Thats great to hear! I need to be adding lots more beans as well, I usually do good with sugar, try only using stevia when a small amount of sugar is called for and using sugar free products otherwise...but generally trying to stay away from those as well. Had some stress these past two weeks so was busy and not as good as I should have been, making sure to re-dedicate myself...need to get my health together for a good life later!

I have been doing the food-pairing thing again, too. The thing I changed this time is that I'm not eating sugar or white flour like I was before- even though the book said you can. And now it's working! I've lost 4 pounds of "false weight" in 5 days. Last time it didn't come back, though, so I'm feeling positive about doing this again.

This time, though, I'm adding lots of fiber. I'm really trying to get the 25+ grams a day I'm supposed to have, and I think it helps a LOT! I'm eating beans for carbs instead of wheat or grains. So far so good! :)

Yeah, lost three lbs in the last three days! So I think my body is starting to regulate itself. With both PCOS and the Hypothyroidism I think too much was going on lol. I'd been dieting for years, and knew I didn't react well to carbs...just didn't know why, so I generally ate really well, usually its hard for me to even fit in all my calories. I thought the weight gain was just college and stress...almost two years out now and it wasn't budging, it was going up and fast! So I figured something was wrong...and was diagnosed with both. With that figured out it seems like my metabolism is responding again. I used to fast also, I just don't get hungry like other people I guess, so I really just only ate when I wanted to (which ended up like a fast, eating only dinner)....I think it shut down my metabolism, mini meals have been helping me, although I still do stick to generally one 'larger' meal a day. So protein + carb snack sized meals throughout the day and then a larger dinner. Funny how our bodies work...it's all about finding what works for you I guess, sometimes that takes a while. All I know is I can't thank the doctor enough that finally listened to me about the PCOS, was still feeling very 'weird' while being within normal thyroid ranges...knew something was still up. I had thought it was PCOS from the beginning, this doctor listened for two minutes to me symptoms and said "honey, you have PCOS" lol. My other doctor just told me I wasn't sleeping enough. Oh well. Hope all you ladies find out what works for you! Hopefully this keeps going for me, trial and error lol. emoticon

That's gear that's working for you. My doc doesn't treat insulin resistance with meds. She believes in diet and exercise. After doing the small meals spaced out over the day I found that it promoted insulin resistance. Made my metabolism lazy. Primal lifestyle and IF has made a huge difference.

I've been loosing a pound here or there every couple of days. Not that long ago I had gained a bit on vacation, I've since lost 9 lbs after starting Metformin and using the IR diet concept-linking all carbs with protein and only eating max 30g carbs and 14 protein in a two/three hour period...so generally 5-6 small meals throughout the day. I feel better then I have in a while now!! I have Hypothyroidism along with the PCOS, and being recently diagnosed I was a little lost on where to start since there is sooo much information out there. I think I was being to strict on myself...I used to be vegan, and about 130lbs lighter lol...I was so used to the militaristic way of eating. This IR diet makes it easy to eat, learn portions of carbs/proteins...so I can feel less stressed with counting calories. Its a nice weight off my shoulders!

Yes, I tried it! Two years ago I did that diet, and the first week I lost 6 pounds, and then ended up losing 12 pounds in the first month! It was amazing, and I felt great!

But then I stopped pairing so well, and the weight came back.

Recently I took this up again, and I've been doing it for 2 months with ZERO results. It's really frustrating, since it worked for me so well in the past! I'd definitely give it a try, though. It's pretty easy to stick to!

Where do you see an option for using a diabetic meal plan. All I can see is the option for having vegetarian, no tofu, no red meat... some other options. Nothing for diabetics.
Can you tell me how to find that?

I am using the diabetic spark people meal plan in conjunction with intermittent fasting as well and I'm starting to see a difference in the scale again. For me I follow the if life way of eating, which is similar to the other diet. Checkout iflife.com if you want to read about fasting, also I highly recommend Paleo if you are interested as well, it has helped me with my cooking.

Here's the link from amazon:

I have just started reading the book and lots of things make sense...eating carbs with proteins, etc. Wondering if anyone had heard or tried it, since there are almost 200 reviews on amazon with 144 giving it 5 stars and the rest 4.

I tried a low glycemic diet. Didn't work. Small, frequent meals didn't work either.
I am now doing intermittant fasting The Warrior Diet www.warriordiet.com . I'm losing a half pound per day and not eating any less total calories. Just timing them different. 85% of them at dinner time.

Has anyone read the Insulin Resistance Diet by Grossman and Hart? Have you tried the plan, how has it worked for you? Trying to find something that works, just got the book and have started to slowly read, wondering what you ladies think.
