I agree. I totally feel better when I limit my carbs and sugar, but like an brain-dead zombie, I also tend to overeat those exact things...especially when stressed out or emotional.
I think one of the biggest problems is that carbs and sugar are all the convenient, easy foods. Most low carb, low sugar foods are ones that require preparation (eggs, fish, chicken) where as high carb foods are readily easy to grab and go (granola bars, chips, bread).
