I suffered for years and years before receiving a diagnosis after cutting a tiny article out of an Elle magazine five years ago and marching to my Dr.s office with it. He looked at it and said - "oh ok, but this is hard to diagnose" (I had every single symptom on the list).
I have this huge opportunity in my life to coach other girls with PCOS. I have found the miracle of forgiveness just thru seeing the vast difference in my client's symptoms. The difference in their symptoms across the board is just absolutely shocking. It's allowed me to let go of what I always felt was the injustice of doctors.

Thanks for posting! I got more info from this than from any doctor. When I was told I had PCOS in 2007 by my primary physician I felt he didn't fully know much about it himself. I was told the basics.. that my chances of becoming diabetic were higher if I didn't lose weight, that he didn't want to say I would never have children but it will be harder to conceive. He didn't prescribe me anything, didn't give me any other information or any advice except to lose weigh.. nothing! I always had a monthly period and questioned if I didn't have PCOS because of it. I got acne at age 12 and now battle adult acne. Something as simple as a fish oil supplement is easy to take and a doctor never mentioned it. I was also told my ovaries were cystic and he never actually checked. So maybe they weren't. I did have one ovarian cyst in 2010 found by an ultra sound and by 2011 when I had another ultra sound it was confirmed gone and dissolved on its own. The testosterone explains why I can build muscle easily.. I have always hated strength training because I am already bulky.. you should see how big my calves are.. all muscle.. ugh.
More of the time I hear stories of misdiagnosis re: PCOS. I was diagnosed at one time many years ago with Mock-Cushings Syndrome. Finally got the correct diagnosis 3 years ago after decades of frustration. Now that I am hitting menopause, the hormones are finally starting to level off.

Before i was diagnosed I went to doctor to see if the reason my husband and I have never had a pregnancy scare while doing nothing to prevent it was me. I always had regulqr periods. The doctor ran blood work to see if i was insulin resistant. Before it was even ran she just told me since I was overweight she just knew i was.insulin resistant and that would be what was causing it. Thank god we had a house fire and thatbstress made my symptoms worse so that I actually missed my period for a few months and the third doctor figured it out. Soo frustrating when it could ave been caught two years sooner.
No More Excuses!

That was really cool info. I know when I was finally diagnosed my Dr. told me that for alot of women it is a hard disease to diagnose accurately because it has alot of symptoms like other diseases and there is not really one specific test.

Well that gives me a reason to take my fish oil with my daily vitamins. Has anyone tried Vitex yet? I have started losing inches and a little bit of weight(believe me it is slight) and my symptoms are beginning to slowly improve so I'm hoping that the Vitex will help my progestrone levels to slowly normalize.

This is very informative. Isn't it crazy how PCOS seems to be related to EVERYTHING?! I actually found this same site the other night when researching the connection to poor vision and PCOS. There's an article in the sidebar there on the relationship to dry eye and PCOS.
Thanks for sharing this. Knowledge is power!!!
