James decided to move to Des Moines.... I think to be closer to his fiancee's family in Minneapolis. I also think he is ready for a larger populations. loves Trader Joes, Whole Foods and the fact that a Lululemon storie is opening soon. Seriously James is not easy to figure out as he is a very free spirit with few, if any attachments. He will begin teaching Guided Self Practice in his loft at 17th and Ingersoll in Des Moines in September. You need to have at least one private session with him to attend these GSP's. Usually he holds them Tues-Thurs 4:30 -6:00 PM. As I know more I will share with you . To find out more about James and upcoming events check out jamesmilleryoga.com/
Yes, I thought last Saturday was a very nice class. My instructor is battling some medical problems so not teaching on Saturday mornings this month. I want to hear more about James moving to Des Moines and where he is teaching. Very interesting....
Come meet Carol Jean and me if you can figure out who we are at Grays' Lake....
I'm doing the yoga challenges too, and the meditation challenge. These threads are always very active, so I'm not sure why you're feeling the team is not as active? Join the challenge, and post away!
As for summer yoga, I have been finding it harder to get up as early, I think it's the greater light that makes me get to bed later (or to sleep later...) and then I'm sleeping in...I'm still getting in my yoga, but it feels like more of a struggle. This morning I skipped it altogether, just felt rushed. I did get it in tonight, but it was hot....
I do like to do yoga outside and will probably make an effort to do that more often, if I can get up early enough!

Due to a great many summertime cancellations, I have had much more time to practice yoga at my very favorite studio. Due to these cancellations I have also been able to attend longer and very rigorous (for me) classes. Wow. My yoga-cation will end mid-August when I myself go away for 3 weeks. Bring on solitary sun salutations! I, too, have been continuing a daily meditation practice. Enjoy the garden!
I've been participating in the July challenge and now the August challenge as well as the Meditation challenge. I continue to practice my Adamantine sequence along with a new and regular meditation practice. Are you going to the Iowa City Yoga Festival in October?
I see that our group has been rather less active with posting than in the past..... I thought it was just me. This site has been very helpful to me as I progress in my Spark journey and in my yoga practice. I hope we are all just more busy with outdoor activities than losing interest.
So.... just thought I'd see what challenges other folks have with their practices in the summer.
For me, I find that I am much busier outside b/c I'm a gardener. Rarely ever even ride my bike any more b/c I've been so busy watering this summer!! I frequently practice yoga on my deck and it must be early in the morning b/c of the extreme heat we've been having. If you have not tried helping the sun up with an outdoor practice, I would highly recommend it. Truly a sun salutation!
Another challenge I am having is that my teacher is injured and not teaching as many classes this month. I am grieving that but, of course, hope she heals well (and quickly).
I have been trying some different instructors with our yoga in the park series and I believe this helps me better define the type of practice I enjoy. I take from each new instructor what they have to offer and use only what I feel is right for me.
Any one else have summer yoga experiences they'd like to share?
