Just be careful with the vitex if at any point you have to take any sort of relaxers, sleeping meds or even over the counter allergy or cold medication. Vitex is also used to help people sleep, with all those other things in your system, adding one of the meds that cause relaxation or drowsiness could give you a real wammy if you are the type of person who is sensitive to medication.

From all I've read, it should be fine to take all three with metformin. However, I'm NOT a doctor or medical professional, so I would say that before starting any of them, you speak to your doctor first. I definitely wouldn't think the multivitamin would be a problem. Same for the cinnamon, as it's the same thing you put on toast, only in capsule form. The one I might question would be Vitex, but I don't THINK it's a problem.

Good luck,
Amanda

Is the cinnamon, multivitamin, and Vitex good to take if you are on Metformin? I just started taking the Metformin.

I get mine from GNC. It's a huge bottle for only about $10. I think it's about a two and a half month supply. It's just easier for me to get them there, since I also take their multivitamins and Vitex.

pretty much anywhere that sells vitamins/supplements should have them. I have heard that a few places dont keep them in stock but will order them for you. My local grocery store has them, I have also seen them at CVS and Walmart. Also you might have to really look. In my store, they werent next to the vitamin C in the regular stock, they were on the bottom shelf.

I've been taking Cinnamon capsules for about two months now. I take (2) 500mg capsules each morning. I think that's what MOST people who take it use. The bottle says 1 capsule per day, but I did some research online about PCOS and cinnamon and found that most of the people I read about take 1000mg/day.

I haven't tested my blood sugar lately, so I can't say how it has affected that, but I HAVE lost 34 lbs in about two months.

Bear in mind, I'm eating relatively low-carb. I'm not on a super strict low-carb diet, but I've cut out refined carbs like white bread, pasta, rice, etc. My "breads" consist primarily of low-carb tortillas.

Also, I take Vitex... (2) 500 mg capsules... daily, as well as a women's multivitamin. I started the multivitamin, vitex, and cinnamon all at the same time. Vitex is supposed to help regulate your hormones. It's a bit much to type out here, but you can read up on it at http://pcoscoach.com/vitex.html. Suffice it to say that one of the big reasons for starting vitex is because I'd read in numerous places online that it can be used to regulate your monthly cycle. I had read that it can take up to four to six months for that to happen. As I said, I've been on it for two months and had a very light AF (sorry if that's TMI) after about a month and then a "normal" one almost exactly a month later (last week). Before starting Vitex, I would easily go a good 3 - 4 months (sometimes a bit more) without AF and it would last 2 - 3 weeks. So I'm pretty sure that the Vitex is working. I just can't say for sure if that the cinnamon is working.

I'm not going to stop the cinnamon, though, because what I'm doing now SEEMS to be working well.

I know I added some additional info there, but I wanted to make clear that adding cinnamon wasn't the only change I'd made. You can find a ton of good info on http://www.soulcyster.com. That's one place that I found a lot of info on PCOS and ways to treat it (you can't "cure" pcos).

Hope that helps.

Amanda

Lately I have been hearing quite a bit about people with PCOS taking cinnamon to keep the sugar metabolism under more control. I have recently added it on the premise that it can't hurt to try.

I was wondering if anyone has taken it, or has had a doc recommend it, and what the results were.

Also, I am hearing conflicting advice about what the proper dosage should be, I have heard as high as 5000 mg (1 tsp) per day, and as low as 1000 mg.
