Thanks girls for your replies. I also think that since she is thin, to eat some carbs, but not cut out totally, and just eat healthier.

I have switched to Paleo and am finding that my blood sugar is in much more control (running lower) which has been very helpful...

Every body is different, tell your niece to find out what works best for her. I like Paleo and it's really helped my insulin resistance, etc. It makes sense to me to cut out processed foods and things that are not natural in food form, so I did it for me. I've hard success with primal as well though.

Thanks Ameena for your information! How would she know which pill to switch from? The doctors recommended these are good Duh!!!! Don`t they know everything really,,,,,or simply don`t care!! My main concern is my niece`s emotional state because she is in a deep depression, devastated becaue of these side effects and simply cannot accept this and I know she has to, but she simply can`t!!

Hi! Your niece is really blessed to have you!

Change in diet will have a huge impact for her, I wish I had done so when I was younger.
One thing I'd recommend is researching Yasmin, there have been a lot of negative reports in the news lately, especially in the last two years. I have come across a lot of women (including those who don't have PCOS) switch from Yasmin because the amount of negative side effects along with serious health risks.

Your niece may want to consult with a doctor to switch pills, she doesn't have to stop just change brands that have safer results.

Hugs for her! Hugs for you too!

Thank you so much for your reply! I read your post to my sister. But now our main concern is which is better for pcos, paleo or primal? Because the pelao says no dairy, legumes and a little grains yes, but the primal opposite, please if you can and know tell me what is th ebest and which books to order for her? I was thinking the primal blueprint, because I read many success stories by using that diet, so don`t know now....
Thanks so much, Jackie

My sister and your niece sound very similar. My sister just turned 30, she is 5'7 and she too has PCOS. She has never weighed more than 135 and she is healthy and takes care of herself, but she has PCOS, she is losing her hair and has most of the other symptoms besides weight.
I have been slowly converting to Paleo and I am healthier than I have been in a long time. You highly suggest she tries it.

Hi everyone, I am writing this about my niece who is 25 and is quite thin, but very stressed out and devastated due to hair growth, hair loss and other symptoms. She has been taking her spiro and BC pill Yasmin since May, but still has ravaging symptoms, After a lot of research I believe the answer lies in natural methods, most importantly diet, even though she is thin. I read the primal/paleo diet has cured many women from these symptoms. Please help.....
