well, it's a bit of a late reply but I can agree. When I eat a lot of carbs right after I almost go into a coma. I become really cold and just want to sleep for several hrs. Problem is carb foods are the ones I like. Turkey does nothing for me in terms of making me sleepy.
I agree. I totally feel better when I limit my carbs and sugar, but like an brain-dead zombie, I also tend to overeat those exact things...especially when stressed out or emotional.
I think one of the biggest problems is that carbs and sugar are all the convenient, easy foods. Most low carb, low sugar foods are ones that require preparation (eggs, fish, chicken) where as high carb foods are readily easy to grab and go (granola bars, chips, bread).

It's funny you should mention this. I started my diet at the beginning of February and since finding out I had PCOS I started cutting out pretty much all refined carbs. Since then the constant desire to snack followed by a sick feeling and a "crash" has virtually vanished. Last week my boyfriend and I splurged on all-you-can eat sushi (hey, you have to go out sometimes :) and the next day all the old symptoms were back. I felt constantly peckish and then exhausted (insulin surge and crash) and all I could do was just keep eating small amounts of fruit until it passed.
I don't really restrict my carbs so take the following for what you will.
I used to have a major haagen Daaz Vanilla Chocolate Chip ice cream addiction. I would go through 1 pint every other day.
Since joining spark I hadn't had it. Over the weekend I decided to treat my self a little. Anyway, I ended up eating like 1/4 cups worth. About 20 minutes later I got a bad stomach ache. I wanted to eat it again and also see if the same thing happened the next night and it did so now I know that my body has changed and though my mouth likes it, my GI tract does not anymore.
I really learned it all to well, when I spent 14 days down in the US visiting my mate's side of the family.
Talk about not feeling well at all from all the fat that I was ingesting I was so NOT feeling well at all (and I was trying to eat healthy but things being as they were, what I would eat here at home was not an option down there - which was nuts).
