KAYOTIC you're welcome. In fact lying in savasana, is the way to practice Nidra Yoga, very soothing, without knowing it you are practicing it, like Deep Rest in Barbara Benagh's Yoga for Stress Relief.
Sorry about your computer, I understand mine is also giving me problems, it's good to have the dvds, isn't it?

thanks for the DVD review, Punchie, that does sound like a nice one, I haven't gotten too much into the meditation, (aside from savasana, which feels meditative to me), maybe time to give it a try....

5/29 22/21 bonus yoga, my computer crashed right after I started the YJ video I was going to do this morming (I got in probably 1/2 a sun salutation, and boom, blue screen of death!) so I pulled out my go-to, Rodney Yee, and did the backbends practice, 24 minutes.

KAYOTIC some time ago I bought this Meditation for Beginners dvd with Maritza from Gaiam, when I just started practicing meditation, then I re-discovered it last week and I found it interesting this time around. The yoga practice is very soothing, but active and at good pace and takes you to an state of calm, which is good for the meditation, then it has two options the Nidra Yoga, lying down meditation, and the seated meditation. After the Chopra meditation challenge and the meditations session from 21-day Yoga Journal Challenge and the meditation in the OM YOGA dvd, I found this Meditation for Beginners dvd to be very useful.

Do you know that there is another A.M. P.M. Yoga with Rodney and his present wife Colleen..I checked it out in collagevideo.com and looked ok, I like the PM practice to be soothing but active vinyasas and not too slow like the ones with Kate Holcombe, so it's on my wish list. Amazing how one evolves in the practice...

May 28: 28/31 Poses for Relaxation, 15 min Yoga for Stress Relief, Barbara Benagh and 6/10 meditation with another re-discovered dvd, Momentary Meditations with Barbara Biziou from Natural Journeys, 10 min, simple breath and beauty of the heart (there are 5, I'll try the rest tomorrow), brief meditations, it seems to me intended more to experienced people, beautiful scenery.

5/28 21/21 emoticonfor this month, Yeah! Did a yogadownload practice called something like "twisting to get rid of negativity" or something of that nature, nice twisting practice, starting with sun salutations, and ending with a nice savasana.

There are some interesting and intriguing sounding yoga practices going on here lately, Punchie, did you get a new DVD?

I have been forgetting to post but am still doing my yoga. I have completed 18/20 practices this month to reach my goal. I WILL do 2 more in the next days to reach my goal!

GREAT PRACTICES EVERYONE!!!!!

May 23:23/31 Twists sequence from AM Yoga for your Week with Rodney Yee, about 20 min, I modified when he did the standing segment.

May 24: 24/31 Restorative practice from Daily Yoga with Rodney Yee, I used props(cushions to help me with some of the poses), about 15 min plus legs-up-the-wall about 2 min

May 25:25/31 Poses for Relaxation and Anxiety Relief(except breathing techniques) sequences from Yoga for Anxiety Relief with Barbara Benagh 35 min

Thanks KAYOTIC, it's still painful so only seated practices for me. Sorry about your computer, I'm sure you enjoy Rodney's practice!

BIGPOPPAPUFF it's good that you are doing restorative Yoga, I imagine how stress you are with your procedure coming up, I hope your EKG was ok, all the preparations leading to the main procedure add up to the stress, some good breathing techniques might help. Best wishes,have you tried some meditation?

no cardio and no gym today........did do my PT exercises and some upper body exercises using my joe d band.....did come core...some myofascial release using the rumble roller...then 12 minutes of restorative yoga...

another step in the root canal....tomw to the docs as a prelim for my friday cystoscopy....ugh...

KAYOTIC thanks for the advice, I needed it. I hit a dresser with my right foot and it's all blue and in pain, so I was thinking what else to do besides the restorative poses from Barbara Benagh, that I've done three days in a row, because sun salutations have been out of the question.

May 18,19,20: 18,19,20/31 Restorative poses for relaxation, reclined cobbler pose, opening chest and legs-up-the -wall,15 min plus breathing for relaxation(wave breathing), about 3 min

Great practice BIGPOPPAPUFF a deserve rest from a gym, good restorative yoga!

Punchilouie - The Yoga segment on The Biggest Loser DVD is warrior 1, 2, and 3, and triangle (there might be something else I can't remember). It's about 5 minutes long and is the cooldown/stretch part of the DVD. The DVD is primarily circuit training/bootcamp

May 11: 11/31 Ultimate Power Yoga, Sun Salutations, Rodney Yee, 20 min plus 5 min cool down from Namaste Yoga, because my heart rate was up, quite vigorous vinyasa one after the other...

5/11 9/21 Pulled out Barbara Benaugh, did a mostly restorative practice called "diarrhea & indigestion" and despite the less pleasant name, it's a nice, restorative practice. Starts w/ reclined cobbler, ends w/ legs up the wall. Also includes a heart opening sequence, and a supported bridge.

highest weight ever:202, SP starting weight: 143

New goal: 125 lbs, just to see what that looks and feels like! Hit it: Feb 2013!

5/10 15 minutes at home hatha practice, (my body was not up for much movement today, don't really know why but everything was stiff, uncomfortable, and very difficult to hold and stay in)

no gym today....had a CT scan this morning.....did do my PT exercises here at home,along with some core and stretching....then 12 minutes of restorative yoga...
