end of practice, my teacher said, "You need to work on patience. You have a maturing practice so change is going to be slow. focus on the breath."
How did he know it was just what I needed to hear?

My early AM practice continues to bring joy and stillness to my day. I have very tight psoas muscles and find certain poses to be challenging. My teacher and I discussed other possibilities and decided to continue working my present practice. I need to remember small changes are important.
This AM teacher told me that my tight psoas have one positive, my jump throughs are better than about 90% of the people he teaches.

Still haven't started yoga.. I received all of the 21-day challenge from YogaJournal and I saved them in a folder on my email account so I can go with it when I feel better. I was very sick for the last week-ish and couldn't do anything at all :( I'm starting to feel better now, and I might subscribe to a summer class for beginners at a local center if I can find a hole in my budget.. which would probably help me getting started :)

I did 6 yoga practices so far this month (over an hour each).

I told my aunt whom I care-take ... that I would have to not visit so long when I help her out, I need the time for doing yoga ... I still want to do yoga although you better believe that I've gotten used to (and have benefited from) actual cardio ... which must make up the vast bulk of my exercise ...

Though I cannot stand sweat (even from yoga) ....

CAROLJEAN is your Yoga practice very intense during the week? maybe looking for one quiet like Yin Yoga or Restorative Yoga to give your body a nice change. I love the one with Rodney Yee,(AM,PM YOGA, this one with Patricia Walden) quiet practice, the poses are stretches to tune the body for activity.

Glad to read all the posts since my last one last Thursday, being sick with a devastating migraine after watching a video for awakening. My fault I should remember that my eyes and brain can't stand fast, colorful fast turning moving images.
I had to be in a dark, noiseless room for a day and a half and then it took me some more days to get back to normal. From Thursday afternoon to Friday , my brain raced with the word "awaken" trying to solve weird math problems, fortunately that day I had listening the mantra of day 4 of the Chopra Challenge "I trust the wisdom of my body",which I repeated to counter balance my racing brain over and over. Saturday, I forced myself to go out and walked and walked to tire my body and distract my mind, Sunday back to bed with a headache with nausea and dizziness but not need for darkness. Monday felt better, Tuesday to the doctor's office, Wednesday I was able to do Day 5 of the Chopra Challenge and today Day 6 . Thanks God it is over. Longtime since I had a migraine like this.
I love the message in the last two meditations, healing, healing.

I'm quite behind in my goal for the Yoga practice and Meditation for that matter too. I'll do my best to finish the month with some good practices in both.

Going to be doing my 21 Day Chopra Meditation. Then will be doing some Yoga and Pilates this afternoon. Feeling like I am about to start a cold, had some green tea in hopes to help with my throat.

Makes a difference doing yoga more than once a week.
I could manage only about 65 minutes - am coming down with a bad cold (again) ... not just a sore throat. It caused me to cancel my reservation for yoga class last Saturday, but I did my own longer than class length practice over the weekend.

My body is more agile with the weight down. Went easier on myself with the pilates part ... I unbundled it from the main yoga practice, and watched some TV during ... I have some strength moves in with my practice.

In answer to your question KAYOTIC, the nature of some of the practice I do still takes the place of light weight training I used to do ...

Most of the time now, unlike before; I am doing cardio dance fitness (usually belly dance based or Indian dance based)- it works on the muscles, too--a little less core work than my yoga-pilates fusion practice.

So rather than yoga 15 times a month, I'm shooting for 8 times a month. It's not like I do 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there. With yoga I have fully fleshed lengthy routines ... [have zilch privacy and/or autonomy at work] -- it's a lot easier to shift out of sneaking in dance moves mode to my boss just came in mode ... than to hoist myself up off the floor or out of a pose ...

No yoga for me today, but I did get in day 8 of the Chopra challenge.

Congrats on passing your goal weight, VisionQuest, if that was your intention, do you feel good where you are now, despite wanting some muscle back? Do you weight train at all, I circuit train twice a week with a group and feel that really helps me retain my current muscle base.

As my weight is very much down, I have to do about 80 minutes S.E.A. Change with more pilates thrown in to adapt to my new lighter, more long-muscled limbs .. (or switch off with Integral class of 55 or 60 minutes) - about twice a week now; despite needing a lot of cardio.

The pilates portion of my practice is really a kick in the gut ... and so I can't do it so infrequently.

So my challenge goal is now 8 a month. Not that I will be a stranger to the philosophy section either.

-------

I am below my weight goal as of now, and am trying - perhaps fruitlessly - to regain muscle I may have lost due to my condition

Today is a very busy day for me due to an early meeting at my son's school. I am attempting to do my Sun Salutation and 21 day Chopra meditation, which is needed at this moment. And I will be attempting some walking video for additional cardio.

Yesterday was not a good day for fitting in my Yoga but glad to be able to do Day 4 of Chopra and I need it. I had to pick my son up early from school and head back to the Asthma doctor. He is having Allergies that is effecting his Asthma. Felt rushed and on edge, but was able to do my meditation each time I felt rushed and on edge or angry. It was very helpful.

Namaste,

3/14 9/21 from Yoga with a View on Hulu, from season 2 with Hilaria arms and glutes. Fast paced Vinyasa, it was a little difficult for me to follow, since the breathing cues were much faster than I'm used to, but it was a good vinyasa practice. Did day 3 of the Chopra challenge afterward.
