PETALIA I did watch Pema's video what a nice person she seems to be, her instruction was clear and simple. I didn't do the retreat, "busyness syndrome".

Today Monday however, I have done two meditations, the one Yoga Journal 7 day, and the 1st Chopra Meditation Challenge, one in the morning and one in the early evening. Just a taste of what a retreat might be from what Pema explains in the video in how to structure a retreat.

Also before the first meditation I watched for the second time the whole video from Pema, so the instructions to sit were fresh.Making Friends with Myself was also in my mind. I felt centered, I could visualized Hamsa in the first meditation and So Ham in the second, my caught myself thinking if both mean I AM why in one sa is after Ham or why is so before Ham.

I found what you explained from your experience very interesting, I gather you have experience in meditating. Great!

Happy Birthday Pema! Thank you for this retreat. I meditated for 3 1/2 hours today; 7 sets of 20 minutes seated meditation with 10 minutes of walking meditation. I had two silent breaks. This is new for me to meditate this long. I thought the chatter in my head and being in the past or in the future might die down and at last I would be in the present. Well, I experienced some moments. Nonetheless, I feel much more here and now than ever I have before. Did anyone else Practice Peace today?

P.S. I just wrote this on the 'Meditation and Mindfulness' team pages and I wanted to reiterate it here as well.

I am about 1/2 way through the Pema Chodran video. This Saturday is a "second Saturday" bike ride group in the morning.... I think I will do one or two twenty minutes sessions before and then make the ride a moving meditation. My DH will play tennis in the PM probably and I plan to do a couple more sessions. I am so looking forward to it.

Day 2 is the identical guided meditation as day 1. It looks to me like there are four guided meditations, one for each week of Yoga Journal's 28 Day Meditation challenge.

July 6, last Friday, was the most difficult day of the year for me, a very painful anniversary. I chose to listen to Pema Chodron on that day and I will again this Saturday the 14th. She does not give us a guided meditation, rather she speaks for about 35 minutes about meditation and about how to meditate. Her idea is to have a real meditation retreat that day: could be all day, could be 3 hours... She gave some suggestions as to how to structure the time. I only sat for 20 minutes, then a 10 minute walking meditation. It was late in the day and I was not prepared for more. This Saturday I plan to devote much of the day to meditation. The idea that all over the world that there will be individuals and groups of people 'practicing peace' encourages me to sit. She is the real deal.

thanks PETALIA for the link. Love her quote:

JENNLRC I also have a good experience with Chopra Meditation Challenge. Looking forward to your comments and opinion during the challenge.

Thanks Petalia for sharing this info, definitely meditation should be included as a goal for the team in my opinion.

COULD YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT PEMA?
