I find when I low carb, it takes some time getting adjusted to the changes, but eventually I don't crave them like I do when I eat carbs regularly. I have gone no-carbs a few times, but that can be hard. I do lose weight though and usually feel more energy.

If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results.

Low carbing is the first thing that has worked in years that got the scale moving down! I am following Atkins and have really had to retrain myself how to cook and eat. I find Atkins easy to do. I've picked up some low carb cookbooks and now cook this way for my entire family. Someone mentioned the site Linda's Low Carb Menus...it's really good for recipes! Also, Atkins.com is a free website to get info and advice on low carbing. I even had their nutritionist look at my daily menu and help me tweak it to my benefit.

for me, very low carb is the way to lose. grains are worst. if I ever get my weight down, I'll add back some small amounts of carbs, but I'm struggling with giving them up enough to actually loose weight. so far, though, I've prevented more weight gain. now my goal is to loose 15 pounds. even that is hard for me to force myself to do.

yes, sometimes they do get a raw deal, and when i think it too much, then my body hurts. i think for people who don't have any health problems, they're okay, but for others - decreased or lower carbs is better.

For me it's watching the types of carbs that I eat - I don't measure the amount of grams of carbs in my diet but do try to go for the low GI as much as possible and my meals are based around them and fruit/veg with a little protein. I am diabetic and not sure if this makes a difference but too much protein in the diet is also not good for you so I suppose it goes back to a balanced healthy diet with everything in moderation. Most of all it's finding what works for you personally and as long as your bloods (if they are checked) are all ok then you're doing it right for you.

I'm afraid I love my carbs and sometimes feel they get a raw deal but it does depend on how your body reacts to them and learning to listen to your body as much as anything is important.

yeah, i can't do super low carb. I just don't have the energy. When I was 15 and lost 50 pounds, I didn't eat fruit, or grains or juice. I had one protein shake in the morning, I had plenty of yoghurt, I made my own frozen yoghurt for a tread, or graham crackers and low sugar hot cocoa. I ate 5-6 x a day, mostly protein & veggies.

I can't do that now. I do pretty well with the gi diet, or the plate way mentioned in the zone - fill 1/2 your plate with non-starchy veggies, 1/4 with starch/grains and 1/4 with protein. and if you feel too hungry, swtich to 1/3 of each.

i feel much better tonight since putting that into practise.

oh and another thing I have noticed, if you're gonna have chips or a treat, eat it with dinner, not later. that helps with blood sugar.

I usually eat low carb but throughout this pregnancy I have not. Once I give birth in July I will start again. :)

if that worked for you, go for it.

Remember the one that is right for you is the one that works, FOR YOU! LOL
but if you want to try another, I"ll say that I like the Drs Eades Web site(s) who co wrote Protein Power together, and Atkins is very versatile. Many people get stuck on Dr. Atkins Induction and don't read on to find that after two weeks he advocates adding in small amounts of carbs... increasing every couple weeks til you find the level where you quit loosing. then back off to the slightly lower level so you can keep loosing.

For a good site that many people go to for low carb recipes try Linda's Low carb. TONS of low carb everything, even ones for Atkins induction. www.genaw.com/lowcarb/

thanx for the reminer. can you recommend any lower carb or moderate carb recipe books, blogs or websites. I know I felt really good when i was on the gi diet. I felt really good. steady energy, not too low carb or too high, it was nice.

Headaches, itchy skin, irritability, mood swings, fatigue, sleepiness at innappropriate times. Carbs are the bad guy for me. going without offers LOADS of advantages.

and one thing I should mention that to often we forget cause we don't SEE it or FEEL it. high carb equals high insulin in the blood. high insulin means a tendency to damage cells. this can cause diabetes through damaged pancreatic cells, cancer and other diseases. I had cancer of the endometrial lining. this was an ESTROGEN sensitive cancer. High insulin leads to HIGH ESTROGEN. so does excess weight. after the cancer surgery, I was diagnosed with DIABETES. High carb can almost LEAD to these conclusions.... not for everybody, but for enough that it's not easy to poohoo it and turn your back.

that is the ?. do you low carb? decrease carb? carbload? how does it affect your pcos and pcos weightloss.

me, I know that after eating pizza, my ovaries feel either like they're having a "headache" or like someone is squeezing them really hard and it hurts. and even after taking ibuprofen, it hurts for quite a while

anybody else?
