4/26 19/21 Shoulder openers sequence from the YJ 21 day challenge, week 2 day 1. She does it sitting in a chair, but I just sat on my mat in different sitting postures for a little different challenge, and also ended in reclined cobblers, and finally savasana...

WILDNTEXAS thanks for the link to the yoga video here in Sparks, sorry is was not good in cueing like IFFYIFFY points out, or guiding in how to place the fingers. Like KAYOTIC advises Yoga Journal has very good practices. I guess like in everything, some yoga instructors are good some others are not that good. www.yogajournal.com/21daychallenge/2

Wildintexas - He's not very good at cueing. Holding on the mat like he does throws your hands out of alignment in down dog, you want the middle fingers facing the front of one's mat. Not clenching and pointing towards the side.

4/24 17/21 backbends with Elise ??? from the YJ challenge....(my computer started acting up right after the practice ended, so I didn't get all the details)

The Chakra balancing was a yogadownload, you can probably find it on itunes, I think that's where I get them from. Basically she went through the Chakras and had a different yoga pose that focused on each one. It ended with wheel which I found to be quite challenging....

Stacy - I would first find out what the Dr. told them was fine to do. Another thing I thought of was "hugging into the midline" and than expand out in standing poses, it will help. Keeping the foot/feet flexed in poses such as pigeon will protect the knee joint.

Yoga the Iyengar Way is a really a great book that gives variations and breaks down each pose.

I did a quick kundalini practice yesterday.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be

Hey Punchie, maybe we were practicing at the same time too? Wouldn't that be crazy?

4/13, I was not feeling like yoga this morning, so I pulled out "yoga for athletes" and just did the "all sports" practice, it's probably all of 7 or 8 minutes, but I did get a good stretch and focus...9/21.

Well unfortunately I'm the teacher but I haven't been teaching very long and have had really no formal training at teaching. I will recommend the bolster.

Has she tried sitting on a bolster in easy pose? Getting the hips higher can release tension in the hips and knees. Some poses are going to be contradicted for her and she will need to avoid them. If she is in a class she should talk with the teacher.

I spent several years not being able to do any balancing poses because of carpal tunnel in my right hand. You just can do certain poses with certain problems. Ahisma comes into play, non-harm.

Hi everyone. I miss you all. Been busy lately. I hit my yoga goal of 3 times last week.

Does anyone have any good ideas for modifying poses. I have an older lady in my class who has had a total knee replacement in both knees. She does not want to do chair yoga b/c she does not want to be singled out. I'm not finding a whole lot of stuff on the internet. I suggested she could do Staff pose instead of Easy or firelog pose, then I found a modification for child's pose but I don't know what to have her do instead of table top or cat/cow. Any suggestions?

April 11: 11/25 Power Foundation,Ultimate Power Yoga, Rodney Yee, 20 min good practice for the core too.

KAYOTIC good practice, I noticed you are also reviewing Rodney Yee's dads, he is certainly a good instructor, in my opinion! Also, I was just reading about DOMS, here is the article, it gives some pointers in how to deal with it:

My goal for the month is 30 min yoga practice every day. I haven't had computer access but have practiced every day so far using the 21 day intermediate challenge from yoga journal. Also doing at least 15 min meditation daily. I find meditation really gets me off to a good start for the day.
