Thanks for posting the link on the April challenge topic...
I just finished day 3 and I think I am still vibrating. Deva has a DVD that has 7 different mantras repeated 108 times... the proceeds go to a Tibetan monastery.

I think that's a great analogy, it explains the difference between meditating and random thinking/thoughts. food for thought....

Thanks KAYOTIC for the info about deadlines to purchase the Collection or the new Challenge.

I read this today in Yoga Journal, what do you think?

Seeking Samadhi

The ability to focus all the mind's attention toward one thing is the foundation of dhyana or meditation—and is absolutely necessary if the practitioner is to reach the liberation of samadhi.

One way to understand the distinction between concentration and meditation is by using rain as an analogy. When rain starts, the moisture of clouds and fog (everyday awareness) coalesces into concentrated moisture and becomes distinct raindrops. These raindrops represent dharana—intermittent moments of focused attention. When the rain falls to earth and creates a river, the merging of the individual raindrops into one stream is like dhyana or meditation. The separate raindrops merge into one continuous flow, just as individual moments of dharana merge into the uninterrupted focus of meditation.

In English, we often use the word "meditate" to mean "to think," but in yoga, meditation is not thinking; instead, it is a deep sense of unity with an object or activity.

Yoga students are often taught to meditate by focusing on a mantra, on the breath, or perhaps on the image of a guru or great teacher. These practices are extremely difficult because it is the nature of the mind to jump around from idea to idea, from sensation to sensation. In fact, Swami Vivekananda called the mind "a drunken monkey" when he introduced meditation to the United States at the end of the nineteenth century.

If I'm reading the fine print correctly, I think we have until May 15th to purchase any of the offers, so the music only download, the series download, the CD or the 3 set series special (which I may just get, since I didn't get the last series, and I recall really liking that one too.)

KAYOTIC I don't know how long, I imagine long enough for all to buy the Challenge, also I received an e-mail letting us know that the CD is already available. They moved fast for this challenge, didn't they? Oprah must have a bigger, better connections to make things happen.

Have a nice weekend!

Funny I missed it yesterday and today too! I'll continue with the one named Mind Body Odyssey

So that's what happened! I thought I'd have a few more days to get to day 22 based on when I had last checked in. I did it yesterday, didn't download it. I couldn't figure out how long they will have the series available though for download, do you know? I think the CD is available into May.

I agree KAYOTIC instead of taking the days one by one they removed them two by two, this morning day 21 was gone only day 22 there, so I downloaded it and sat for a nice meditation.
I like this series, positive feedback, I'm amazed how some days I could see the violet light or the yellow light and others plenty of thoughts coming and going. In general, I have improved in letting the thoughts come and go and have the feeling of enrichment at the end of the session.

Well, our journey continues......

Have a pleasant holiday KAYOTIC!

I just have one more day of the challenge left. Day 20 and 21 I did Saturday and Sunday. I am considering getting the set with the last 3 challenges, but I think I may already have the first of that set on my tablet. But if I got them on my laptop, I think I might be able to load them onto my I-pod, which would be nice. Decisions!

KAYOTIC I was doing the same considerations, to buy or not to buy, I decided to buy in CD by the end of the month, after the hassle of preparing the income tax..as a reward...lol

Today day 16 was fun too, rest and play, that is what I do doing this Challenge, it is "me time" and it has been fun, fun so far.

I've done through day 19, so just 20,21 and bonus 22 left. Should be able to finish on Monday. Still thinking about buying this one...I really liked the meditations, and it would be nice to revisit them later.

day 15, ram,ram,ram...small changes lead to big changes...love the idea: today my mind was full of thoughts in and out, I just let them come and go like an spectator, it was fun being an observant, at least that was the feeling at the end of the practice...lol

Day 11, balance with nutritious food. Learn a lot about how the Ayurveda system look at food not in terms of carbs, fat and protein, but in the intrinsic nature of the food and its taste...

After a busy week a well deserved weekend KAYOTIC, hope it was a good one!

That is great LCOOKK447, I'm glad the Challenge is helping you. emoticon

I just finished day 9 Creating Balance, I experience seeing violet and yellow light when I was repeating the mantra with my eyes closed, a feeling of peace bathed me all. It was a very nice
sensation. I'm glad the Chopra Center is having the Challenge in CD's now, so I'll be able to buy them next month after I'll finish the challenge.

I was also reading this:

The Law of Detachment

In detachment lies the wisdom of uncertainty . . . in the wisdom of uncertainty lies the freedom from our past, from the known, which is the prison of past conditioning. And in our willingness to step into the unknown, the field of all possibilities, we surrender ourselves to the creative mind that orchestrates the dance of the universe.

I will put the Law of Detachment into effect by making a commitment to take the following steps:

1. Today I will commit myself to detachment. I will allow myself and those around me the freedom to be as they are. I will not rigidly impose my idea of how things should be. I will not force solutions on problems, thereby creating new problems. I will participate in everything with detached involvement.

2. Today I will factor in uncertainty as an essential ingredient of my experience. In my willingness to accept uncertainty, solutions will spontaneously emerge out of the problem, out of the confusion, order and chaos. The more uncertain things seem to be, the more secure I will feel, because uncertainty is my path to freedom. Through the wisdom of uncertainty, I will find my security.

3. I will step into the field of all possibilities and anticipate the excitement that can occur when I remain open to an infinity of choices. When I step into the field of all possibilities, I will experience all the fun, adventure, magic and mystery of life.

I found it interesting to explore myself. Hope it interests everyone as well. Namaste!!!

I have completed Living Optimism. These meditations are very uplifting to me. I have something that I can fall back on in case I am feeling anxious or blue. These have helped me with my depression since I have started this challenge.

Thanks for the article CAROLJEAN, I live in the countryside, sometimes the only noise is the wind blowing or the noise of animals around, I'm fortunate not to live in a crowded city indeed. Enjoy the article.

I have completed both Days 17 and 18. I am searching for my creativity side today. I am having a hard time with this. As I am always doing for others and forget to find sometime for me or to do something creativity. Need to stop and locate it.

Namaste,

Laura

I have completed Days 13, 14, 15. I love these challenges. I have realized that I make things way too hard of myself and not able to complete my challenges because they are either overwhelming, too many or plain too hard for me to accomplish. Day 15 has brought that to light for me.

Finished day 12 this morning, I do like doing yoga first, so that's great that you can meditation right after your morning yoga, Carol Jean. I'm not feeling like I have time for yoga, but do feel good about not letting that prevent me from doing the meditation. I tend to get OC about my routines, and not allow myself to do part of them, but I've been trying to do what I can lately (like doing the meditation without the yoga first if I feel a time crunch) and not worry about it. It's quite freeing!

This is the second time I have been able to to the meditation within a short time of finishing my yoga practice. It really adds to my process and I find fewer kites(thoughts) in the air.

Just finished today's meditation. In addition to the meditation, I highly recommend you read the article on finding silence in a noisy world. Here is the link so you don't have to return to the meditation email. www.oprah.com/spirit/Noise-Pollution

Looking forward to the meditation about connecting. Today mine was day 7, to honor my body, my vehicle in this life, love the thought...

It is great to have this forum to talk, express ourselves and establish a connection through our meditations and yoga practices, despite the distance among ourselves, it is just GREAT to be here! Namaste!

Today worked out that I did the meditation right after I finished my yoga practice for the day.... quite serendipitous.

Punchie, I'm behind too, finished day 9 today, just didn't get it in yesterday. I am pretty happy with my surroundings, but do need to work on the clutter that builds up, I think that's why I'm more stressed at work of late, my desk is a mess!

CarolJean, I know what you mean about connecting here, I really enjoy the thoughts and discussions on this team, you all keep me thinking and coming back for more!

Connecting for Balance was today's Meditation. I love connecting with my family whether is over FaceBook or by phone. My sister was having a hard time today and needed to vent. She knows to all her big sister to listen. This was a blessing in today's message.

It worked today... I let the kites fly and fewer came.
Today was about cherishing connections and I cherish the ones here on this team. I wish we could actually connect beyond the internet.

Yesterday as I felt as if I where fighting the thoughts that seemed to bombard me in meditation, I realized they were like kites and I was trying to reel them in when all I had to do was let go of the string. AH!

Interesting posts all, what an experience.!!!!!!!!!

I'm quite behind just did day 5 yesterday and today day 6, I love the healing process of day 6 meditation, maybe because I need healing more than anything to get back to my normal self after" bump in the road" that this week has been for me(see post in the monthly challenge).

About the thoughts that come and go, I remembered Deepak mentioned that we don't need to fight them, more to look for the in-between to go deeper in the meditation, easy to say than to do, I know...but worth the effort, don't you think?

Sent all the love to my brain today..healing...healing.....So hum....

Thanks for the support and encouragement. I will remember to tell the thoughts to flee if they try to intrude on tomorrow's meditation.

I had that problem a little yesterday, Carol Jean, mind wandering, but was able to (finally) bring it back, and a little today at first, but then I told myself to concentrate on the words and let go of my thoughts (lots of work stress right now), and it helped. Did day 8 today.

Completed Day 10 this morning. I am one with the breathe of life. I find myself since doing this meditation challenges that I am using my breathing to help in some situations that can be very stressful. If feels very calming and soothing to bring me back to focus and centered to deal with these stresses that I encounter.

Namaste,

Completed Day 9. I do realized that the area where you spend most of the time has an impact on your inner world. But they way it was put, made more sense and brought some things to light.

Hope everyone has a bright and peaceful day,
