hiya i was diagnosed at 16 - i'm 24 now. I've pretty much lived the last 8 years like i didn't have a condition, then i miscarried :( i shaved and took the pill to hide the hair and lack of periods. But it's time for me to look after myself! :) How are you doing?
Cool! I might look into that. I'm one of the great many Americans of Irish descent. I heard once that there are more Americans of Irish descent than there are people in Ireland. I think that's so weird!
nah its kinda like an army instructer holding a class so its 40 mins of non stop movement! jumping jacks, sit ups, lunges, press ups etc etc! really works you out? oh really? must find the post! very close, Ireland haha
Is circuit training like Curves? Because I don't like the stop/start element of the Curves workout. That sucks that metformin doesn't work for you! I read on a message board that cinnamon works similarly, but I really don't know much about that. So you live in the UK?
Thats mad, im just home from circuit training! its kinda a combo of aerobics and weights! You do be wrecked!! sit ups and lunges and pressing weights and stuff!! well worth the €5 for the hour!!! Yeah i was on metformin! did nothing for me to be honest! was on the highest dose for 6 months and didnt so much as get a period or lose a pound! Doctor thinks im just one of the small percentage it doesnt work for!! typical eh??
I have a suggestion. Why don't you try weight training? Weight bearing exercises build muscle, and muscle increases your metabolism... It worked for me, until I got bored and quit. I haven't gained any weight back, I just have stopped losing.
Also, as far as medicine goes, alot of PCOS patients are on metformin. I began taking it when i had lost about 45 lbs. Metformin should help because it helps your insulin work better so you don't have as many blood sugar spikes.
Don't blame yourself. I'm sure you're doing as well as you can!
yeah im the same! i put on weight so so quickly!! i had lost 2 stone and then put it back on when i stopped low carbing!! Its so frustrating! theres nothing to even help with it! no medication or anything! its so so tough! so just going back to what i did to lose the weight the first time! ive only myself to blame for it though! :(
Well, I'm doing ok I think. I was actually pretty sure I had it before I was diagnosed. My biggest problem is the whole diet thing. I lost most of my weight(~65lbs) with Appetite Awareness, with a hint of GI type thinking. I'm confused about what exactly is recommended diet-wise, and frustrated with the lack of information. I'm one of those people who read books about stuff until I feel informed, and I've simply not been able to get enough information to feel fully informed. My doctor isn't really that helpful but I don't want to switch. So, I guess, mainly its emotional issues that are problematic.
