Thank you for the kind words, Punchilouie. I am glad I did not allow negative forces to derail me today as the class I found was sent from heaven to help me at just the right time. I will take it every week and also hatha, I think, when this instructor takes that over on the new schedule.

I am also grateful for the goodies and kind words sent to me from members of this team.

Great practices everyone!

STACYR31 Sorry to hear your daughter wasn't feeling well. Hope today she is much better!

CCHEF1 Great you found the yoga class that you were looking for. Also fantastic that despite the negative push away from yoga, you decided on the favor of Yoga!!!!

Au 30: 30/31 Yoga Journal Home Practice dvd practice with Jason Crandell for 65 min, done before noon. The dvd I got in the mail without asking for it,which cost is $13.95, if I decide to keep it, YJ will send another one in 2-3 months. I'm still thinking if I keep it or not. The practice was super good, but I don't like to have to pay every 2-3 months....Short 5 min so ham meditation in the evening.

Au 31:31/31 52 min Barbara Benagh Yoga for Stress Relief, Anxiety Relief and Poses for relaxation segments. I needed them to center myself today
evening meditation my own with so ham breathing, 5 min

Woot! Almost let something negative push me away from yoga and even from participating on this team yesterday, but I need yoga and I love spark and this is the most comprehensive and relevant yoga team on the site so pooh on that negative factor!

That said am not going to mount any kind of September challenge as I did find the restorative/rehabilitative yoga class I need, happily being held at a time I can go do it, so am going to try just easing into that this month, in addition to my regular workouts.

Workouts are workouts but yoga is yoga and it is healing. So woot!

I'll be hanging around the team!

Didn't get to have Yoga class last night as my oldest child got sick at school. Thankfully she's feeling better today.

8/30 24/21 with Barbara Benaugh again, I did the active shouder openers, 29 minutes.

Did my meditation at the gym last night, 11 minutes to music on my ipod. Today I did a Chopra download, 17 minutes this evening.

I saw the Spark offer, it looks good, 29$ for a lifetime membership, but I don't know anything about the site, and I couldn't really see what they have to offer. It might be good, but it does kind of sound too good to be true....although I can't imagine Spark would offer it if it wasn't OK. Today I see they have cotton yoga mats on offer.

45 minutes of my Adamantine sequence after I taught my 60 minute chair yoga class. A short walk with DS and DH late afternoon to a nearby coffee shop before supper.
Last night went to bed thinking I would have a hard time sleeping as I had taken an extended afternoon nap. Did 10 minutes of meditation (seated) to Omharmonics and had no trouble sleeping.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

I'm using a friend's computer, mine to the shop for maintenance.

How interesting the way one finds out the best time to practice yoga. Terrific experiences and practices everyone!

Interesting offer from Sparkpeople, Is there a free trial?

Today I received a dvd from Yoga Journal, which I could keep for $13.95 or return it. Every 2-3 months they will send another one. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Au 29:29/31 OM Yoga, beginner/intermediate practice, 60 min, Cyndi Lee. Vigorous practice, sun salutations A and B, standing poses, crow, shoulder stand, plow, short guided relaxation in savasana. I reached my goal of two long practices. Walking Meditation about 5 min after the yoga practice, useful to loose all the muscles.

The class I wanted was not available, so guess I will just rethink what I want to do in yoga in September.

I am rethinking a few things about my September yoga challenge as I may just look for a full class and do that once a week. While I have time before work and obligations again get in my way, I may want to get a real class in for the month of September.

8/28 22/21 (nice, bonus!) Did AM yoga, the full practice, from AM/PM yoga with Rodney Yee. 20 minutes all told, it was nice and relaxing.

Punchie, I like both, very calming and nice settings too. Thanks to you and CarolJean for the recommendation.

8/27 21/21 Patricia Walden, PM yoga, 26 minutes (from the intro) I did it this morning, I was thinking of doing it last night, but then Larry got to the TV first! No worries...it was his birthday weekend...

missed my meditation too, it was just a lazy day, and we had some maintenance done on the leaky windows (needed to be done before winter arrives!)

-EYDIE- dance pose requires a good balance, isn't it? your practice is more on the advance side, great to have you here, because you can give us some pointers in how to achieve those advance poses. In my case I'm still working in half moon, bakasana and a good tree pose, my balance is good in my predominant hand side but terrible in the other side.

I will be doing a personal yoga challenge for the month of September. Any yoga I do will be added to my reguar routine or incorporated with, say, weights sometimes.

I sometimes go long periods of resisting doing yoga (and pilates, also important for my body), so my challenge is going to be teeny one just to get some of the benefits. I will do 15 mins of yoga twice a week in addition to (or incorporated with) my daily exercise.

I'll post this again if there is a September Challenge posted. Woot! emoticon

I've set myself a personal challenge to do yoga for the next 30 days! It may be that my practice may only be for 5 minutes on long work days but I will do it!

A focus for me will be making friends with Sun Salutations again, since I've noticed that I'm resistant to doing them.

Today's session was 30 minutes:

Tree
Temple dancer
Eagle
3 sun salutations
reclining warrior
spinal twist
leg stretches
camel
cobbler
cat/cow
plow
staff and sage pose
reclining spinal twist
"4" stretch

I feel great!!!

Taught my chair yoga class and my sister who is visiting for a couple weeks came along. Told me afterwards that she didn't expect that much of a workout. Spent most of the afternoon on my feet shopping with sister. She makes individualized greeting cards and we spent several hours deciding on stickers at a Hobby Lobby.

Had a wonderful 75 minute guided self practice with my teacher James this afternoon. There were at least 3 or 4 others practicing at any one time during the 2 hour session. Got some great pointers to improve my Sage poses.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

I wasn't aware my SparkPage was set to private. I fixed that--thank you.

I feel much better after my yoga practice than after strength and cardio exercises. I still do strength and cardio because I really have no body strength. I got into yoga because of the stress busting challenge. Yoga really works to relax me. My muscles stretch and relax in yoga. There is no pain doing yoga though the poses are difficult. I actually feel energized after the practice and when I get up in the morning. SP has been a good experience for me.

OMY is One Minute Yoga--a SparkPeople team challenge.

Is there a difference between Sun Salutation A & B?

BMCOLLEY thanks for the links you used for your practice. It's great that you are committed to a daily practice and that you warm-up so your muscles are ready for the poses. My question in relation to experience is how do you feel after your yoga practice? if you do cardio or other fitness program, do you feel the same after your yoga practice? For example, today I did also the pigeon pose in my swam practice, I feel my body stretched, I tried to match the breathing so I could get into the pose while breathing in and out of it while breathing out during the transition to the other pose. At the end of my practice I felt re-energize.
I also like practicing yoga very much. Namaste!

Hi Punchilouie, these yogas are in response to the items I said I would do on a daily basis when I signed up for this team. Most of what I did I got from your postings from earlier, maybe a year ago. The Sun Salutation I agreed to do on a daily basis. I don't know if it is A or B. I looked it up on the internet and it didn't say there were different versions. It can be found at medindia.net/animation/surya_mamaskar.asp. The warm-ups are from mydailyyoga.com. The meditation is from yogajournal.com/meditationrevolution/howto
sit.html. I signed up for their 28 day meditation challenge that started in July. I also signed up for their 21 day challenge that starts in September. The One-Legged King Pigeon Post is the daily from OMY.

I do not have any experience except with OMY. I enjoy yoga so much. I went through the Sun Salutation once. I figure I would get used to it since I am committed to doing it everyday. The warm-ups were done according to how many they called for.

FLAMENM great practice!

KAYOTIC very good idea to try to be present in different activities. Your opinion of the AM Yoga? Those mini workouts are great too from Yoga Conditioning for Athletes!

CAROLJEAN how is your neck, is the treatment helping? and/or your modified practice?

Au 22:22/31 Namaste Yoga, Swam,Kate Potter, 23 min vigorous practice but feels good. I did after the meditation before noon. Feel full of energy, maybe the opening of the third eye has something to do with it........

Chopra Meditation, I choose love meditation, 15 min, I feel a warm feeling all over me! done at mid-morning before my yoga practice

I usually just try to focus on my breathing and relaxing during my massage, but since we've been doing this meditation challenge, I thought I'd give it a try. My mind wanders a lot anyway, but I am really trying to focus on staying present more often. I think it helps!

8/22 19/21 another 2-fer, the "tennis" practice from Yoga for Athletes, and the "abdominal" practice from 15 minute results yoga. total of 24 minutes.
