I am having such a relaxing time down here, I feel like I am doing yoga all the time... took about a 50 minute walk this morning... did a couple down dogs and forward folds to try to keep hamstrings loose, but nothing else today.

I love when you really find yourself present in the pose, especially when you get there with your breath.
In addition to lots of walking around in Boquete today, I did about 40 minutes of my Adamantine sequence. It is amazing how two days away seem to shorten the hamstrings.

KAYOTIC great practice, definitely I'm curious about your new dvd. I think that those that never practice yoga are the ones who claimed that Yoga doesn't increase the heart rate of the practitioner.

June 22: 22/30 AM,PM Yoga for Beginners, AM segment, Rodney Yee, 25 min, good stretches for the morning

BigPoppaPuff... be careful. How did you injure your arm? I am resting a right thigh muscle that I know I pulled by being too ambitious. The constant refrain from my yoga teacher is "Quit being so ambitious. Be as compassionate with yourself as you are with others."

Re the NY pictures... I loved that so many different sizes and shapes of people were participating.
Did three sun salutations this morning at 5:30 before I caught a cab to the airport for my 7 AM flight to spend 10 days in Boquete, Panama with my sister... don't know if I"ll get any more yoga in today or not.
After great massage on Tuesday, the therapist said I should give the muscle in my inner thigh three or four days rest... since my regular yoga sequence includes forward splits, side splits, wide angle forward fold and legs behind the head... I may stick with sun salutations for a couple more days.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

Congratulations KAYOTIC in finishing the 21 day YJ Challenge! Interesting new dvd!!!I just checked the video of this dvd in collage video.com, next in my wish list.

You're welcome CAROLJEAN64, today I watched the news from TV5Monde the french chain and it was also shown there, maybe in many countries it was shown! I found it amazing more than 14,000 people doing the poses, and the photos showing that they were really in the pose!!

BIGPOPPAPUFF great fusion!

6/21 15/21 tried out my new DVD Hatha yoga for beginners from Element, with Tamal Dodge. It was a nice practice with the strap that came with the package (it was on sale at Collage Video last week) 31 minutes with a nice guided relaxation at the end. I'll try the "Flow" sequence tomorrow.

No actual yoga today... may do some sun salutations before bed to honor the new season.
However, the day I had which began with an alarm at 3:30 AM and was to end at my sister's in Boquete, Panama at 5 PM, ended in Panama City at 5:30 PM.... weather, late planes and now over night to get up and catch a 5:45 am taxi for flight to my sister's. You noticed I said no actual yoga.... however yoga saw me through this day with grace, equanimity and ease. I really mean that!

Feeling stretched, open, better, centered, and rid of toxins are in summary the experience of some of us with the practice of Yoga. Excellent arguments to keep practicing it!

In mho, Power Yoga also qualifies like cardio, at least in my case my heart beat goes up to the range that it's considered aerobic exercise and I end up like CAROLJEAN64 says, dripping all over, lol.

When I've looked at photos of master yogis, I've wondered if they have those bodies only by practicing yoga or if the bodies are like that also because the masters are vegetarian or have an special diet.

14/15 Yoga Meltdown, Level 1 (Jillian Michaels)

I've noticed that when I'm practicing yoga regularly, I feel more "centered" and that carries into every aspect of my life. I eat healthier, feel calmer, and sleep better at night. I am probably not burning a lot of calories through yoga (I participate in other cardio activities for that) but do feel that some yoga is great for body strength training, balance, and flexibility (which are all important). I don't know that I would be as focused, calm, and "centered" if I didn't practice yoga because a lot of the cardio I do is intense (at least for me) and kind of puts me "on guard". Yoga brings me back to "centered"

Yoga really helps keep me motivated. I put it off so long today, but once I got started I did more than I thought I would. My whole self feels stretched and open! We recently got cable for the first time in years, and I love being able to find workouts OnDemand. I did a Yoga for all session, 25 min and then had 10 min for Brazilian Dance. Namaste.

First.. 40 min. of Adamantine today and an awesome massage this afternoon for shoulder and thigh that were troubling. Recommendation is to let thigh rest for 4-7 days... which means I cut out forward splits and leg behind the head for a few days. She also recommended arnica cream for sore muscles... it is a natural anti-inflammatory.

I think the more research is done, the more is going to be found about the health benefits of yoga. I know according to the "experts" I don't do enough cardio, but my yoga sequence leave me dripping with sweat and feeling so refreshed... I know the practice gets rid of toxic stuff both mind and body... and why do we continue to think those are different parts of us?

"Drop into a downward dog:

Most forms of yoga don’t make you break a sweat but that doesn’t mean that getting your “Om” on won’t make you slim.

A recent study from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle found that people who practiced yoga regularly had lower body mass indexes than non-yogis.

What’s more, in a previous study, the researchers found that yogis were less likely to gain weight over a 10-year period, regardless of their physical activity levels and eating habits.

Researchers aren’t sure why, but point out that yoga is a proven stress reliever, and stress hormones such as cortisol have been linked to higher levels of belly fat and body weight."

Isn't it interesting? Your thoughts.

Oh, I do love it when my breath and movements work together... it really is a moving meditation.
40 minutes of Adamantine this morning. Baked chocolate chips cookies before practice to help out DSIL who entertained 29 family members tonight before a memorial service for MIL tomorrow. I didn't taste the batter, eat any cookies because I knew how it would make me feel when I did yoga!!!

12/15 HULU - GAIAM Fit Body Yoga with Gwen Lawrence

My body is tired today and I had just finished an intense circuit training session. Should have probably chosen something a bit more relaxing instead, but I'm glad I tried it. Today, some of the poses were a bit challenging for me.
