Free- My OBGYN put my on Diane-35 (BCP) to regulate my period and it has the added effect of also helping with Hirsutism. It helps a bit, it doesn't grow in as fast, but only by a few hours. So I might as for something different (I've been on it for over 6 months so I figure this is the best I'll get out of it)

Bell- Thanks! I'll check them out today!

I know of a few blogs written by women with PCOS, but I haven't really looked.

Here are a few:

www.henkimaa.com/
nyxstium.info
oak.cats.ohiou.edu/~cp391990/
melissacottonwomack.wordpress.com

I'm sure there are LOTS more. Maybe try googling "blogs PCOS"?

I have a website with loads of PCOS info www.mypcos.info Please stop by!

Shell- I've read on other sites that there is evidence supporting that weight loss, eating healthier and exercise can all reduce hirsutism in some people. Weight loss hasn't affected my Hirsutism sadly but medication has. My doctor also suggested some natural remedies however they could take up to a year to kick in.

I did try laser treatment for awhile (until I ran out of money!) and it worked almost immediately. Once I can afford it, I plan on doing it again.

Now getting back on track.. if I made a Hirsutism Team on SP that might be easier to use than remembering to go to a separate website. I will post separately about that though.

Over the past couple of years this has started being a problem for me - I also think it's a great idea but not sure if I could be brave enough to add to the blog - it is humiliating and embarrassing but maybe if we all come out of the woodwork it would be less so.

Another idea - maybe could have a forum within this one just for that or for each main aspect of PCoS that way if people want to write about it or ask questions/advice or find something out without needing to ask they can dip into each of the forums and it's then like a filing system and all in one place.

Glad to know I'm not alone too! emoticon

Would also like to ask, has anyone found their hirsutism sypmtom decrease with weight loss?

I would love to contribute if anyone has started. For years ive suffered and just recently been able to come out in the open and talk to family and friends about it. I found it very liberating, and am always looking to inform and help people understand!

I think this would be a fabulous idea. I'm thinking it could start with just blog entries, and it could expand. There could be a page for PCOS/Hirsutism (and possibly Diabetes) information(or PCOS FAQ), Recipes, polls, pictures, guidance & advice. I'm going to research blogging sites that allow multiple writers & multiple pages. We could also link the newest blog posts to this Team, and to our personal Spark blogs!

What do you think? I'm going to work on a design tonight. Inbox me, or post on here any ideas you might have! (also blog name ideas too!)

I really don't know! I wonder if we just came up with a great idea?

Hmm.. a blog with multiple writers or guest bloggers is a neat idea. A way to keep it fresh! But do you think it would get constant readers?

Its so funny because I love to write but its hard for me to blog the really personal things. I find hirsutism to be absolutely humiliating and so I hate to acknowledge it, as if not saying anything about it makes the friggin beard I can grown any less real. Maybe we should both do a 'getting real and personal' blog about PCOS, being fat and loving ourselves not in spite of it but because we have the guts to get up every morning and live this crazy life!

I TOTALLY agree! I *might* make a blog, but no promises on how often I'd update it unfortunately. However, since it's very personal, I just might keep it up!

I don't know of any but wish I did as well. If someone else could express how I feel about the hirsutism especially, it would be great! PCOS has a tendency to make me feel so very unfeminine that its nice to know I'm not alone!

Hey, I was wondering if any of you know of any blogs, or real life experience websites that have to do with PCOS or Hirsutism? I don't mean informative websites (there are a million of those around!) It would be very inspiring to read a blog from someone who has PCOS! Please share if you either have one, or know of one! I need inspiration! I might make one myself, but I don't know how dedicated I'd be!
