I have curly hair that can be tamed with alot of chemicals except on days when the humidity is high and living in Texas near the coastal it is always humid. I love straight hair but my hair is for fine that even if it is straight it will frizz terribly even with chemicals. So what's a girl to do?

I don't have a personal signature. :( One day I will find one and I will post it on here.

I have super thick curly/wavy hair. Most of the time I like it, though on occasion I think it would be nice to have straight, well-behaved hair so I could do some different hairstyles. I just cut it REALLY short for summer -- kind of a "messy on purpose" look, and I'm loving it for the moment, though I'm more of a long hair person at heart, so I'll probably grow it out eventually. But, my head feels about 10 degrees cooler and 2 pounds lighter right now, which is nice in this heat and humidity! And, I couldn't have pulled off the short hair when I was fatter, but now since I've lost weight, it looks OK on me, so I can celebrate THAT!

My hair is super thick, but my mom's is too. Curl wise though it's very weird, it's really curly in the back and then about 2 inches from my face it goes straight. My hairdresser comments on it every time!

I have curly hair also. Sometimes I straighten it because it is easier to deal with but most of the time I wear it up.

That is so weird. Mine has gotten wavy as I got older...but I thought it was just because I kept cutting it shorter! It's gotten really frizzy too, but then I just chop it all off!

Omg!
My hair was straight all my life until I was about 13/14 and now it's wavy/curly out of nowhere.

Wow, that explains it! emoticon

No curls here. Sometimes I wish it had at least a little wave to it because it is so straight it won't do anything.

i have curly hair, but i've always had curly hair. i tried doing one of those straightening perms when i was younger - that was just a disaster and didn't work out the way i had hoped it would! i've learned to embrace having curly hair. i love it when its humid out and i can just step outside with wet hair and it dries looking amazing - can't beat that on getting ready time! although, i have to admit, i haven't liked wearing my hair curly as much in the past couple years - since i've gotten PCOS and gained a ton of weight . . . maybe soon i will again!

I had such straight hair till I was like 14 or so. It wouldn't even hold a curl for more than an hour or so. Now it's hard to get it to stay straight. I have the kind of curly where it's rally messy because half is ringlets and half is more just really wavy, so it looks terrible if I don't straighten it. So annoying.

I had bone straight hair, like BONE STRAIGHT, til I hit about 14 then I got a curl at each temple that steadily moved throughout my entire head! I don't know if this is PCOS related or not. one parent has bone straight hair while the other parent has really curly... so mine may genetic too... oh well, I deal with the curls, but I live in a dry climate so my curls are too unmanageable.

i have naturally tight ringlets. when i was a baby my hair was straight and then i hit 2 or 3 and then BAM!!! curls. its not thick its actually fine. but i am mixed so i think that was to be expected. my moms has loose curls and my dad has a fro so i got the middle. the top seems to be straighting out some. maybe cuz i wear it back alot.

Curly hair here too! My hair was super straight until I was about 7 or 8 years old. My parents kept it long and for something different it was cut pretty short ...once it grew back it was curly. My daughter had super straight hair until she was about 9 or 10 ...it's not as curly as mine but it does have a wave to it. There are days when I hate my hair and days when I love it. I have found a lot of products that keep the frizzy unter control ....I do live in florida though so sometimes it's just crazy no matter what I put in it.

One of my sisters has really curly hair and doesn't have PCOS...and the other has really straight hair and DOES have PCOS.

My hair is curly as well..didn't realize there was a connection. It does run in my family though. I'm a stylist, and I can tell you that many children with straight hair..male and female, get curls or waves during puberty. Ususally they've had curly hair as babies though. But, it is interesting to realize that there is a connection with PCOC as well. Thanks.

I had curly then wavy hair as a baby/young girl, went straight my elementary years, curled at puberty, and w/ each pregnancy or hormonal change it has gone from wavy to very curly. The weird thing is it went almost straight w/ first pregnancy and that child has curly hair. He hit puberty and his hair got so tight they have to relax it w/ the strongest relaxers for African/Americans just to loosen the curls. 2nd pregnancy my hair got curlier and his hair is very straight. 3rd pregnancy curls relaxed some and she has lg ringlets not tight. My hair is very hormonal hair...I didn't know it was common w/ PCOS..

My hair got hyper thick/curly/wavy when I was about 13. I could have an afro ala Lauryn Hill if I just comb it when its dry (and I'm not African American). I've heard that most women have a hair texture change at puberty, during pregnancy and again at menopause. And yeah, I get the 'is that natural? you're so lucky" thing all the time. Blech.

I have a lot of hair but it's thin and straight. I usually flat iron (time consuming) my hair once a week and then wrap at night until my next wash. My hair grows out wavy...I love my hair and so does my hubby!

My hair is very thin & very straight. It will not hold a curl no matter what I try. So far my daughter is the same way. Hopefully, as she gets older her hair will get at least a little bit of body to it.

Haha Bekah-- yes, I get that too. I straighten my hair on occasion (mainly in the winter) (I don't need to fry/dry it out more than it already is) but with the humidity in NC in the summers, it's 100% curls all the time for me.

LOL! My hair is a mess of natural curl. I had straight, blonde hair till about jr. high and then it started to get wavy. Before I knew it, I was a brunette with a head full of curls. I still get the, "Is that a perm?" Of course, when I say no it's natural, I get, "You're so lucky." Yeah, well, they should try dealing with it for a week! LOL! I shouldn't complain because if it was straight I would want it curly and I believe my hair is my best features.

So I was curious to see how many of you all have curly hair.

My hair was pin-straight (and super thin) until I was about 10 or 11 (that magical age), then I got ever-so-annoying Shirley-Temple ringlets, and it thickened. I have read before that it's very popular among people who have PCOS, so I was curious to see if you girls deal with the curls, and the "are your curls natural? can I touch them? Oooh, you're so lucky" too!
