Some food for thought......
What it is about aerobic activity that benefits the body? Is it the raised heart rate or the deep breathing that's the most important? Aerobic literally means "with air" so I would argue than when I hold a difficult pose in yoga and I am raising my heart rate and maintaining my even deep breathing - that is aerobic activity. Singing is aerobic activity. Anything we do that induces deep breathing is "aerobic".
Weight training. I do this every day in my yoga exercises. I typically lift over 100 pounds using different muslces throughout my practice. Does a weight have to fit in your hand or be covered with neoprene to count as weight lifting or can I just keep lifting my body?
I don't think medical - or for that matter fitness - science has the amounts of each type of exercise fully figured out yet. So as long as you know your body needs various types of exercise and you work to vary your workouts, I believe you will be healthier for it!
